First of all, I enjoyed staying at this hotel and would stay again. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the breakfast was very good - hot and cold options for sit-down or grab-and-go. The Belgian waffle bar was awesome! The complimentary shuttle to and from the airport was very convenient. And the price compared to other local hotels was better and reasonable. It is an older and smaller hotel, but has modern renovations. It is obvious the hotel management is making efforts to make improvements and keep things nice and inviting. This hotel also allowed complimentary parking for 1 vehicle, whereas other local hotels were charging $20+/night to park. So my mother who was driving in to meet me did not have to pay to park, and did not have to drive further to pick me up from the airport. The airport is very close to the location of this hotel. That being said, I had to give a lower rating for a few reasons. The hotel is in a very noisy location. Lots of traffic, almost all hours of the night. People driving by in the middle of the night blasting music, driving motorcycles, etc. Our hotel room was on the street side and we did not sleep well the first night due to noise only (beds were extremely comfortable - good quality, clean mattresses, bedding, pillows). We got ear plugs and slept great the following night. If I were to stay here again, I would ask for a room on the opposite side of traffic to help with the noise. Other cons would be that the bathroom could have been cleaner. The sink area was very clean, but it appeared that the rest of the bathroom was cleaned less thoroughly. There was visible dirt and residue on the bathtub and parts of the toilet and floor that had been missed in the cleaning process. Not enough for me to ask for another room, but definitely not what I imagined the cleanliness standard to be. I also had called to book my reservation, and received no information about my booking, shuttle, etc, which may have been helpful when I misunderstood which location at the airport for shuttle pick-up and missed the shuttle twice. Knowing these things in advance, I hope helps others have a better experience. But like I said, I overall was pleased with my choice to stay here for many reasons, and I would stay here again!

The reviews for this specific location, however, present a stark contrast. One guest had a very positive experience, praising the "friendly and helpful" staff, "very good" breakfast, and the convenience of the free parking and airport shuttle. This review suggests the hotel is making a genuine effort to provide a pleasant and inviting atmosphere. However, another review describes a "terrible" experience, citing issues with cleanliness, a lack of basic amenities, and an overall feeling of the hotel being "gross." This kind of contradictory feedback is crucial for a potential guest to consider. This article will use both reviews to create a comprehensive and honest guide. We will highlight the benefits, such as the complimentary breakfast and parking, while also drawing attention to the significant issues, such as cleanliness concerns and noise, ensuring you are fully prepared for your stay.
The Comfort Inn Convention Center-Chicago O'Hare Airport is located at 2175 E Touhy Ave, Des Plaines, IL 60018, USA. This location places it in a highly convenient area for airport-related travel, as it is very close to O'Hare International Airport (ORD). Des Plaines is a suburb with a mix of residential and commercial areas, and this hotel is situated in an area that is particularly accessible for those traveling by car. However, one review noted that the hotel is in a "very noisy location" with lots of traffic, which is an important consideration for light sleepers.
For Illinois residents, the accessibility of this hotel is a major advantage for travelers. It’s located just off major roadways, making it easy to drive to from many parts of the state. The fact that the hotel is "very close to the location of this hotel" is a huge plus for those with early morning or late-night flights. The complimentary airport shuttle service, which a guest found "very convenient," further enhances this accessibility. Additionally, a significant highlight is the "complimentary parking for 1 vehicle," which a customer noted as a rare and money-saving benefit compared to other local hotels that charge $20+ per night. This makes it an ideal spot for those who are driving to the airport and want to leave their car or for family and friends picking up travelers. The hotel's location, combined with these services, makes it a highly practical choice for a quick trip, despite the potential for noise.
The Comfort Inn Convention Center-Chicago O'Hare Airport offers a range of services designed to provide a comfortable and value-oriented stay, although the quality and consistency of these services have received mixed reviews.
Complimentary Breakfast: A major highlight is the free breakfast, which one guest described as "very good" with "hot and cold options." The "Belgian waffle bar was awesome," which is a great perk for starting the day. However, it's worth noting that this amenity is a key part of the hotel's value proposition.
Complimentary Parking: A significant service that sets this hotel apart from its local competitors is the "complimentary parking for 1 vehicle." This is a huge cost-saver for guests and was highly praised in one review.
Complimentary Airport Shuttle: The hotel provides a free shuttle service to and from O'Hare, which is "very convenient" for travelers. However, one guest noted that a lack of clear booking information led to them missing the shuttle twice, suggesting a need for better communication about this service.
Staff Assistance: One review praised the staff as "very friendly and helpful," while another described a less than helpful encounter with an employee who could not check them in and another who was slow to provide new sheets. This indicates that the quality of service can be inconsistent.
Housekeeping: A key service that received negative feedback was housekeeping. One review noted "visible dirt and residue" in the bathroom, and another had to make their own bed after housekeeping only provided new sheets and not a full service. This suggests that cleanliness standards may be an issue.
Modern Renovations: The hotel, though older and smaller, has "modern renovations," according to one review. This shows an effort to update the facilities and keep them "nice and inviting."
These services, when delivered consistently, create a great value proposition. However, the varied feedback on cleanliness and staff responsiveness is a crucial point for potential guests to consider.
The Comfort Inn Convention Center-Chicago O'Hare Airport has several features and highlights that guests have mentioned, offering a nuanced view of the hotel's character.
Price and Value: A major highlight is the hotel's price, which one guest found to be "better and reasonable" compared to other local hotels. The complimentary parking and breakfast contribute to this perception of value, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious travelers.
