My friend saw a roach in the bathroom! The heater smelt funny when turned on and the room was freezing. It’s not a nice hotel by any means they didn’t even have an ice maker what hotel doesn’t have an ice maker! For the price of the hotel it’s extremely competitive in the Long Island market to be having service like this. I do not recommend staying here by any means. There are much better hotels throughout Nassau and Suffolk. I mean the Hilton right next door is ions better!

Extended Stay America - Long Island - Melville Introduce

When searching for "Hotels Near Of Me," particularly for extended stays, Extended Stay America - Long Island - Melville at 100 Spagnoli Rd, Melville, NY 11747, USA, may appear as an option. The hotel can be reached by phone at (631) 777-3999 or mobile at +1 631-777-3999. This property is part of a chain known for offering basic accommodations with amenities designed for longer visits, typically featuring in-room kitchens.

However, it is imperative for potential guests to consider the feedback from previous visitors, which provides a critical perspective on the current state of the hotel's environment, services, and overall guest experience. Objective assessment based on available public information, including customer reviews, is essential for making an informed decision about staying at this specific Extended Stay America location.

Environment: A Cause for Concern

The described environment of Extended Stay America - Long Island - Melville, based on recent customer reviews, raises significant concerns regarding its cleanliness, upkeep, and overall atmosphere. Guests have reported observing "a roach in the bathroom," which is a serious indicator of pest control issues and lack of sanitation. The mention of a "funny smell" from the heater and a "freezing" room suggests potential problems with heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, contributing to discomfort and an unpleasant indoor environment. Furthermore, the general consensus is that it is "not a nice hotel by any means."

Descriptions of the lobby as "gross," with a color scheme of "black, red and gold," and the presence of a "dirty looking man sleeping in a chair that looked like a throne," paint a picture of an unkempt and potentially unwelcoming common area. The comparison to a "hotel you'd seen on an episode of Law and Order SVU" and the comment about it being "recently on the news" and "scary" strongly suggest a perceived lack of security, poor management, or other severe issues that have drawn negative public attention. These details indicate an environment that is not only unappealing but potentially unsettling for guests, which is a critical consideration for anyone searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" with an expectation of a comfortable and safe stay.

Services: Falling Short of Expectations

The service aspect at Extended Stay America - Long Island - Melville appears to be significantly below standard, according to customer feedback. The absence of basic amenities like an "ice maker" is highlighted as a fundamental failing for any hotel, let alone one operating in a competitive market. This suggests a lack of attention to guest convenience and basic hospitality provisions. The overall sentiment regarding service is highly negative, with guests stating, "I do not recommend staying here by any means" and describing the service as highly uncompetitive for the Long Island market given the price point.

While extended stay hotels typically offer minimal daily services (e.g., weekly housekeeping rather than daily), the reviews suggest a broader issue with the quality and availability of even essential services and amenities. The comparison to "much better hotels throughout Nassau and Suffolk" and specifically mentioning "the Hilton right next door is ions better!" further emphasizes the perceived inadequacy of the services provided at this Extended Stay America location. This directly impacts the value proposition for guests looking for a reliable "Hotels Near Of Me" option for longer stays.

Features: Basic but Potentially Compromised

Extended Stay America properties are generally designed to offer basic, apartment-style features for longer stays, primarily focusing on providing a kitchenette in each room. While the reviews do not explicitly detail the presence or condition of kitchenettes, this is a standard feature for the brand, typically including a refrigerator, microwave, and stovetop. However, the negative descriptions of the overall room conditions, such as the "freezing" temperature and "funny smell" from the heater, suggest that even if these basic features are present, their functionality or maintenance may be compromised.

The fundamental lack of an ice maker, as highlighted by a guest, points to a general deficiency in expected hotel amenities. Other typical features of Extended Stay America properties might include on-site laundry facilities and pet-friendly policies, catering to the needs of guests on longer trips. However, the overwhelming negative feedback on cleanliness and general upkeep implies that the comfort and utility of these features may be severely diminished. For guests seeking a functional and pleasant extended stay experience, the current state of these features, as implied by the reviews, would be a major deterrent.

