We enjoyed our brief stay for the most part but a few things would have made it much better. Stayed one night to pick up our way back to Tampa, Florida. We have stayed in many hotels since we travel many times up north during the year. We’ve stayed at Hampton Inn, Days Inn, and other same style hotels with much better accommodations than this one unfortunately. The lobby was nice, smelled amazing, the room had a pretty view (8th floor), but when it came to shower time we experienced the water not draining and accumulating during the shower. That was disgustingly unexpected and that is the main reason we give this rating. Aside from that, there was no microwave in the room, and no complimentary breakfast or a juice or water station. The room was nice but small compared to Days Inn or other same style hotels. Elevators could be better too. Plus side is that there’s two elevators instead of one.
For those searching for a "Hotel Near Me" in the bustling Cumberland area of Atlanta, the Sonesta Select Atlanta Cumberland Galleria Ballpark presents itself as a notable option. Situated at 3000 Cumberland Blvd SE, Atlanta, GA 30339, USA, this hotel offers a blend of comfort and convenience for both leisure and business travelers. You can contact them at (770) 952-2555 or +1 770-952-2555.
The hotel's environment is generally described as contemporary and welcoming. The lobby often leaves a positive first impression, with guests noting a pleasant scent and a nice aesthetic. Many rooms, particularly on higher floors, offer a pleasant view, contributing to a more enjoyable stay. The property was last renovated in 2018, aiming for a modern residential-style feel. However, while the public areas might be appealing, some guests have found the rooms to be on the smaller side compared to similarly styled hotels. It's also worth noting that the hotel is an 8-story building with two elevators, which some guests have commented could be improved in terms of efficiency, though the presence of two elevators is a plus.
In terms of services and features, Sonesta Select Atlanta Cumberland Galleria Ballpark provides a range of amenities designed to enhance guest comfort. The hotel features an indoor swimming pool, which is a popular amenity for families and those looking to relax. There is also a 24-hour fitness center, allowing guests to maintain their workout routines. For dining, the hotel has an on-site restaurant called The Commons, which serves breakfast for a fee. It is important to note that complimentary breakfast is not a standard offering, unlike some other hotel chains, and there isn't a complimentary juice or water station. There is also a coffee shop/cafe and a snack bar/deli for quick bites and beverages. While mini-fridges are generally available in the rooms, guests should be aware that microwaves are not typically provided in standard guestrooms, which can be an inconvenience for longer stays or for those wishing to heat up food.
All guest rooms offer complimentary wireless internet access, keeping guests connected. Rooms typically include a desk, ergonomic chair, coffee maker, and flat-screen televisions with premium movie channels, including Netflix. The beds feature premium bedding, and blackout curtains are provided to ensure a comfortable night's sleep. Private bathrooms come with shower/tub combinations and complimentary toiletries. The hotel is also a pet-friendly establishment, which is a significant feature for travelers with furry companions, though a non-refundable pet fee applies (currently around $75 per stay) and there are restrictions on leaving pets unattended. This pet-friendly policy has been a key factor for some guests, even when other aspects of their stay presented challenges.
The hotel's location is undoubtedly one of its strongest features. It is strategically positioned near major attractions and business hubs in the Cobb Galleria area. It is directly opposite Cumberland Mall, offering easy access to shopping and dining. Furthermore, it is just a short distance from the Cobb Galleria Centre, the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, Truist Park (home of the Atlanta Braves), and The Battery Atlanta, making it an excellent choice for attendees of events, baseball fans, and those looking to explore entertainment options. The proximity to these key venues provides a significant advantage for guests, often allowing for walking access to some popular destinations.
However, it is important to address some of the concerns raised by previous guests to provide an objective introduction. Some reviews highlight significant issues, such as drainage problems in showers, which can lead to water accumulation and a "disgustingly unexpected" experience. Instances of broken air conditioning units in rooms have also been reported, leading to uncomfortable temperatures. Furthermore, there have been serious concerns about customer service and staff accountability, particularly regarding reservation issues and a lack of empathy when problems arise. These experiences, while not universal, indicate potential inconsistencies in guest services and maintenance that prospective visitors should consider. The hotel aims to provide a welcoming stay, but inconsistencies in service quality have been noted.
