Staff was really friendly and helpful. The tents were nice - spacious, comfortable. Loved that we could get a camping-like experience without having to lug our gear to Maine. Food at the lodge was good. Bit pricy but very tasty. We had dinner there the night we arrived. Free breakfast in the AM is mostly cold. But they do offer hot to order. They have a good selection of coffee at the lodge PLUS pour over in your tent - cannot tell you how happy I was that there was pour over! Nicely located near Acadia. Quiet and comfortable. We enjoyed our 2 nights there and would happily come back again!
When local users are searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in the Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park vicinity, the Terramor Outdoor Resort offers a distinctive and highly-regarded alternative to traditional lodging. Located at 1453 ME-102, Bar Harbor, ME 04609, USA, Terramor provides a "glamping" (glamorous camping) experience that aims to blend the tranquility of nature with the amenities and comforts of a luxury resort. For inquiries, you can contact them at (207) 288-7500 or +1 207-288-7500.
Terramor Outdoor Resort is situated on 60 acres of wooded land, designed to foster a deep connection with the natural environment. Originally a KOA campground, the property has been thoughtfully transformed to offer a refined outdoor retreat, with 64 luxury tents spaced out to ensure privacy. The resort emphasizes its commitment to sustainable land use practices, having achieved SITES Gold certification, a testament to its eco-friendly design which includes planting 1,000 trees, using gravel pathways instead of asphalt, and implementing organic waste recycling. The overall environment is quiet and comfortable, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the sounds and sights of the Maine wilderness while enjoying modern comforts. The resort operates seasonally, typically from mid-May to mid-October.
The core of Terramor's offering lies in its luxury canvas tents. These are far from traditional camping tents; they are spacious, well-appointed units with real beds, including king-sized options with premium linens, Pendleton blankets, and down comforters. A key feature that sets Terramor apart for many is the inclusion of private, en-suite bathrooms in most tents, complete with flushing toilets, rainfall showerheads, hot running water, and complimentary bathrobes and toiletries. This eliminates the need for shared bathhouses, a significant upgrade for those seeking comfort in the outdoors. Each tent also comes with electricity, high-speed Wi-Fi (often noted as 500+ Mbps), an electric kettle, a pour-over coffee setup with local coffee beans, and even a portable cooler. Outside each tent, guests have a private fire ring with Adirondack chairs, and complimentary firewood and firestarters are provided, enhancing the authentic camping feel without the hassle of traditional setup.
Beyond the individual tents, Terramor Outdoor Resort offers a comprehensive array of services and communal features. The central hub is the Lodge, a beautifully designed space with soaring timbers and a stone fireplace. The Lodge houses a restaurant, "Kitchen ," serving dinner and happy hour with a focus on local ingredients, including wood-fired pizzas. While dining can be on the pricier side, the food is generally noted as tasty. A full bar is also available, offering craft cocktails and local beers. Complimentary breakfast is provided each morning, typically a "grab-and-go" continental style with cold options like pastries, fruit, and oatmeal, though hot-to-order options are sometimes available. A coffee shop/cafe within the Lodge ensures guests have access to specialty coffee.
For relaxation and recreation, the resort features a seasonal outdoor pool (open from May to October, 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM) with sun loungers and four hot tubs, which are particularly appreciated on cooler evenings. A dedicated Wellness Tent offers spa services, including deep-tissue and Swedish massages. The resort encourages engagement with nature through various activities and programs. The "Outfitter" service acts as a concierge for outdoor adventures, providing tailored recommendations for hiking, kayaking, and more. Guests can also utilize the "Gear Lending" program for complimentary hiking poles, binoculars, and telescopes for stargazing (the resort is in a DarkSky friendly area). Other on-site activities might include artist workshops, guided excursions, and live music at the Lodge. The resort also boasts a pet-friendly policy, complete with an off-leash area for dogs, making it a good choice for those traveling with their furry companions.
Customer reviews for Terramor Outdoor Resort present a mixed but generally positive picture. Many guests rave about the "friendly and helpful" staff, the spacious and comfortable tents, and the ability to enjoy a "camping-like experience without having to lug our gear to Maine." The convenience of private bathrooms and the availability of amenities like pour-over coffee in the tents are frequently highlighted as significant positives. Its proximity to Acadia National Park (approximately a 5-minute drive to the entrance) and the general quietness of the location are also highly valued.
