I really wanted to love our stay here, but it was more like we tolerated it. The person at check in was great & friendly. The cabin however was only surface level clean. The comforter & rug in the bedroom were filthy. The bathroom smelled. It was hard to keep warm with the provided space heater. When looking around the property it’s clear the place is in a state of disrepair. If you are looking for super rustic, you’ll love it. If it was a little cleaner we would have enjoyed our stay more. Great location & close to lots of recreation.

We loved our stay here. I think your experience depends highly upon your expectations. This is not a luxury hotel, they are beautifully appointed cottages. We loved the decor inside and the full kitchen in our cottage and the beautiful rustic surroundings. Everything was in working order and the staff were friendly. It was very close to Acadia and allowed us to have a fantastic visit. We stayed for 2 days in the middle of the week in cabin 16. I feel like we got a great deal for the money.

Ok, I read all the reviews of the cottages after a friend had already booked it and was frankly terrified of what I would find when I got here. first, the bad things. The pictures that have been in the previous reviews with the hot tub on the picnic tables and the cottages in disrepair are accurate. It does appear that they are slowly and methodically working to repair the damaged ones. We stayed in cabin number one, a two bedroom cabin, and found it to actually be quite nice. The layout is a little odd with the sink being outside the bathroom in between the bedrooms. The bedrooms are very small and it would be best to leave suitcases in the living room for more room. That is all the bad stuff. Now to dispute others reviews. We were the cabin right next to the road and heard very little road noise. I didn’t realize how little until we went to sit on the screened in front porch and found how loud it was. Speaking of the porch, a quaint screened in porch with two rocking chairs to enjoy the morning coffee and scenery. Our cabin had all the amenities we could want, coffee pot, toaster, stove, oven, fridge, we didn’t want for much of anything. There is a limited amount of glassware but we made do. There is no heat or cool in the bedrooms so if it is not optimum weather you will need to leave the doors open to get the ambient heat or cool from the living room area. There is a window unit in the living room along with a stand heater. All in all, this place did not deserve the bad reviews that a lot of people have been giving them. When booking this location, please be aware, this is a cottage in the woods not the Ritz. These are nice cabins with modern facilities. Circling back to the hot tub on the table, I just found out that the hot tub had been drained and raised for the winter season to keep animals out of it. All in all, we would stay here again.

The reviews on here are kind of scary, but we had the exact opposite of everything I read. First to note, they appear to be renovating these cabins one at a time, as well as the pool. The cabin we were in, 15, was one of the newly updated ones. This is a step up from a camping cabin in the woods, and not a hotel. You are 'gently' roughing it, and as long as you know that coming into it, you'll be fine. We had a kitchenette with basic dishes and pots and pans to make food. The bathroom was nice and clean, the bed was a simple but comfy enough bed, and the place was very clean. The electric fireplace was also a heater and kept the cabin warm. We had hot water (let it run for a moment), and wifi was fine. The only downsides in our cabin were no hooks or bars to hang towels in the bathroom, though that can be an easy fix. The other was that there's just lights on the ceiling that just... don't work? No switches turned them on, so either lightbulbs are burnt out or electric wasn't connected to them when they renovated. Whoops. Not a deal breaker though. Honestly, it was one of the cheaper options around the area and we stayed here for a week just fine. I'd recommend them to anyone who doesn't need the full hotel service and just a safe, warm, dry place to crash at night.

Like others, when we first arrived, we had some concerns for what we might be getting into. But our experience started before we ever arrived. On our drive down, we stopped at the grocery store to grab supplies for our 3 night stay. When we got to the coffee, I was unsure of what we needed, so called the office. A very nice young lady answered and was unsure what type coffee maker was in our cabin (#20). However, she offered to walk over to the cabin and find out and call me back. I mentioned the stove/oven and she also advised me on the return call that it was a stove top without an oven. Extremely helpful! Upon arrival, we checked in and got settled in. Our cottage was on the front row, so there is some road noise, but at night, we didn’t notice it. These cabins have a feel of an old summer camp cottage. They are older, but ours had been updated with new flooring, kitchen cabinets, dishes, etc. The kitchen is equipped well enough to make some decent meals and avoid eating out every meal. We loved that part. And the location is great to reach Bar Harbor or Seal Harbor easily. I get the feeling the owners are somewhat newer owners, but could be wrong about that. I discussed with one lady all the work that I could see happening. We did have a few issues, but management was extremely helpful in resolving those immediately. Other commenters mentioned being worried about bugs, etc. I always check that first thing, regardless of ratings. They have allergy type mattress covers over the mattress and the sheets are bright white and well washed. We saw zero signs of any concerns about bugs of any type. The mattress is quite firm, but we face that in 4-5 star hotels at times. If you are staying in this area, I recommend that you give this place a chance. It’s a nice, locally owned cottages. They are rebuilding the pool, so that will reopen in the future. They are also building a nice fire ring between the cabins that will be awesome in the fall times. The cabin behind us is being renovated and has new windows and a hot tub on a deck with a privacy fence being installed. The place is definitely rustic and has a lot of updating that they are working on. If you want adventure and to step back in time, this is a great place. If you are accustomed to resorts and 5 star, you probably need to keep driving past. As for my wife and I, we’re glad we stayed here.
