The Edward Hotel is nestled on Delaware Avenue, within the historic Elmwood Village neighborhood of Buffalo. This location is often praised for its charming atmosphere, offering a blend of historic architecture, tree-lined streets, and a lively community feel. Guests can enjoy a leisurely stroll to Elmwood Village, which is known for its array of coffee shops, local co-ops, diverse restaurants, and vibrant bars. This walkable access to local amenities and cultural spots is a significant advantage for guests who wish to explore beyond the immediate hotel premises.
While the exterior of the building is described as "very plain" by some, leading to it being mistaken for an apartment building, the interior reveals its true character as a beautifully designed boutique hotel. The hotel's address places it within a convenient distance to many of Buffalo's key attractions. It's approximately 10 minutes by car to Downtown Buffalo, offering easy access to Shea's Buffalo Theatre, KeyBank Center, and the city's lively entertainment and dining scene. Cultural venues like the Albright-Knox Art Gallery (Buffalo AKG Art Museum) are also nearby, within a 15-minute drive. Other notable attractions accessible from the hotel include Frank Lloyd Wright's Martin House Complex, Buffalo Zoo, Delaware Park, and the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural National Historic Site.
For guests traveling by car, The Edward Hotel offers complimentary self-parking on-site, though it is described as "small but still sufficient" given the hotel's limited number of rooms. There is also free street parking and a paid parking ramp across the street, providing alternative options if the on-site lot is full. The hotel is about 15 km (approximately 19 minutes by car) from Buffalo Niagara International Airport, and relatively close to train stations, adding to its accessibility for various modes of transport.
The Edward Hotel distinguishes itself through its intimate scale and meticulous attention to detail. With only nine individually named rooms, the hotel offers a personalized and home-like atmosphere. Each room is "beautifully appointed," featuring "unique decor" that adds "character and warmth," making every stay a distinct experience. The emphasis on individuality and thoughtful curation creates a refreshing contrast to the often standardized design of conventional hotels.
Rooms are equipped with high-quality amenities to ensure a comfortable stay. Guests rave about the "very comfortable" bedding, including pillow-top beds with premium linens. Other in-room features include air conditioning, Smart TVs with digital channels (60-inch in some rooms), complimentary wireless internet access (Wi-Fi), coffee/tea makers (Keurig in some instances), mini-fridges, and private bathrooms with showers (some with rainfall showerheads or jetted tubs), hairdryers, and complimentary toiletries. While one guest noted the lack of a full-length mirror in their room and an initial delay in hot water for the shower, these appear to be minor issues against the backdrop of an otherwise wonderful experience.
One of the most cherished features of The Edward Hotel is its inviting common areas. The "cozy tea room/common area," complete with a "lovely little fireplace," is highlighted as a "peaceful retreat" perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. This space, along with a "sun room/solarium" with large windows, offers guests comfortable spots for relaxation, reading, or enjoying a complimentary cup of coffee or tea. The hotel also has a snack bar/deli, further enhancing convenience.
The self check-in process is a unique and convenient feature, with access codes for the building and rooms sent to guests prior to arrival. This allows for a seamless and flexible arrival, particularly for those with late check-ins. While this means there isn't always a physical front desk presence, guests praise the "responsive and helpful remote staff" who are highly communicative and accommodating via text or phone. Daily housekeeping ensures rooms are consistently clean and tidy.
The hotel is a 100% non-smoking property and is adults-only, contributing to a serene and sophisticated atmosphere. It also offers soundproofed rooms, enhancing guest tranquility. Meeting/banquet facilities are available, making it suitable for small events or gatherings.
Despite the self check-in model, the human element at The Edward Hotel shines through its exceptional staff. Guests consistently commend individuals like Erin, the manager, who "went above and beyond to make our stay exceptional." The staff is described as "welcoming, attentive, and incredibly accommodating," showcasing a dedication to personalized service that creates an "unforgettable stay." This high level of customer care contributes significantly to the feeling of being in a "true home away from home." The swift and polite communication from the staff regarding access codes and addressing any concerns ensures a smooth and pleasant experience.