For business travelers, the Sonesta Select Atlanta Cumberland Galleria Ballpark offers a 24-hour business center and four meeting rooms with a total event space of 2,528 sq ft, capable of holding up to 160 people. Self-parking is available on-site, though it comes with a daily fee. The hotel also emphasizes its "Sports Certified" status, indicating its suitability and experience in accommodating sports groups.
In conclusion, the Sonesta Select Atlanta Cumberland Galleria Ballpark offers a convenient location for anyone searching for a "Hotel Near Me" in the Atlanta area, particularly near the Cobb Galleria and Truist Park. It provides modern rooms, an indoor pool, and on-site dining options. While its location and some amenities are well-received, potential guests should be aware of past feedback regarding in-room maintenance issues, the lack of complimentary breakfast, and occasional concerns about customer service, which can impact the overall guest experience. It is advisable for travelers with specific needs or concerns to confirm details directly with the hotel prior to booking.

Apr 14, 2025 · Maya RThe hotel staff at the Sonesta Atlanta Northwest Marietta - The Battery location drop the ball with my reservation that was booked with a group. Their phones were done the day I was coming in from St. Louis when I tried to notify them that I will be checking in after midnight. Because my room was booked with a group, my room cost should have been paid for. Well…they canceled my hotel room. Someone did not do their job right nor wanted to take accountability. Fortunately I had a second reservation to extend a night from the first original reservation because I was bringing my two dogs since it was a pet friendly hotel. The hotel was able to let me into my room early. The room felt extremely warm and I assumed the AC was just turned on and the room needed to cool down. I was wrong. After an hour after going back and forth to bring luggage into my room… I found out the air conditioning was broken and the room was hot like 70-80 degrees hot. I was not leaving my dogs in a hot room to only become dehydrated. I am extremely upset and exhausted. I was at this hotel to be a vendor at an event. I lost money because of this situation and the hotel barely accommodated me. This hotel was horrible and the staff was not empathetic to the situation and made me feel like I was the problem. I have written reviews about my stay because no one at this hotel tried to make the situation right. The hospitality and customer service at this location is horrible. I need to be compensated and refunded my money for this disaster.
Apr 03, 2025 · Tashara EarlMy mother and I took a tour with the manager Bettsy, who was awesome!! We were looking to book a family reunion block and meeting room. However when I spoke with Jonathan on the phone, the sales coordinator, he seemed to jack the prices up. When you look online, you can book this hotel for $95 a night on average. The hotel seems to stay empty most of the time. The manager quoted us a totally different price from Jonathan. He said it’s because our event would be during peak season. My problem is, he never followed back up with us! He never even sent an email or contract ect. Never followed up and had a condescending tone on the phone. I truly believe based on his attitude, that he just didn’t want us staying there, which I hope is not racially motivated but I can’t think of any other reason!! Which is totally fine. We found a wonderful hotel to spend our money. I did like the hotel location and the fact that it was very clean but it was also dark/boring & not a lot of natural light! Was my last choice anyway.
Feb 26, 2025 · AshThis is in a great location. The front desk were very nice. Specifically if you are visiting for the braves game. It’s right by the mall and CardsHQ as well which we enjoy. There is NO free breakfast. The indoor pool and fitness center was a plus. The rooms are average, we got 2 queens and it had a coffee maker and mini fridge, no microwave. There was no noise from other rooms nearby. Overall for the price, we would choose this hotel again.
Apr 13, 2025 · Keri McCarterI really enjoyed myself for Mother’s Day weekend, wasn’t a lot of traffic, quite and the room was nice and clean the room is also fully equipped with a microwave, mini cooler and sofa bed so that was a plus love the widows and the tv was a decent size and you can sign into Netflix or pandora. You will also have access to the Fitness center, pool, and washer and dryer. Plus we also had an office spot in the room separated from the sleep area so I was able to get some homework done. Booked through booking will be booking again. Also dog friendly. Pictures was taking on the day we was leaving sorry.