Comfortable Beds: A positive highlight is the beds, which were described as "extremely comfortable - good quality, clean mattresses, bedding, pillows." This is a critical feature for ensuring a good night's sleep, especially for travelers.
Renovations and Improvements: One guest noted that the hotel is an older property but has "modern renovations" and that "hotel management is making efforts to make improvements." This suggests a commitment to maintaining and upgrading the facilities.
Cleanliness and Maintenance Issues: A significant negative highlight is the cleanliness, which was a major concern in both reviews. Issues ranged from a less-than-thoroughly-cleaned bathroom to stained sheets and trash in the elevator. The presence of mattresses by a dumpster also contributed to a "gross" feeling for one guest.
Room Noise and Privacy: The hotel's "very noisy location" on the street side was a major drawback for one guest. Another guest was woken up by noise from an adjoining room, indicating a potential issue with sound insulation.
Missing Amenities: A review mentioned a lack of a trash can in the room, which is a significant and basic amenity to be missing, and a broken elevator button with a sign asking guests to use the stairs. This suggests a lack of attention to basic maintenance.
These highlights show a hotel with both strong points, like value and bed comfort, and significant weaknesses, particularly in cleanliness and maintenance, which should be carefully considered by prospective guests.

Jun 15, 2025 · Sarah BoggsThis place was terrible. Immediately it felt gross as in the long term parking lot there were dozens of mattresses laid out by the dumpster. The lobby felt gross as soon as we walked in which was made worse by the elevator. There was trash on the floor of the elevator and the button to floor two was broken with a sign asking guests on that floor to use the stairs. We got to our room to find a stain that looked like something was spilled all over the fitted sheet and there was a clearly a pubic hair on the bed. I called the front desk to ask to have our sheets cleaned and the person working told me to go down to the front desk to get new sheets. When I went down I had to wait 5 minutes for her to go find sheets. Meanwhile, I witnessed the other employee who took over the front desk inform guests he couldn’t check them in because only the girl had that access. She came back with a clean top sheet and no fitted sheet. I told her that was the wrong sheet and finally someone competent (maybe the manager) stepped in and asked if I would like the have house cleaning come and change the sheets. We went to dinner and came back to our fitted sheet changed but the rest of the bed was not made. The top sheet and comforter were folded and left for us to make the bed. Additionally, there was no trash can in our room and we were forced to just leave trash wherever. I can’t imagine what they expect women to do with used feminine products. I was also woken up by the room next to us talking at a normal volume as the door connecting the two rooms let all sound through. Terrible experience, and we usually enjoy Comfort Inn. Don’t stay here.
Jul 21, 2025 · Gavin YatesAlthough they advertise as free airport shuttle be prepared to wait and wait and wait. We have waited for over 45 minutes each time with we have called although they have said that they will be there in 30-40 mins although they said the shuttle is on request On one particular occasion we called at 10:48 pm and didn’t get picked up until 12:13 am. We stayed as a group of six and unfortunately encountered an issue with one of the room’s toilets, which was not functioning properly. Despite making multiple calls—three to four times—it took considerable effort to get a response. Disappointingly, instead of sending maintenance, the staff handed a plunger to seniors in our group and expected them to resolve the problem themselves. This was not the level of service or support we expected during our stay. Do not ever book at this hotel even after it’s taken over by Hilton. We had an extremely disappointing stay. The property is currently undergoing construction, but there were no visible warnings or accommodations to ensure guest safety or comfort. Debris was scattered throughout the carpeted areas, sharp objects were left in the hallways, and several passageways were blocked, making it outright hazardous—especially for families and seniors. There was zero accessibility for wheelchairs or strollers, which is unacceptable. To make matters worse, our room had a strong smell of fresh paint with no prior notice or attempt to ventilate. The key card system is another disaster. Due to ongoing lock replacements, they only provide one key per room, and more often than not, it doesn’t work. When we requested a replacement, the staff was rude and unhelpful, and we were initially told we’d be charged just to get into our own room. It took raising a fuss just to get basic access without being unfairly charged. This place demonstrates a complete lack of accountability, safety, and customer care. I would not recommend staying here until they have resolved their renovation issues and train their staff to treat guests with basic courtesy.
Aug 01, 2025 · PriyaSudhirCAThis hotel is in transition to Hilton's Sparks soon though it's still under the Comfort Inn name. It's remodeling although it's a little outdated. The room is big and comfortable. Breakfast is typical, not much complaining. The WiFi took some time to figure out but it's fast. The location is OK, a little far from the airport but the shuttle service seems good. Also it has EV chargers. The swimming pool is maintained well.
Jul 06, 2025 · J. X. (JX2069)Stay Away – Health Hazard and Zero Accountability We booked two back-to-back extended stays for a team member at this hotel, and the experience has been nothing short of disturbing. This place is a complete failure in basic hygiene and guest safety. The bedding had a visible bloodstain — yes, blood. It’s unacceptable, unsanitary, and dangerous. The hallways were filthy, with trash and debris scattered around. It looked more like a neglected construction zone than a hotel. What’s worse, the staff showed no urgency when these issues were reported. There was no sense of accountability. We paid full price and expected at the very least a clean and safe environment. Instead, we got a complete lack of standards and disregard for guest well-being. If this is how they operate, this hotel should not be open to the public. Avoid this place at all costs. Don't waste your time, money, or health here.
