The staff was really great, but they could not overcome a tired old hotel that is badly in need of a refresh. The location is good as it is just a 5 to 10 minute walk to a great many restaurants and bars. All the dark browns and dingy yellows really make everything seem so sad and dated. The rooms were clean but had a bit of a funky smell. The dispensers in the shower worked when they felt like it. Having to ask to have the room cleaned seems a bit lazy too. Parking was also an issue as they allowed huge trucks and buses to park around the side...there was more than once where there were not enough spots for all guests.

Four Points by Sheraton Asheville Downtown Introduce

For us North Carolinians, Asheville remains a perennial favorite – a city celebrated for its vibrant arts scene, eclectic downtown, and breathtaking mountain backdrop. When planning a trip to this popular destination, finding a place to stay that offers convenience without breaking the bank is often a top priority. The Four Points by Sheraton Asheville Downtown aims to provide just that: a straightforward, comfortable stay with an unbeatable location that puts the best of Asheville right at your fingertips. While some travelers have noted that the hotel's decor might feel a bit "tired" or "dated," its core appeal lies in its practicality, friendly staff, and fantastic accessibility, making it a solid choice for those prioritizing exploration over extravagant frills.

Located centrally, the Four Points by Sheraton Asheville Downtown serves as an excellent launchpad for enjoying all that downtown Asheville has to offer. Guests frequently praise its "great location walkable to everything nearly," highlighting the ease with which you can reach renowned restaurants, lively bars, and unique shops. While experiences, particularly concerning dining and room servicing, have varied for some recent visitors, the consistent positive feedback on staff friendliness and the overall cleanliness of the rooms indicate a dedicated team working to ensure a pleasant stay. Plus, with amenities like a seasonal outdoor pool, a fitness center, and a pet-friendly policy, it caters to a wide range of travelers. For locals looking for a practical and conveniently located base from which to dive into Asheville's charm, the Four Points by Sheraton Asheville Downtown provides an accessible and affordable option.

Location and Accessibility

The Four Points by Sheraton Asheville Downtown is strategically located at 22 Woodfin St, Asheville, NC 28801, USA. For those of us familiar with Asheville, this address immediately signals a highly desirable and central position, offering exceptional accessibility to the city's most popular attractions.

The hotel's primary advantage is its proximity to the heart of downtown Asheville. It's described as being "just a 5 to 10 minute walk to a great many restaurants and bars," making it incredibly convenient for guests who want to explore the city's vibrant culinary scene and nightlife on foot. You can easily stroll to acclaimed eateries, craft breweries, unique boutiques, and art galleries without the hassle of driving or finding parking. Key downtown landmarks like the Harrah's Cherokee Center – Asheville (an event venue) are also very close, often within a 15-minute walk. This walkability factor is a significant draw, allowing visitors to truly immerse themselves in Asheville's unique atmosphere.

Beyond downtown, the hotel's location also provides reasonable accessibility to other major Asheville attractions. The historic Biltmore Estate, a must-visit for many, is approximately 5.1 miles (8.2 km) away, typically a 10-15 minute drive. The picturesque Blue Ridge Parkway, offering stunning scenic drives and hiking trails, is also easily reachable, with an entrance about 4.9 miles (7.8 km) away. For nature enthusiasts, nearby areas offer opportunities for ecotours, golfing, hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, and even ziplining.

A significant convenience for guests arriving by car is the "free uncovered self-parking on site," which includes "free RV/bus/truck parking." In a busy city like Asheville where parking can often be a challenge and come with a fee, this complimentary parking is a considerable benefit. While one review mentioned parking issues with large vehicles taking up spots, the overall availability of free parking remains a strong point for this downtown hotel. The hotel's position within the mountains also means guests are surrounded by the natural beauty of the Blue Ridge, even while enjoying an urban setting.

Conclusion: Why This Place is Suitable for Locals

For us North Carolinians, the Four Points by Sheraton Asheville Downtown presents a highly suitable and practical choice for exploring our state’s beloved mountain city. When planning a trip to Asheville, especially for a quick getaway or a family vacation, we often seek out accommodations that offer convenience, essential comforts, and good value. This hotel delivers on those fronts, making it an excellent option for local residents.

Its most compelling advantage for locals is its incredible "walkable" downtown location. We know how bustling Asheville can get, and the ability to easily access "a great many restaurants and bars," shops, and attractions within a 5 to 10-minute stroll is a significant benefit. This eliminates the need for constant driving and the often-frustrating search for parking, allowing us to truly relax and immerse ourselves in Asheville's unique atmosphere. The complimentary on-site parking, including space for larger vehicles, is an added bonus that directly addresses a common concern for visitors to the area.

While some reviews suggest the hotel might benefit from an aesthetic refresh, the consistent feedback regarding the "great" and "helpful staff" indicates a welcoming environment where guests are well-cared for. Clean rooms, a seasonal outdoor pool for warm weather, and a fitness center provide the fundamental comforts expected from a Marriott property. Plus, for those of us who travel with our furry companions, the pet-friendly policy (with a reasonable fee) is a huge convenience, making it easier to include every family member in our Asheville adventures.

Ultimately, the Four Points by Sheraton Asheville Downtown is ideal for locals who prioritize a prime location and practical amenities over high-end luxury. It serves as an accessible and affordable home base, allowing us to maximize our time exploring the vibrant heart of Asheville, enjoying its culinary delights, arts scene, and natural beauty without unnecessary fuss or added expenses for parking.

Great location walkable to everything nearly. It was a fine hotel, however numerous inconveniences while on my stay that I have never encountered any other trip. Firstly, my entire weekend stay my room was never serviced once. Even on Saturday when I asked that morning to please have house keeping stop by at some point I came back to my room that had still not been serviced. Don’t understand what that was about. Paid $20 for a stale and crunchy breakfast that is usually complimentary at any other hotel. It was a buffet and the woman who simply brought me water and that was it, gave a deep sigh and eye roll at no tip. About 1pm I was already vomiting and had a case of food poisoning is what the urgent care had informed me. Really put a damper on the trip. Tried to go to the pool as it was 70 degrees and a nice day to only be told it’s closed with no explanation. I’ll find accommodations elsewhere next time.

Jenn is absolutely amazing!!!!!!!! This girl is so sweet so empathetic and genuine to help her community & visitors both. 🫶 The beds here are shockingly comfortable!! They are serta and much better than the reputation a Marriott chain usually has, so I was very grateful to get an excellent night’s sleep in these beds. Rooms have mini fridge & microwave. I recommend 5th floor as some guests on main level had issues with strong pet urine smells as this is an animal friendly hotel. Keep that in mind if you are sensitive to smells or allergies to pets. Walking distance to literally everything especially the convention center.

I have read the negative reviews and i don't agree with them. The hotel staff is polite and helpful. The rooms are spacious and clean. Special shout outs' to Jenn and Crystal who made the whole experience fantastic with a speedy checkin and service. Vending machines were stocked and the ice machine was conventally located in the middle of the floor! Excellent place in an excellent location. Walking distance to many shops and downtown!

Positive features include rooms were inexpensive and on-site parking is included for free. It is an easy walk to downtown. The room itself was fine -nothing fancy but had everything you need. As a whole, the building looks a little tired, especially the outside.
