Such a noisy room. The toilet runs, the tub faucet drips. So we kept the bathroom door closed the entire time. We were on the top floor and the overnight rain was incredibly loud. The "blackout" curtains don't close all the way so the sun woke us up at 6:30am. The AC rattles and buzzes constantly. The humidity was crazy, and the room smelled musty and damp. The whole property smells this way, like there's a pool but there's not one. The mattress was very very firm. The rooms are in pretty poor shape, dents in the walls, need paint badly, etc. Parking was completely full. I know this review sounds like I'm nitpicking but it was literally the worst hotel I've stayed in. The location is the only positive, but it's not enough for me to stay here again. I'd happily stay ten minutes further away, and pay a few dollars more, for any other hotel.

For residents of the District of Columbia and those in the surrounding Maryland and Virginia suburbs looking for a value-oriented stay, whether for visiting family, attending local events, or needing temporary lodging, the Days Inn by Wyndham Washington DC/Connecticut Avenue offers a practical solution. Situated in a notable Northwest DC neighborhood, this hotel provides an accessible base for exploring the city's myriad attractions without always bearing the cost of more central, high-end accommodations.

As part of the globally recognized Wyndham family, Days Inn is generally known for delivering essential comforts and reliable service. While individual experiences can vary, the hotel aims to provide a clean and convenient environment for guests. Its appeal often lies in its strategic location and affordability, which for many, outweighs any potential trade-offs. This article will delve into what makes this Days Inn a suitable option for those seeking a straightforward and budget-conscious stay in the nation's capital.

Location and Accessibility

The Days Inn by Wyndham Washington DC/Connecticut Avenue is located at 4400 Connecticut Ave NW, Washington, DC 20008, USA. This address places it in the northwest quadrant of Washington D.C., a well-established and generally quiet residential and commercial neighborhood known as Van Ness-Forest Hills.

One of the most significant advantages of this location is its excellent accessibility via public transportation. The hotel is just a short 4-minute walk (approximately 0.2 miles) from the Van Ness-UDC Metro Station (Red Line). This provides immediate and direct access to major Washington D.C. landmarks and attractions, including Dupont Circle, Farragut North, Metro Center, Gallery Place-Chinatown, and Union Station. For those exploring the city without a car, this Metro access is invaluable, offering a simple and enjoyable way to navigate D.C.'s expansive offerings.

Beyond Metro access, the hotel's location on Connecticut Avenue NW puts it on a major thoroughfare with easy access to various parts of the city. Locally, it's particularly convenient for visitors to the University of the District of Columbia (UDC), which is right across the street. The famous Smithsonian's National Zoo is also nearby, approximately 1.3 miles away, making it a comfortable walk or a very short drive/bus ride for animal lovers. You'll also find various restaurants (like Il Supremo II Italian Restaurant and a Panera Bread) and shops within walking distance, offering convenience for dining and daily needs.

For those traveling by car, the hotel offers on-site self-parking for a fee (reported as around $25 per day, with in/out privileges). However, it's worth noting that on-site parking can be limited, and guests might need to utilize nearby public parking options or street parking if the hotel lot is full. For air travel, Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) is approximately 9-10 miles away, and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) is about 25 miles. Shuttle services to both airports can be arranged through third-party providers.

Thank you! I was very satisfied with several aspects of my stay. The location was definitely a highlight—being in a quiet, scenic neighborhood with easy access to the Metro made exploring D.C. simple and enjoyable. The proximity to local attractions like the National Zoo and great restaurants was a big plus. The cleanliness of the room was another strong point. Everything was well-maintained, tidy, and comfortable, which made it easy to relax. Also, the staff were professional and polite. While I didn’t catch all their names, I appreciated the helpful attitude at the front desk, especially during check-in and when I needed assistance with directions. Overall, the combination of a convenient location, clean accommodations, and courteous service really made my stay enjoyable!

I stayed at this hotel for two nights. The location is excellent, and the staff were all very pleasant. They charge a parking fee of $25 per night, but generously allowed me to park for extra hours at no additional cost. The hotel is conveniently located near several good restaurants and metro stations. However, I found the room and hotel décor to be quite outdated. I understand they have renovated rooms, and I'm unsure why we weren't allocated one. Perhaps it was because we booked online and received a discounted rate, resulting in a less desirable room. Alternatively, it's possible we were given this room due to prejudice, assuming an Indian guest would accept it. I can't be certain. Otherwise, check-in and check-out were quick, and the staff were polite, knowledgeable, and helpful.

Convenient location. That’s the only good thing about this cesspool of a “hotel”. The lobby was disgusting someone had spilled a big container of something last night before we arrived at 10 PM, it was still there at 7 AM. Parking? A joke. They’re charging $25 a day for a completely open lot, no cameras, no lights. The entire building reeks of marijuana and cigarettes. The toilet makes this pound, random noise every four minutes. They do not have a microwave or fridge in the room, do not offer any time of food or beverages. For $110 a night, it’s actually ridiculous. The real kicker was the $50 secret deposit they do not mention on their website or on the phone during booking. It is completely separate from the actual charges for the room, and front seat couldn’t explain what it was for or why they have it, just that I will get it back after check out but who knows. I don’t mind the outdated room. But I do mind the disgusting environment, shady extra charges and lack of care through the building.

Hotel is good. Price was fair compared to the city prices in mid may. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is the not so good air conditioner. But the employees were nice. The room was specious and clean, and the location was the best!
