The hotel staff at the front desk was very kind and accommodating. The conversations they had with us felt very genuine and they answered all our calls and questions quickly and accurately. Any maintenance or custodial staff we ran into were also very kind to us. However, the service we received from the valet employees was far below our expectations. There was some miscommunication between us and the person that booked the hotel for us, so we were unaware that only one car was allowed per room, so we brought two cars. They had us park off to the side while we figured out what we wanted to do with the second car. Once we did that, it took us several minutes to flag someone down to help us so we could ask for a cart to put our luggage on, even though there were several employees standing around doing nothing. Finally, someone else came outside and helped us. He went inside and told us that there were no carts available and we would need to wait. We then watched as carts were brought out for other guests. While waiting for a cart, we saw two of the valet employees point at us and laugh while speaking to each other. They were both clearly in our line of sight as they continued to keep looking at us and laughing. We stood outside for about 10 minutes and finally just decided to carry our luggage in since no one had brought us a cart. When we got inside, we saw multiple empty carts that someone could’ve bought out for us. About forty-five minutes to an hour later, we saw that the car we checked into the valet was still sitting, unlocked, where we had parked it. When we checked the car in, there were no other cars waiting to be parked and several valet employees in the area that were not doing anything. We picked this hotel because we saw so many great reviews commending the customer service as well as all the awards this hotel has earned. We canceled a reservation we had at a Holiday Inn in order to come and enjoy this hotel and we are deeply disappointed that our expectations have not been met. We have been to hotels with lower ratings and cheaper rooms that have treated us better than this. We paid a decent amount to stay at this hotel and for the staff to laugh at us is unacceptable.

Jun 21, 2025 · YukiMy wife and I loved this place! The bed is amazingly comfortable! Nice bathroom good shower. Two pools, several hot tubs. Nice lobby and breakfast area. It's a good breakfast! Same menu daily; biscuits, tortillas potatoes sausage patties, scrambled eggs, pancakes, self made waffles. Fruit, cereal, coffee, etc. Better than average that you'd expect for a hotel breakfast. The place is very clean and well maintained. Excellent, fast elevators. Valet parking works very well. It's not a level 1 luxury hotel, but it's a solid level 2. I'd stay here again.
May 18, 2025 · Mark JacobsStaying at the Drury Plaza Hotel has been a lovely experience from the moment we walked in. As a history buff, I was immediately captivated by the classic beauty displayed in the huge lobby. I loved reading the tidbits about the building’s history as a bank and looking at old photographs. The staff has been nothing short of amazing. So helpful and nice! I was pleasantly surprised to learn of the complimentary dinner and drinks when we checked in on Friday (not sure if this is just a weekend night activity). The rooms and bathroom are a great size. Everything was clean and neat. It’s right along the riverwalk but not on the crazy loud side. Would definitely stay here again!
Jun 07, 2025 · Hannah McCartyI'm not the easiest person to please. When I book a two star hotel, I don't expect that much. Drury Plaza Hotel is considered a 2.5 star hotel by the Hotel rating scale, but I would place this a solid 3.5 out of 5. The building was created in the 1920s it's beautiful inside. You're getting a nice breakfast where food is a notch above the typical Holiday Inn Express fare, but they also give a dinner option. Is the dinner option great? Truthfully, not bad. Better than fast food choices and three free drinks per adult per night! Yes, all of this included with your room at no extra charge. Who else is doing this? But how is the hotel? Well, excellent! Here is the long list of positives: The rooms are a nice size, the bed comfortable. The AC worked well very. The WiFi not blocking so you can bring your Roku stick, your game consoles whatever and easily hook them up for the kiddos or yourself. The elevators moved reasonably fast. The ice machines working properly. Plenty of carts for luggage transport during check-in and checkout. I heard no noise during the night, in spite of being the nearest room to the elevator shaft on my floor! Good views from the high up rooms. Roof top terrace and pool well kept, two hot tubs to pick from on the roof. How about service? I had to ice my foot nightly so I had to ask for additional ice bucket bags. No problem. We spilt water all over our bed at 7pm and had to ask for an entirely new sheet set. That was brought up within 10 minutes. It is VERY hard for a business to check every box and get all of this stuff right and Drury Plaza Hotel did an incredible job during our stay. I didn't even mention the location. This is on the Riverwalk. You just go the basement and it exit right on the riverwalk. Is it the closest hotel to mall / river center? No, but it's a 10 minute walk down the beautiful River Walk to get there. If you want closer, you can go spend 50% more and probably get much less for your money... Also about location, and this is important to me. The hotel is between E. Commerce and E.Market. Both of these are straight shots to I-37 where you tap into the major highways. You're a 5-minute drive to get on/off I-10... To the staff and management of Drury Plaza hotel, thank you for the wonderful stay. I wish every review I write could be like this one. I won't stay anywhere else in San Antonio.
Jun 05, 2025 · Jeremy DeatsThis is a lovely historic hotel with a great happy hour. I am in the midst of my night here and am furious. When booking, I chose this hotel over others where my loyalty rewards would have earned me a suite for the same price because of the rooftop pool this hotel has to offer. Knowing we only had a short time in San Antonio, we payed the extra $50 for an early check-in so that we could settle in before our 2-4 pm tour of the city. After our lovely tour, we had dinner reservations for 8pm (because we are civilized!) and returned to the room after a 1.5 hour meal to change into our swimming clothes and headed to the pool. We were stopped at 10:10pm at the pool entrance (only one floor up from our room for convenience) by a security guard who informed us that the pools were closed but we could sit on the terrace. It was also locked. This is after we pulled into the parking garage for valet parking only to be told that a small soft-sided rooftop cargo carrier could not be accommodated in the garage. Ok. No big deal. We found a nearby garage. The person checking us in seemed put out by our very presence and gave us zero information regarding the floor we were on, what time happy hour commenced, and especially the rules regarding an abnormally early closing time for the pools. San Antonio, the missions, the River Walk, and the restaurants are wonderful. The hotel is lovely and historic. The customer service is utterly abysmal.
