My husband and I stayed here for a night while in town for a show, and it did not disappoint! The front desk staff were kind, informative, and attentive. They contributed greatly to the welcoming atmosphere of the hotel. You can tell the hotel has been thoughtfully designed from the lobby and rooms, to even the elevator and staircase. Everything flows together beautifully. Speaking of beautiful, the room was breathtaking. We stayed in a king room overlooking Market Square, which offered some great views! The bed and pillows were soft and allowed for a peaceful nights sleep. We paid to valet park our vehicle which I highly recommend. Overall a great experience!

The Oliver Hotel's location is undoubtedly one of its strongest attributes. Situated just off Market Square, it places guests directly amidst Knoxville's most vibrant and walkable urban district. Market Square is a hub of activity, offering an array of local shops, diverse restaurants, lively bars, and regular events and markets, ensuring there's always something to see and do right outside the hotel's doors. One satisfied guest enthusiastically noted, "The location is great, and you are within walking distance of so many shops and restaurants."
The hotel itself occupies a handsome 1876-vintage building, lending it a historical appeal that is both charming and unique. This historical integration is evident in the hotel's design, which thoughtfully blends period architectural details with a contemporary color palette and mid-century modern furnishings. As one reviewer remarked, "You can tell the hotel has been thoughtfully designed from the lobby and rooms, to even the elevator and staircase. Everything flows together beautifully." This creates an environment that is both elegant and inviting.
Beyond Market Square, the hotel offers convenient access to other key Knoxville landmarks. It is within walking distance of the East Tennessee History Center, the Tennessee Theatre, and the Knoxville Convention Center. World's Fair Park and the University of Tennessee Knoxville campus are also easily reachable, making it an excellent base for various purposes, from leisure exploration to attending events or visiting students. While some guests have noted potential street noise due to the central location, rooms often offer "great views" overlooking Market Square, adding to the urban experience.

One customer raved, "The front desk staff were kind, informative, and attentive. They contributed greatly to the welcoming atmosphere of the hotel." Another long-term guest shared, "We have enjoyed exceptional service every time." This dedication to guest care is a consistent theme in positive reviews.
A highly recommended service is the valet parking, which guests find immensely convenient in the downtown area. As one reviewer stated, "We paid to valet park our vehicle which I highly recommend. Additionally, guests have access to Tupelo Honey Cafe, a modern Southern comfort-food establishment, which is also located on-site. Other essential services include complimentary Wi-Fi available throughout the hotel, a 24-hour front desk, concierge services to assist with local recommendations, and a business center. Housekeeping services are provided, though a previous review mentioned issues with cleanliness and a broken in-room appliance, indicating potential areas for improvement in consistency.

Apr 08, 2025 · Tim HaynesEveryone that worked at The Oliver Hotel was incredibly kind and friendly. I wasn’t feeling the best, and they sent up hot tea and did everything to help. The location is absolutely perfect being right on the square, and the room we stayed in was the nicest room we have ever experienced (The Oliver Suite). We were a little worried that it might be too loud at night, but it wasn’t, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Absolutely fantastic experience that we would do year after year!
Feb 09, 2025 · Emily WalkerThe hotel was great! Well designed, comfortable, accommodating, and located right next to things to do. We brought our x-large dog. Welcome champagne and two free cocktails that were outstanding drinks. Great stay. Would stay again, no doubt.
