I love Lewis Cottages! It is the PERFECT place to stay. I have now stayed here 2 years in a row, and both times I was absolutely thrilled with everything. First my fiancé and I stayed in a 2 person cabin and it was perfect, and for a great price. The second time we had my mother, father and soon-to-be mother-in-law with us and stayed in the upstairs barn apartment. Both places were absolutely wonderful. The owners always make sure everything is super clean, and that you have enough of whatever you need. I also love that anyone can use the fire pit and grill. The price is also great compared to many other spots around Acadia, and from where I have stayed, this was by far the best one; it was so great, I stayed here again! Can’t say enough good things about Lewis Cottages. Thanks for 2 amazing trips!

Lewis Cottages Introduce

When local users search for "Hotels Near Of Me" in the Bar Harbor, Maine area, Lewis Cottages frequently stands out as an exceptional and highly-rated option that offers much more than a typical hotel experience. Situated at 865 ME-3, Bar Harbor, ME 04609, USA, and accessible via phone at (207) 288-3016 or +1 207-288-3016, Lewis Cottages provides a range of accommodations that cater to diverse traveler needs, all while maintaining a strong focus on cleanliness, comfort, and guest satisfaction.

The environment at Lewis Cottages is characterized by a blend of rustic charm and functional comfort. The property spans 1.6 acres and features a historic inn, several individual cottages, and a barn apartment, all surrounded by an apple orchard. This setting provides a sense of spaciousness and connection to nature, offering a peaceful retreat away from the more congested areas of Bar Harbor. Guests consistently describe the accommodations as "super clean" and cozy, suggesting a well-maintained and inviting atmosphere. While it's noted that guests in some inn rooms might hear footsteps from above or traffic from the road, this is often accepted as part of the overall experience and a common characteristic of many island accommodations. The presence of shared outdoor spaces, such as a fire pit and grills, fosters a communal and relaxed environment where guests can unwind and interact. The overall ambiance is less about luxury and more about providing a comfortable, well-equipped, and friendly home base for exploring the Acadia region.

The services at Lewis Cottages are notably guest-centric, despite being a self-check-in property. The owners are highly praised for their attentiveness, ensuring that guests have everything they need and that the accommodations are meticulously clean. While guests handle their own check-in, the underlying support and readiness to assist are evident. The provision of amenities like mini-fridges, microwaves, and coffee makers in rooms, even in the Inn, showcases a commitment to guest convenience. For those staying in cottages or the barn apartment, the inclusion of full kitchens further enhances the self-catering options. The property also offers practical services such as laundry facilities (though not explicitly stated, common for cottage rentals), and the availability of shared outdoor grills and a fire pit with included firewood simplifies outdoor cooking and relaxation. The attention to detail, like providing fresh bath linens and a pleasant, clean smell upon arrival, contributes significantly to the positive guest experience. For guests with pets, the cottages and barn apartment are pet-friendly, with a maximum of two animals per unit and a $50 pet fee. Pet towels, blankets, feeding dishes, and an outdoor water hose for bathing pets are available upon request, highlighting their thoughtfulness.

Lewis Cottages boasts a variety of features to suit different group sizes and preferences. The accommodations include:

  • Inn Rooms: These are cozy units within the historic Llangolan Inn. For example, Inn room #1 offers a queen bed, private bathroom with a shower stall, cable TV, Keurig coffee maker, and mini-fridge/microwave. While compact, they are noted for being very clean and having plenty of hot water. The Inn is generally not pet-friendly due to its shared space nature.
  • Cottages: These individual units offer more space and privacy. They range from studio cottages suitable for couples (queen bed, kitchenette, screened porch) to one-bedroom cottages (queen bed, kitchenette, screened porch, sleeping up to 4) and two-bedroom cottages (two queen beds, kitchenette, screened porch, sleeping up to 4 or 5). These cottages often include a full-size or mini vintage-style refrigerator, two-burner stovetop, microwave, toaster oven, and coffee maker, providing self-catering convenience. All but one cottage features a screened porch.
  • Barn Apartment: This larger unit, such as the upstairs barn apartment, can accommodate more guests (e.g., 5 guests with a king bed, queen bed, and a futon). It typically includes two bedrooms, two full bathrooms (with shower/tub combos), and a full kitchen with a stovetop, oven, and full-sized fridge, along with a living room. This option is particularly well-suited for families or larger groups.
Across all accommodation types, guests appreciate the comfort and cleanliness. Shared amenities include propane grills and a fire pit with firewood, encouraging outdoor enjoyment. The property also provides outdoor picnic tables and yard games, adding to the recreational features.

One of the most significant promotional aspects of Lewis Cottages is its exceptional value and strategic location. Guests repeatedly highlight the "great price compared to many other spots around Acadia." This affordability, combined with the high level of cleanliness and amenities, makes it a compelling choice. Its location at 865 ME-3 in Salisbury Cove is ideally situated: it's approximately a "10 minutes from Bar Harbor, away from the busy town but not too far of a drive." This offers guests the best of both worlds – easy access to the shops, restaurants, and attractions of downtown Bar Harbor, while providing a quieter, more relaxed base. Furthermore, the property is very close to Acadia National Park, often cited as a 5-minute drive to a park entrance. This proximity is a huge advantage for visitors planning to explore the park's extensive hiking trails, carriage roads, and scenic vistas. The property is also within walking distance to Hadley Point Beach, offering opportunities for sunset viewing. Direct access to Route 3 makes it easy to explore other parts of Mount Desert Island. The consistent return of satisfied guests, as evidenced by reviews like "I have now stayed here 2 years in a row, and both times I was absolutely thrilled with everything," speaks volumes about the quality and appeal of Lewis Cottages. The ability to use the fire pit and grill is also a promotional draw, creating opportunities for memorable evenings.

In essence, Lewis Cottages stands out in the "Hotels Near Of Me" category in Bar Harbor by offering a unique blend of affordability, diverse and well-maintained accommodations, personalized guest services, and a convenient yet peaceful location that provides easy access to both Acadia National Park and downtown Bar Harbor. It’s an ideal choice for travelers seeking a comfortable, self-sufficient, and friendly base for their Maine adventure.

We stayed in Inn room #1, the lower level room. The room was very clean and there was plenty of hot water to shower off after hiking all day! We appreciated having a mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker. If you stay in this particular room, you can hear the people above walking around. Just be aware of that if that is something that bothers you. It didn't bother us but it was noticeable. We enjoyed the location, 10 minutes from Bar Harbor, away from the busy town but not too far of a drive. You also can hear the traffic on the road, but I think the vast majority of the cabins on the island will be the same. This isn't a 5 star hotel, but it is a good option in this price range. No complaints.

Stayed at the cottages in June and had a lovely time. The apartment was clean and comfortable. Great to be so close to downtown Bar Harbor without being in the thick of things and loved having coffee / dinner options right across the street. Also really appreciated the welcome packet Jay and Lisa sent after we confirmed our booking - had a ton of great recommendations and was very helpful in planning our trip. We'd definitely stay here again and hope to soon!

Great little cottages for a stay near Bar Harbor. Access to Acadia and Bar Harbor was great. The cabin was very clean and tidy, and had everything we needed for the week. It was also very convenient to have a cafe and restaurant across the street.

We had a great stay at Lewis Cottages. Owners are very friendly and helpful. Cottage was small but well laid out, charming, and very comfortable, with a kitchenette with all basic amenities. It is perfect for making some simple meals if you don’t want to eat out every meal. Short drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia. We would definitely stay here again.
