I stayed at the Royal Frenchmen Hotel and Bar with my dad during a last-minute trip to New Orleans. We booked an ADA room, which was affordable and met our needs after his knee replacement. Overall, the stay was decent—not terrible, but not the best either. The location is ideal if you love nightlife and jazz—right on the edge of lively Frenchmen Street, with live music both outside and inside the hotel. However, nightly jazz performances make it difficult for light sleepers to get a full night’s rest. The lobby has charm but could use some maintenance and deep cleaning. Our room had a stale smell on entry. While the bedding was clean, the stained desk chair and curtains, lack of luggage space, no full-length mirror, and a burned-out bathroom bulb were drawbacks. There are also no windows you can look out of in the street-level room, and outside noise was constant. The free breakfast was minimal at best—mostly microwaveable items, which felt more like a snack than a proper morning meal. The courtyard was a nice touch, and rooms with balconies overlooking it might offer a better experience. I wouldn’t stay again due to personal preferences, but I’d recommend this hotel to those who enjoy live jazz and a lively, late-night vibe.

Apr 29, 2025 · Jamie BachmannLoved this place!! If you're looking for a hotel that emerces you with the sounds of jazz, this place is for you! My husband and I planned a weekend getaway to the crescent city for food. I grew up in New Orleans. So to come back as an adult and hear all the live jazz music playing in the lobby at night, feel the warm city breeze relaxing in the courtyard, and the hustle and bustle of the city in the background put my soul right at peace! I missed this place! I can't thank the lovely staff for treating us like locals!
May 21, 2025 · one loveWe recently hosted a small destination wedding at the Royal Frenchmen Hotel & Bar. All of the hotel’s rooms were blocked off for our guests for both Friday and Saturday nights. It was great having many of our family and friends in such close proximity so we could spend more quality time with those who traveled to help us celebrate. The hotel is either within walking distance or a short Uber ride away from a wide variety of dining or entertainment options. This made it easy and convenient for everyone to choose what local culture they were most interested in experiencing. Jessica, Lexy, Amber, and the other hotel staff were very responsive to the needs of our guests throughout the weekend and also made sure that our wedding vendors had everything they needed to get set up as well. They were quick to adapt when stormy weather forced us to deviate from the original floor plan and timeline that was developed for the wedding festivities. They kept tabs on the movement of the storms and suggested delaying the beginning of the ceremony by a few minutes. Sure enough, by the time the ceremony was over, the storm had passed, and we were able to proceed with the second line that so many of our guests had been looking forward to. We were thankful to be able to participate in this New Orleans tradition as our guests had a great time dancing in the streets! We created some wonderful memories during the course of our wedding weekend that will live in our hearts forever. Thank you to Jessica, Lexy, Amber, and the other hotel staff for working so tirelessly to make it such a great experience for everyone!
Apr 02, 2025 · Tara FerraraAbsolutely perfect hotel and location for experiencing New Orleans! Frenchmen street is where it’s at, and only one block from the quarter. Rooms are very nice and the beds are super comfortable. The staff is very friendly and the bar in the lobby fantastic. If you’re looking for a boutique hotel in New Orleans look no further.
Apr 22, 2025 · John SaxbyI had my wedding at The Royal Frenchmen and as a venue itself it was absolutely beautiful, however, we had countless issues with the new staff that was hired at the end of 2024. Two months before the wedding the owner hired an entirely new staff without giving their clients any notification. The last 2 months of wedding planning were the WORST experience, and I strongly recommend seeking a different venue solely because of the new staff. Despite majority of our wedding already being planned, the new staff still could not manage to plan the last little bit of our wedding. The lack of communication was incredibly frustrating and it was very clear that the new staff did not have the same skill level in wedding planning as before. I dealt with rude, disrespectful hotel employees that would not or could not help me and was even hung up on. I voiced my problems in an email to the new manager and never received any response which was pretty on par given the rest of my interactions with the staff. There were several mishaps on the day of the wedding that were all ultimately due to the failure of the day-of-coordinator to fulfill their job duties. I feel that if I'd had the wedding planner and day-of-coordinator I was working with initially, my entire ceremony and reception would have gone off without a single hitch. Part of the reason we loved the Royal Frenchmen and signed a contract with them was because of the initial wedding planner. The new staff made my last 2 months of wedding planning a living hell, and I can say without a doubt that I would have never signed a contract with the venue if I knew they would be the ones responsible for my wedding. The only way I would recommend the Royal Frenchmen is if you didn't opt for the all inclusive and hired your own wedding planner/day-of-coordinator. Though, even then you'd still have to deal with the incompetent, unpleasant hotel staff. The Royal Frenchmen is not what it once was and unfortunately I experienced it firsthand. DO NOT HAVE YOUR WEDDING AT THE ROYAL FRENCHMEN.
