Candlewood Suites Secaucus - Meadowlands by IHG

We checked four rooms, and two of them had a strong, unpleasant odor as soon as we walked in. In addition, the hanger in the bathroom was dirty, one of the toilets had human hair on the seat, and the bed sheets were clearly unclean. What upset us the most was the front desk’s response when we asked to have the sheets changed. We were told, “Nobody works now. If you want to change them, bring them downstairs yourself.” When we brought the sheets down and exchanged them for new ones, those were dirty too. I ended up making two trips to the front desk just to get cleaner sheets. The staff was rude and showed no sense of apology or responsibility for the poor housekeeping. This was one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve had, and we absolutely do not recommend staying here.

Highly recommended. Tucked away in an unassuming industrial section of Secaucus is this little gem of a hotel at a great price! Super clean and a quick jump over to the train station so very easy access to NYC! And I absolutely need to heap praise upon the terrific staff....so incredibly helpful and friendly....really made the stay lovely! An extra special shoutout to the GM, Victoria, who was so accommodating with our group of 3 when we got stuck trying to get out the city for two and half hours (getting in at 3:30 am)due to a traffic accident at the Lincoln Tunnel. The extra time she allowed us in the morning made a world of difference and you can't put a price on that! Thank you all and look forward to our next stay at your hotel!

Having an MRI in the morning and this was the closest IHG hotel (I'm a 🪙 member) in the area that was PET friendly. Plenty of parking, clean and quiet location. Jeta and Diamond @ the front desk are friendly and welcoming. I will definitely be staying here again in the future.

I stayed here for 2 months for work. The staff was amazing and always helpful. Specifically Victoria, Nicole(Nikki), and Chante. They always had a smile on their face and ready to help. The ladies would give me good places to go if I asked. Room service always left the room fresh and clean. Sometimes going above and beyond. The hotel mini mart area... I'd avoid. I spent A LOT of money in there. They got plenty of options and nick-nacks if you don't wanna leave the hotel or if you forgot something on the go. All around would highly recommend staying here. Prices varied on capacity, which usually varied with what game was near by. So be warned. Over all. Cheapest place to be within a 5-10mile radius.

Room was good with kitchenette and amenities. The lobby and reception desk felt more like an institution than an IHG status hotel. The desk had glass enclosures like at a prison ward and the lobby was dingy and frankly not up to standard. I paid almost 400$ for the night and it felt like a cheap motel. Also I was charged an authorization fee of 319$ that was never mentioned to me at check in which is currently still waiting to be returned to me after calling about it. My boyfriend put the authorized deposit fee on his credit card and was charged twice! When we called about it they said it was a glitch in "the system" that THEY were not responsible for and offered no compensation for taking $569 from our bank accounts without permission. Will not be staying here again.
