I wasn’t expecting a 5 star stay but I was truly disappointed about the cost of our room for the condition of the hotel. We came in for a football game so maybe that’s why it was so expensive but the front of the building was damaged and looked like there was no rush to fix it (no sign of construction crew or equipment). The rooms were very old and dated. I’ve included 2 pictures from just our room. Our window was broke and the ceiling had water stains. We ended up moving the stuff in the room from under the stains b/c you could hear an active drip. The breakfast area in the lobby had parts of the wall peeling up and they attempted to cover it with the coffee machine. The building was generally in just poor shape. I am sure the cleaning crew worked hard to keep it sanitary but the condition of the rooms and age of everything didn’t make it feel clean. To make matters worse, we checked in on Friday around dinner time with a 3 night reservation and received a call in our room at 11:00 PM saying we had to come to the front desk to discuss our stay (?). None of this still makes sense to us but my husband was told that someone else wanted to book our room the following night and they needed to check if we were staying. We had it reserved through Monday. This seemed senseless to ask at 11:00PM and need to discuss in person. Very disappointed.

However, it is crucial to provide an objective introduction by also addressing common concerns raised in recent customer reviews, as the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform relies on transparent information for users. A recurring theme in feedback is that the hotel's rooms and general facilities appear old and dated, and could benefit significantly from renovations. Specific concerns reported by guests include visible water stains on ceilings, broken windows, and peeling wallpaper in common areas such as the breakfast space, with one guest noting a "very old and dated" room where they could hear an "active drip" from a ceiling stain. These observations suggest that while the cleaning crew reportedly works hard to keep it sanitary, the overall condition and age of the property may not consistently feel clean or up-to-date to all guests. Some guests have also reported missing amenities like microwaves or fridges in certain rooms, so it is advisable to confirm these features upon booking if they are essential to your stay.
Furthermore, there have been instances where guests experienced unexpected cancellations or confusing interactions regarding their reservations. One detailed review described receiving a late-night call about needing to discuss a reservation in person, only to be told that someone else wanted to book their already-reserved room. Another significant concern involved a booking made months in advance at a lower rate, which was later cancelled by the hotel, with the stated reason being "temporary closure for renovations," despite the hotel appearing operational online and accepting new inquiries, albeit at higher prices. The customer inferred that the cancellation was due to the lower rate, leading to a negative perception of the hotel's reservation management practices. These incidents highlight potential issues with customer service and booking reliability, suggesting a need for clear communication and consistent policies from the hotel's management, especially during periods of high demand. Prospective guests are advised to reconfirm their bookings directly with the hotel, particularly if their travel plans are critical or if they have specific rate expectations.
Promotional information, based on general Comfort Inn & Suites practices, often includes benefits for members of the Choice Privileges program, allowing guests to earn rewards points for their stays. The hotel also frequently aims to offer a competitive value for its price point, especially considering the included amenities like free breakfast and WiFi. When looking for deals, travelers may find seasonal promotions or discounts available through various booking platforms. It is always recommended to check the hotel's official website or major travel aggregators for the most current offers and to carefully review cancellation policies and any damage deposit requirements, as a USD 250 damage deposit is required upon arrival.
In summary, Comfort Inn & Suites in Hamburg, NY, serves as a functional accommodation option for those searching within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category. It provides essential amenities such as free breakfast, an indoor pool, and complimentary internet, coupled with a convenient location near popular attractions. While the hotel strives for helpful service from its staff, potential guests should be aware of past feedback regarding the age and condition of the facilities, as well as reported issues with reservation handling. For the most informed decision, it is prudent to verify specific room features and booking details directly with the hotel and to consider recent guest experiences when evaluating if this hotel meets your expectations for a comfortable and reliable stay.

