Dear La Quinta Inn Management, I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to provide feedback regarding my recent stay at your Lackawanna location. I have always appreciated the comfort and convenience your hotel offers, as I have stayed here a few times without any issues. However, my latest experience was unfortunately not up to the standard I have come to expect. Upon entering my room, I noticed that it had not been fully cleaned—there was gum on the floor and hair under the bed covers. After a long day, I arrived late and was eager to get some sleep, but this cleanliness issue was disappointing. Additionally, from around 8 AM until I checked out, I was disturbed by persistent banging in the walls. This noise made it quite difficult for me to rest, especially given my late arrival and the lack of sleep I had already experienced. I communicated with the front desk shortly after 1 AM, requesting a late check-out at 12 PM due to my circumstances. However, housekeeping began knocking on my door just after 10 AM and continued to do so three times, even after I had paid for an extension to check out at 1 PM. This added to my frustration as I was trying to catch up on sleep. I appreciate the services provided by your staff in the past, and I hope that my feedback can help improve the experience for future guests. Thank you for your attention to these
For local users in the Buffalo metropolitan area searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" that offer a balance of affordability and standard amenities, the La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Lackawanna, located at 2500 Hamburg Turnpike, Lackawanna, NY 14218, USA, and reachable at (716) 821-0030, presents itself as a potential option. As a Wyndham-branded property, it generally aims to provide a consistent and comfortable experience, though it's important to consider a range of guest feedback for an objective understanding.
Environment and Location:
La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Lackawanna is situated on Hamburg Turnpike, a well-trafficked road in Lackawanna, a suburb south of Buffalo. This location offers convenient access to several key points of interest. It is close to major highways, including I-90 (Exit 56), facilitating travel to and from the Buffalo area. While not directly adjacent to the Buffalo Niagara International Airport (BUF), it is within a reasonable driving distance (approximately 29 km or 26 minutes by car), making it a consideration for airport travelers. The hotel is also positioned to allow guests relatively easy access to downtown Buffalo attractions, such as KeyBank Center, Sahlen Field, and Canalside (all typically within a 7-8 minute drive), as well as the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens (about a 4-minute drive). For sports enthusiasts, Highmark Stadium, home to the Buffalo Bills, is approximately 10 minutes away. The area around the hotel features various commercial establishments, including dining options and shopping centers like McKinley Mall, which is about 4.3 miles away.
The hotel's environment is described by some as being in a "suburban Buffalo" area. While convenient for accessing local points of interest, some reviews have characterized the surrounding area as a "sketchy part of town." This suggests that while practical for access, guests should be aware of the immediate surroundings. The hotel itself is a 3-story property that was last renovated in 2007, indicating that while it offers standard La Quinta branding, the decor and facilities might not be as new as properties built more recently. The property aims to be a straightforward hotel, with a lobby featuring a fireplace that creates a cozier atmosphere.
Services and Amenities:
La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Lackawanna provides a range of services and amenities designed for a standard and comfortable stay. A notable feature is the complimentary Bright Side Breakfast, which typically includes hot items like eggs and waffles, along with other continental selections. This is a significant value-add for guests. The hotel also features an indoor pool, often cited as a key amenity, complete with sun loungers for relaxation. A 24-hour fitness center is available for guests to maintain their workout routines.
Guest rooms are equipped with air conditioning, flat-screen HDTVs (with premium cable channels like HBO), mini-refrigerators, microwaves, coffee/tea makers, desks, and ironing amenities. Complimentary wired and wireless internet access is available throughout the property and in all rooms. The hotel is pet-friendly, welcoming dogs and cats for an additional fee, which is a crucial amenity for travelers with pets. Other conveniences include a 24-hour front desk, a business center (24-hour), a meeting room (400 sq ft for up to 26 people), a computer station, laundry facilities (self-serve laundromat), a vending machine, luggage storage, and complimentary newspapers in the lobby. Free self-parking is available on-site, including space for RVs/buses/trucks.
Features:
The primary features of La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Lackawanna, especially for those searching "Hotels Near Of Me," include its complimentary breakfast and indoor pool, which are consistently highlighted amenities for a comfortable stay. The pet-friendly policy also makes it a distinguished choice for animal owners. The hotel's convenient location near major Buffalo attractions and highways is another strong feature, offering practicality for both business and leisure travelers.