Promotional Information and Market Context

From the provided reviews, there is no positive promotional information to draw upon. Instead, the feedback serves as a cautionary tale for potential guests. The critical remarks about the hotel's competitiveness in the Long Island market are particularly telling. Guests explicitly advise against staying here, citing "much better hotels throughout Nassau and Suffolk" and highlighting a direct competitor, the "Hilton right next door," as "ions better!" This direct comparison suggests that for a similar price point, or perhaps even a slightly higher one, vastly superior options are available in the immediate vicinity.

The strong regret expressed by a guest ("I wish I had read the reviews") underscores the importance of due diligence before booking. While Extended Stay America aims to provide a cost-effective solution for longer-term accommodation, the reported issues with cleanliness, basic amenities, and perceived safety seem to negate any potential cost savings. Therefore, for local users searching for "Hotels Near Of Me," especially for extended stays, it is crucial to balance the potential for a lower price with the significant concerns raised by previous guests regarding the quality of the environment, services, and overall experience at Extended Stay America - Long Island - Melville. Prospective guests should thoroughly research alternative options in the Melville area before making a booking decision for this property.

We stayed there two years ago, when we moved, for what turned out to be a few hours. The place was gross. The lobby or whatever it is was black, red and gold with a dirty looking man sleeping in a chair that looked like a throne. The whole place looks like a hotel you'd seen on an episode of Law and Order SVU. And it was recently on the news. Scary. I wish I had read the reviews.

I stayed at this place a decent amount of time in the past, primarily due to the ease of check-in and customer service provided by two specific individuals. Unfortunately, things have changed, and my recent experience was the complete opposite. The staff member was an unfamiliar face. I was unable to check in because they do not accept state-issued temporary IDs. While I understand this is policy and not the employee's fault, the manager decision not to refund my money despite me not checking in or receiving any services was disappointing. This was further complicated by the fact that I booked through a third-party service, which informed me that the hotel declined to issue a refund, which was a possibility Things to consider are that there have been some updates, like a new elevator and a new room key system. However, the hotel still has issues, particularly with cleanliness. The sheets are only washed once a week, which contributes, among other things, to a smell in the rooms. I knew of these issues, and I would suggest using the laundromat in the hotel to clean your linens or book with another hotel 🎲🎲

Very noisy hotel. Got woken up throughout the day and early morning to loud engines, landscaping services, etc. Even heard doors slamming and things banging from the hallways. Otherwise, it’s a fine hotel for a pretty good price. If you’re a light sleeper I’d look elsewhere. It’s cheap, what do you expect

Whole place sucked. I booked a room for a friend coming to visit and they gave him problems right off the bat at check in. I had already paid full price, which wasn't worth it at all btw. But then they was asked to pay another hundred deposit upon arrival which we were never notified about. My card was already on file but the guy kept saying they couldn't use it they needed ID. Then the manager was called, manager realized a card actually was on file and then they used it to pay. So I'm not sure why the man at the front desk was giving us problems about that in the first place if it was possible to check in without all that nonsense. That was the first thing. Second, the room was not worth the price I had to pay at all. A small room with a queen sized bed and small kitchenette i believe for two nights... in the condition that it was in, coming out to almost $500+. Yeah no, but it was too late to cancel. Lights flickered, weird smell, bathrooms were gross, no shampoo, conditioner, soap... nothing. looked like it was straight out a horror movie. My friend literally told me "it was like coming home to cold dinner and a dirty house." After traveling for so long it's not the kind of experience you'd want to have at all. I normally don't write reviews like this but I genuinely felt so terrible that I had picked this place for his stay. Do yourself a favor and just book a room at the Hilton next door.
