So my wife and I visited this past weekend. First and foremost, this lodge is falsely advertising as all inclusive. Alcohol is additional costs, and quite expensive at that. The staff was friendly, but didn’t seem to go out of their way to help you. You would have to ask for virtually everything. I feel the cost and services don’t necessarily align… food was exceptional! Compliments to the chef. Blue (hope I’m spelling that correctly) is an awesome individual and good bartender. The room was very nice, but again, price and value don’t really align. If you aren’t familiar with the area, do your research in advance… cell service is very limited in the area and with staff that wasn’t overwhelmingly helpful, it can be a slow go. Lastly, due to our drive, we wanted to check out earlier, and in advising the desk of our intent, they seemed like it was a major adjustment to their norm and had no idea how to handle the change, lol. This place is not all inclusive and the bar is expensive; buyer be ware!
For those utilizing the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform who are seeking a serene and luxurious escape in the heart of the mountains, Snowbird Mountain Lodge presents a unique and captivating option. Located at 4633 Santeetlah Rd, Robbinsville, NC 28771, USA, this property is not a typical roadside hotel but rather an intimate, historic, and often described as "all-inclusive" (with caveats) boutique lodge offering a distinct experience focused on relaxation, fine dining, and immersion in nature.
Snowbird Mountain Lodge boasts an exceptional location high in the Great Smoky Mountains of Western North Carolina. Situated along Santeetlah Road, approximately 3.7 miles from the shores of Lake Santeetlah, the lodge is truly a secluded retreat. The environment is defined by its lush wilderness, commanding views of the surrounding mountains, and a palpable sense of peace and quiet. This remote setting is ideal for guests looking to disconnect from city life and immerse themselves in nature. The lodge is surrounded by 100 acres of cherished history and is close to the vast Nantahala National Forest, providing unparalleled access to outdoor activities. Guests can expect a tranquil atmosphere with abundant opportunities for hiking, including trails leading from the property, as well as fishing in nearby creeks and lakes. The rustic architecture of the lodge, crafted from native woods and local stone, blends harmoniously with its natural surroundings, enhancing the sense of an authentic mountain getaway. While the seclusion is a major draw, it's important to note that cell service can be very limited in the area, contributing to the "disconnect and relax" ambiance but requiring guests to plan accordingly.
Snowbird Mountain Lodge positions itself as an experience-focused destination, offering a range of services and amenities designed to create a memorable stay. A key feature of a stay at Snowbird Mountain Lodge is the inclusion of meals. Guests typically enjoy breakfast, a packed picnic-style lunch (ideal for those exploring the trails), and a sumptuous three-course dinner served in The Dining Room. The food receives consistent high praise, often described as "exceptional" and "delicious," with a focus on seasonal, locally sourced ingredients. The lodge features a Fireside Bar where guests can enjoy cocktails, local beers, and a selection from an extensive wine list (though as noted in reviews, alcohol is an additional cost and can be expensive, contrary to some interpretations of "all-inclusive").
In terms of recreation and relaxation, the lodge offers:
The lodge offers various room types, including rustic-chic rooms in two lodges (Main Lodge and Chestnut Lodge) and a cottage (Wolfe Cottage). Rooms are described as comfortable and well-appointed, often featuring private balconies, mountain views, air conditioning, private bathrooms, and quality bedding. It's noteworthy that the lodge often aims for guests to disconnect, so televisions may not be present in all rooms. Facilities for disabled guests are available, and free parking is provided on-site. The staff are generally described as friendly and helpful, though some reviews suggest guests might need to be proactive in asking for assistance or information, and that handling non-standard requests (like early check-out) might present a challenge due to deviation from their usual procedures.
Snowbird Mountain Lodge is an intimate property, typically featuring around 23 guest rooms. Originally built in 1941, it holds a place on the Register of National Historic Places, adding to its unique charm and character. It operates as an adults-only property, catering to guests seeking a peaceful and romantic getaway. The focus is on providing a serene ambiance where guests can enjoy the natural surroundings and exceptional culinary experiences. The lodge emphasizes a "disconnect and relax" philosophy, which aligns with its remote location and sometimes limited cell service. Check-in is generally from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM, and check-out is from 12:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Guests are required to show a photo ID and credit card at check-in. The lodge typically does not accept cash payments. Pets are allowed (dogs only, no cats) for an additional fee of $150 per stay, and guests with dogs must call prior to booking to verify availability of a pet-friendly room. Parties or events are generally not permitted on the property to maintain the quiet atmosphere for all guests. The intimate setting, combined with bespoke programming (e.g., Birding & Wildlife, Wellness & Yoga, Sporting Clays & BBQ), creates a curated guest experience.
It is important to address the "all-inclusive" claim mentioned in some reviews. While the lodge includes breakfast, lunch (picnic), and dinner in its rates, alcoholic beverages at the Fireside Bar are an additional cost and, according to a recent review, can be expensive. This is a critical distinction for potential guests, as a truly all-inclusive resort would typically cover all food and beverage, including alcohol. Therefore, guests should manage their expectations regarding the "all-inclusive" aspect and budget for additional beverage costs if they plan to enjoy drinks at the bar. Despite this, the overall quality of the food receives high praise, and the staff, particularly in the dining and bar areas (like "Blue" the bartender), are often singled out for their excellent service.
Snowbird Mountain Lodge promotes itself as a luxury mountain retreat and an "all-inclusive adventure" (with the aforementioned clarification on alcohol). Booking can typically be done directly through the lodge's official website or via upscale online travel agencies that feature unique or boutique properties. Promotional offers might include seasonal packages or special rates for longer stays. Due to its intimate size and unique appeal, it is advisable to book well in advance, especially for peak seasons or specific themed weekends. Prospective guests should:
Snowbird Mountain Lodge aims to provide a restorative and inspiring experience, making it an excellent choice for those on the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform seeking a peaceful and high-quality mountain escape where exceptional food and a tranquil environment are paramount.

May 06, 2025 · Thomas SzybowskiAbsolutely lovely stay at the lodge! It was our first time here and we will definitely be back. Staff was amazing, very helpful and friendly. And the food was really delicious! There's beautiful hiking all around the area, or if you're just looking for a place to disconnect and relax, the lodge is a wonderful place to do that too.
Apr 08, 2025 · Angela TerryGreat view. The pre fixed meal was, well, good, but not enough! Dinky bowl of soup, dinky salad, dinky piece of fish with hardly any sides with it. The dessert was the only thing that was appropriately sized…..bottom line: overpriced.
Oct 18, 2024 · MrStuntafuccoAmazing experience in the smokey Mountains! Cabins are cozy and luxurious, and the included 3 course dinner and breakfast is 5 stars!!!
Dec 23, 2024 · Jimmy AbbiatiWe couldn’t have asked for a better weekend at Snowbird Mountain Lodge. This is the best hotel we have stayed in! The views are absolutely incredible, the property is large and worthy of exploring every bit of it. Even in the winter months, our stay and the view couldn’t have been more perfect. We snuggled up by the many fires on the property, played chess, hiked, read, ate the best food we’ve had in years, and enjoyed a curated bourbon dinner! The rooms are squeaky clean, and the staff could not be more accommodating! Everyone we met and talked to was a delight. We are already planning our couples getaway again here for next year. Don’t miss out on this wonderful experience!