However, an objective look at guest experiences reveals significant inconsistencies in the execution of these features. While some past reviews mention "clean room" and "pleasant front desk worker," more recent feedback points to substantial issues. Multiple reviews highlight problems with cleanliness upon check-in, including "gum on the floor and hair under the bed covers," and rooms being "filthy." Issues with room functionality, such as a "broke off" lock, non-working TVs or heaters, and sagging beds, have been reported. Noise disturbances from other guests running in halls and slamming doors are also mentioned, along with persistent "banging in the walls," which significantly impacts guest rest. Furthermore, there are complaints about staff responsiveness, with issues brought to the front desk reportedly leading to "nothing was done" and "not even an apology," and dismissive treatment regarding late check-out requests despite payment for extensions. The reported presence of a "random pill on the floor" and missing towels further underscores the inconsistent quality of housekeeping. These varied experiences indicate that while the hotel aims for a standard offering, the actual guest experience can be highly variable and, at times, significantly below expected standards.
Promotional Information:
La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Lackawanna leverages its affiliation with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, allowing guests to participate in the Wyndham Rewards loyalty program. This program offers benefits such as earning points for stays, which can be redeemed for free nights, and access to exclusive member rates. Promotions would likely emphasize its complimentary Bright Side Breakfast, free Wi-Fi, and the convenience of its indoor pool and fitness center. Its pet-friendly status is a key promotional asset, appealing to a specific segment of travelers.
The hotel would also promote its location for easy access to Buffalo sports venues, entertainment districts, and local attractions like the Botanical Gardens, positioning itself as a value-oriented base for exploring the area. Seasonal offers, discounts for AAA or AARP members, and early booking savings might be available through the Wyndham website or other booking channels. Given the mixed reviews, prospective guests are strongly advised to consult the most recent feedback from various booking platforms to set realistic expectations for their stay. While the hotel aims to provide a "bright stay," the inconsistencies in cleanliness, maintenance, and service delivery, as reported by recent guests, should be carefully considered when evaluating this option within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category.

Apr 26, 2025 · JeffThis was the worse hotel I've stayed at. We checked in and the room hadn't been cleaned and the lock was broke off the door. Switched to another room that had a working lock but was filthy. The bed sagged horribly. The second day we came back the room and we didn't have towels. There was also a random pill on the floor. People were super loud and running up and down the hall all night slamming doors. All of this was brought to the front desks attention and nothing was done. Not even an apology.
May 04, 2025 · Amber CarterThe beds were comfortable enough. There was a serious leak in the ceiling and it was all peeling and hanging down. See photos. The chair in the room was missing a leg and my niece fell over when she sat on it. The phone didn’t work so we were unable to call for assistance. They were unable to provide a wine opener. No blow dryer in the room.. these seem like pretty standard things to expect. Place could use some serious updates!! Breakfast was okay.
Mar 02, 2025 · shelly jacksonBeds were visibly dirty with black, and yellow stains. Brought it all down to the desk and was told oh well nothing we can do we don’t have anymore, we asked them to wash it. Return back to the room 5 hours later and our blankets are not done and told oh well again. Place is a disgusting dump, unable to go to bed at almost midnight because they didn’t dry the blankets in time and told us come back in 20 minutes to see if it’ll be dry. Horrible service, disgusting hotel that smells like cigarettes. Can’t even go to bed at almost midnight because of their lack of supplies and competence. I also made a complaint with the board of health because this is disgusting and absolutely ridiculous. Contacted customer service about this, offered me a ridiculous $28 credit for a room we couldn’t even sleep in until well after midnight with a child!
Mar 08, 2025 · Jessica KeszBooked a 1 night stay for a quick winterbreak getaway. We were a little concerned by some reviews which were not quite glowing but decided to book because of the reasonable rate and the indoor pool. The location is ok but there are no restaurants or shopping within walking distance. The young man at the front desk (interning here from Myrtle Beach) was very personable at check in. Upon entering the room we were pleasantly surprised how clean and updated it was. The heat was not turned on so we cranked it up and headed right to the pool. The pool was heated and we had it all to ourselves however, the sidewall tiles are in need of a good scrubing as there is a brown “film” around the whole circumference that can be scraped off with your fingernail. The beds are comfortable. We were able to get some extra pillows. The complimentary breakfast was good and we really enjoyed the make your own fluffy waffles. All in all we had a nice time and would definitely book again.