The overall sentiment from guests is overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing an eagerness to return, calling it a "wonderful place to stay" and "highly, highly recommend this hidden gem." The unique personality and thoughtful design of the hotel, combined with the excellent service, create a refreshing and memorable lodging option in Buffalo.
For those searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in Buffalo who desire a distinctive and upscale experience beyond standard chain hotels, The Edward Hotel is an excellent choice. Its boutique nature means it's not a large, impersonal establishment, but rather an intimate setting that prioritizes guest comfort and aesthetic appeal. Given its limited number of rooms, it is advisable to book well in advance, especially during peak seasons or for special occasions.
Direct contact is recommended for the most current information and best rates. The hotel's phone number is (716) 355-1296 or +1 716-355-1296. Guests can also visit their official website to explore room options, amenities, and potentially find any special offers or packages. While no specific promotions are detailed in the provided reviews, boutique hotels often offer unique packages for romantic getaways, anniversary celebrations, or cultural immersion experiences that could enhance a stay at The Edward Hotel.
Travelers should note the self check-in process and ensure they receive the access codes prior to arrival. For those unfamiliar with the area, looking for the address carefully might be necessary as the exterior might not immediately resemble a typical hotel. The small parking lot, while sufficient for the limited number of rooms, is also worth noting. However, these minor points are generally outweighed by the overwhelmingly positive feedback regarding the hotel's charm, cleanliness, comfort, and the exceptional service provided by its attentive staff.

May 20, 2025 · Kathleen CampbellI recently booked this hotel for 1 night to celebrate an anniversary. I stayed in the Plum room. The hotel does self check-in, which is very convenient! The code to enter the building and the room was sent to me by the staff several hours before I arrived. I would recommend that a large sign be put outside on the lawn that says "edward hotel". I don't know the area at all, and so I drove right past it by accident. The exterior of the building is very plain, so i mistook it for an apartment building. The parking lot is small but still sufficient since the hotel has limited rooms/guests anyway. The interior of the hotel is absolutely beautiful and very clean. It's refreshing to stay at a place like this that's got lots of personality and unique features, as compared to the more conventional and plainly designed hotels. The sun room is nice for relaxing and drinking coffee/tea. The plum room was very clean, beautiful, and spacious. The bedding was very comfortable. I do wish there was a full-length mirror inside the room, though, because there is only one small round mirror above the sink. I would also add that it took quite a while for the shower to warm up to hot water the first time I turned it on, but after that there were no worries. Considering the minor issues i listed here, i think this is a wonderful place to stay.
May 21, 2025 · Anika GriffithsStaying at The Edward was such an unexpected pleasure. I'm a professional musician, and was in Buffalo auditioning for a contract with a major cruise line. I chose The Edward simply because it was affordable, and within walking distance of where I had to be for my audition. I couldn't be happier with my decision. First of all the style/decor was well beyond expectation, the room was beautiful and the whole place had such a vibe. And then there was the service, which was in a league of its own. The GM Erin was so friendly and accommodating! I knew nothing about Buffalo prior to my brief visit, and The Edward turned out to be in a really great part of town. There was a bar right across the street with excellent food and locally brewed lager. And it was only a few blocks walk to Elmwood Village which was a really fun area with coffee shops, restaurants, record stores, and an artsy vibe. People were friendly, and It was very enjoyable to just walk around, explore, and take in all the beautiful architecture and old churches with amazing stained glass windows. I landed the gig, and staying at The Edward was a huge part of manifesting a success! It's a place I will fondly remember, would absolutely book again, and can't recommend highly enough!
May 02, 2025 · Grady DiPietroThis is an excellent boutique accommodation in a historic neighborhood in Buffalo. Each room has its own design theme. Downstairs, the living room has two love seats next to a large fireplace. There are nice coffee shops down the street. I would definitely stay there again!
May 05, 2025 · Patrick CulkeenConveniently located, very nice and clean. The bed was comfortable and the shower was hot. Keyless entry made life easy. Juicy Burger is across the street and had great service and good drinks. The photos on the website look just like the room.
