For users searching on "Hotels Near Of Me," finding the right accommodation often involves weighing various factors, from proximity to price, and critically, the overall experience. This objective introduction aims to provide a comprehensive look at The Schenectady Inn & Suites, located at 167 Nott Terrace, Schenectady, NY 12308, USA. It's important to present a balanced perspective, drawing on available information and customer feedback to help potential guests make informed decisions.
The Schenectady Inn & Suites positions itself as an accessible lodging option in Schenectady, New York. Its phone number is (518) 370-3297, and the mobile phone number is +1 518-370-3297. When considering a hotel through a "Hotels Near Of Me" platform, location is often a primary driver. The address places it within Schenectady, a city with its own unique character, offering a mix of historical sites, educational institutions like Union College, and local businesses. The exact proximity to specific points of interest would depend on a user's individual needs and travel plans, which is where the "Hotels Near Of Me" search function becomes particularly useful, mapping the hotel's location relative to their current position or desired destination.
Regarding the environment and overall ambiance of The Schenectady Inn & Suites, publicly available information suggests it operates as a budget-friendly establishment. Customer reviews, while providing a direct and often unfiltered perspective, offer a glimpse into the lived experience of guests. Several reviews highlight significant concerns regarding the cleanliness and upkeep of the rooms and common areas. One detailed account describes an initial impression of a mildew and cat urine smell in a room, accompanied by observations of an "old blood and purple stained shower curtain" and dirty sheets. Another reviewer reported bed bugs, a roach in the bathtub, and a general sense of unsanitary conditions. These accounts consistently point to a challenging environment that may fall short of basic hygiene expectations for some travelers. The reviews also mention the building and rooms being described as "disgusting."
In terms of services, a typical hotel would offer amenities such as a front desk, housekeeping, and potentially other guest services. The reviews from The Schenectady Inn & Suites touch upon the interactions with staff, which appear to be mixed. One customer noted a friendly and "chill" front desk employee initially, but this positive initial impression was later overshadowed by significant issues. Conversely, another reviewer described employees as "rude" and unhelpful, and cited a deeply concerning incident involving a front desk employee entering a guest's room without knocking and asking if they were alone. This raises serious questions about guest privacy and safety, which are critical considerations for any hotel stay. There are also mentions of staff allegedly entering rooms when people are not there, and concerns about potential charges for damages that guests claim they did not cause. These aspects of service, as reported by customers, suggest areas where the hotel may not consistently meet standard expectations for guest care and security.
Features of The Schenectady Inn & Suites, based on the provided customer feedback, appear to be limited or not consistently maintained to a satisfactory standard. While a hotel typically boasts features like comfortable bedding, clean bathrooms, and a peaceful environment, the reviews indicate otherwise. Specific complaints about features include: dirty and stained shower curtains, unsanitary bedding, and significant noise issues. One review explicitly states difficulty sleeping due to noise, with observations of other guests allowing their doors to slam. The lack of basic maintenance and cleanliness, as detailed by multiple guests, suggests that the advertised or expected features of a hotel, even a budget one, may not be reliably present. The comparison of a $15 Walmart shower curtain to the one in the hotel highlights a perception of a lack of investment in even basic room upkeep.
Regarding promotional information, an objective introduction must rely on what can be inferred from the hotel's positioning and customer experiences, rather than generating marketing copy. Given the consistent themes in the customer reviews, it appears that The Schenectady Inn & Suites caters to a segment of the market seeking very budget-conscious accommodation. This is implicitly supported by the owner's alleged comment, "it's a two star hotel it's going to reflect that," which suggests an acknowledgment of its budget category. Some reviewers indicate that they were placed at the hotel through social services programs (DSS), suggesting that the hotel may serve a specific demographic often in need of affordable, transitional housing. This would imply that its promotional strategy, if any, might be geared towards these programs or individuals for whom cost is the absolute primary determinant. However, the reviews also strongly emphasize that even within a budget context, fundamental standards of cleanliness, safety, and respect were not met, raising concerns about the value proposition for any guest, regardless of their financial situation or reason for stay. The strong negative feedback about the environment, security, and staff conduct would significantly impact any traditional promotional efforts aimed at general travelers seeking a pleasant stay. Therefore, any "promotion" would need to be very carefully managed, acknowledging the feedback and demonstrating a commitment to significant improvements.
In conclusion, for users of "Hotels Near Of Me" platforms considering The Schenectady Inn & Suites, it is essential to be aware of the detailed customer feedback available. While the hotel offers a presence in Schenectady, and may serve a specific, budget-conscious market, the reported issues concerning cleanliness, safety, and staff professionalism are significant. Potential guests should weigh these factors carefully against their own expectations and priorities for accommodation. The information suggests that while it might fulfill a basic need for shelter for some, it appears to fall short on many aspects typically associated with a comfortable and secure hotel stay.

Mar 25, 2025 · michaelavery disappointed. Was put here by DSS for being homeless and honestly being in the streets was better than staying here. Not only was the building and rooms DISGUSTING the people and environment was insane. Was sleeping and woke up to a man (one of the front desk employees) in my room asking if I was alone?? No knocking or anything. Had bed bugs, saw a roach climb up the bathtub mid shower, saw a woman beat her toddler in the elevator, saw a toddler with no shoes on by itself going up and down the elevator, and saw an infant in a dirty diaper banging and crying on the window. Not only are the employees rude they don’t help whatsoever. I’m convinced they hadn’t cleaned anything before guests arrived because I cleaned my room myself and the towel was brown and dirty when done. DISGUSTING do not stay here!!!!

Jul 12, 2024 · May BeeI would give this place ZERO starts if I could! Never ever stay here. I was charged 100 bucks while attempting to check in after making a reservation through Expedia. The charge was made without my authorization and I am still attempting to get my refund 4 months later! Expedia immediately refunded me on their end since I was kicked out of the lobby after midnight with 3 teenagers. Worst hotel experience I have ever had