Jan 24, 2025 · Steve HeiseI typically do not write reviews for places I have not stayed however, I made a booking back on February 14th for 2 rooms at this property, for a concert I knew was happening in the area. The rate I reserved at is much lower than the current pricing, so it seems to me they are wanting a higher priced reservation. Yesterday, I received notification that my reservation could no longer be accommodated. I was informed that this was due to the hotel's temporary closure for renovations. However, upon checking online, the hotel appears to still be operational. Furthermore, I called to inquire about a new reservation and was informed that the hotel was fully booked no mention of being closed. While the representative did not explicitly state that the cancellation was due to the lower rate at which I booked prior to the concert announcement, the circumstances strongly suggest this to be the case. In my professional experience managing a resort and its reservations department, we would always honor a confirmed booking under such circumstances. It is the responsibility of the establishment to manage its rates proactively, and it is unfair to penalize guests for securing reservations at the offered price. During a telephone conversation with a representative at the property I found his level of assistance to be notably unsatisfactory. He didn't ask for my name or confirmation number after I told him why i was calling, he merely stated we are closed. While I understand that he may be managing a high volume of inquiries related to similar cancellations, this does not excuse a lack of helpfulness. While I have made reservations at another Choice Hotels property, the unsatisfactory handling of this situation has led me to reconsider. I will be cancelling that reservation as well. I also intend to share my experience with the Better Business Bureau and among my personal and professional network to ensure they are aware of your practices.
May 06, 2025 · Sierra BrewsterIf I could give a zero, I would. Parking lot is barely plowed and not salted, and had a couple inches of ice on most of it. The exterior front entrance appears to be missing signs or exterior materials; looks like something large was ripped off several areas. Gutters are falling down from all the snow and ice. Staff was cordial but not welcoming, and on their phones a lot of the time. Entire property smells of cleaning chemicals and marijuana. There is no inspection certification or notice in the elevator proving that an inspection was done. There is a black substance coming out of the lobby ceiling vents. The breakfast buffet has few health options, apple juice was watered down, waffles were gummy and the milk spills out of the dispensing container. Inside the room, one of the access cards didn't work on the door and then the next day I had to have both cards recalibrated. The solid curtains did not close all the way and left a large gap for outside people to see inside the room. I found hair all over the bedsheets and stains on the box spring bedsheet. Bedroom walls, bathroom sink faucet and bathtub are dirty. Bedroom and bathroom ceiling have stains. The bathtub handle doesn't have grout on one end and so it's easy for water to slid through the interior wall (hello mold!). The blow dryer's filter has dust clogged in it. The internet is incredibly slow during the day, so unable to effectively do work; not a good place to stay if you plan to do work or conduct business. A set of guests staying at the hotel at the same as me said they found slippers in their bed, slippers they didn't own, indicating the sheets weren't changed before they checked in. Another set of guests said they checked into their room and found there were no windows installed. I accidentally left my pillow in the room after checking out, but upon seeing reviews of people not getting their things sent back to them and the manager being rude, I'll take the loss. In the 30 years I stayed in hotels, this was the worst I've been in. And it doesn't even come close to a hotel I stayed in Arizona that had cockroaches! Incredibly unprofessional that after all the negative reviews, no improvements have been made to the property. This property needs inspected immediately.
Feb 03, 2025 · Will & Erica Dixon-McGrathThe front of the building looked very run down. As we entered the lobby we were hit with a strong smell, I referred to it as bad old man aftershave smell. The smell was through out the whole hotel. One of the lobby lights were blinking the whole time we were there. The room was run down, old ,yucky sofa, curtains broke, just old, needs alot of updates, no heat on when we got there. We had problems getting the door key to work and never got our towels replenished on the second day while we were gone. Had to call down to the front desk for them. The girl at the front desk in the evening was very polite and helpful. It was pretty pricy for what we got. Wil not be staying there again.
Jan 15, 2025 · Amy EllisThe hotel rooms are good at a reasonably low price. Also the hotel staff are very nice and helpful. My wife was driving from New York back to Texas at the end of November. She had a bad day as her car broke down on US-20 while a snowstorm just began. She had her car towed to this Comfort Inn and stayed here for a couple days. We called the nearby auto repair shops but they were all very busy with tens of cars waiting for repair and had no time to take care of ours. We had no choice but to call auto transportation company to transport the broken car back to Texas. However, the company needed a few days as a pick-up window (they picked up on the 5th day eventually). My wife couldn't wait in the hotel for 5 days doing nothing but had to move on in a rental car. So we talked to Brittany at the hotel reception desk. Brittany was super nice and helpful. She not only allowed us to have our broken car parked at their parking lot, even though we were no longer staying in the hotel, but she also offered to keep our car key safe in an envelope and wait for the tow truck driver to come and get it when picking up our car. This is a great help to us as we had no friend in that area and wouldn't know what to do without help from the hotel. Our car is now finally transported back to Texas safely. We really appreciate the compassion and professionalism of the hotel staff like Brittany. If we have chances to travel to the area again in the future, we will certainly stay here again.