However, some reviews, particularly during peak season, express concerns about the value for money, suggesting that the experience might not always align with the "luxury" marketing at higher price points. Issues such as tents being poorly prepared for cooler temperatures (despite provided space heaters) and perceived quality of the included breakfast have been mentioned. While the resort aims for an elevated experience, it's essential for potential guests to understand that it is still outdoor lodging, and comfort levels may differ from a traditional hotel, especially in colder weather.
Regarding promotional information, prospective guests should check Terramor Outdoor Resort's official website or popular booking platforms for current deals and packages. As a relatively new and unique property, they may offer seasonal discounts, particularly during the shoulder seasons (spring and fall). Special packages might be available for specific events or themed stays, such as wellness retreats or adventure-focused trips. For instance, their affiliation with KOA might sometimes lead to specific promotions. It's also worth noting that Terramor is a popular venue for events and weddings, offering full resort buy-out packages for such occasions, which could include tailored services and pricing. Given its high demand during peak Acadia season, early booking is often recommended to secure desired dates and potentially better rates.
In summary, Terramor Outdoor Resort stands out as a premier "glamping" destination for those searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in the Bar Harbor area. It offers a refined outdoor experience with well-appointed tents, private amenities, and a range of communal facilities. While the "luxury" aspect comes with a premium price, it delivers a unique blend of nature immersion and comfort that is highly appealing for many travelers seeking an authentic yet convenient way to explore Acadia National Park and coastal Maine.

Oct 09, 2024 · Stephanie RutterbushThis is NOT a luxury experience- the marketing and website are deceiving please be warned. As many other reviews have stated, for the total cost of the stay it is much more worthwhile to either camp traditionally or go into Bar Harbor and get a hotel. We went during peak week and for >$400 a night after all is said and done I was very disappointed with this trip after much excitement and anticipation. Tents are nicely decorated and spacious, but poorly prepared for cooler temps and low lighting during peak season. Space heaters provided did not adequately keep the space warm, making it honestly unpleasant to spend extended time in the tent; showering, sleeping, any sort of attempt at unwinding and enjoying the elevated camping experience we were looking for was not a comfortable time. Included breakfast options were 2/5 star quality- all cold except oatmeal. Dinner time food in the lodge is expensive, typical of onsite dining, but again 2/5 stars. We did the add-on grill option one night- just save your money and find something in town. Programs that were included as part of the “resort fee” were held outside in the cold- not ideal. For what they advertise and require you to pay for, I would suggest looking elsewhere for a more worthwhile “glamping” experience.
Nov 14, 2024 · Alexa TepenAbsolutely amazing experience. The lobby/main cabin has everything you could want/need. A full bar, a restaurant that serves breakfast, coffee/espresso drinks and a full dinner menu with the best flat bread pizza options (the pig and fig) and the best beer cheese. They had such nice live music on Friday night to go along with dinner or a drink. Everything inside of the tent is top of the line. You feel totally safe. It is truly the best of camping without the fear/dirtiness that a non camper would be weary about. The staff is so friendly and accommodating! 15/20 minute drive to Acadia national park. 10/10 would recommend
Sep 14, 2024 · megan davidmanThey really thought of everything! I was a little nervous to go here but it exceeded expectations. The staff is kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. The tents are huge and do nice. They thought of everything. Space heaters, extra blankets, full length mirror, double sinks, wagons to get your stuff to your tent, firewood, lanterns, even a cooler! The grab and go breakfast was great especially for my kids to get something quick before a day out in Acadia. The grounds and tents are immaculately maintained and the signage throughout the resort is helpful and accurate. It was in the low 50s a few nights we were there but with the extra blankets and space heater we were chilly but fine even being from Florida. Would definitely return!
Jun 30, 2024 · Laura GalesExceeded our expectations! Relaxing environment! Beautiful, clean Tent….better than most hostels. The staff was so nice and helpful! Breakfast was perfect for our hike. Acadia only 20 mins away. Food and drinks were good. We really loved our experience! The only thing missing was our dog! We wish we would’ve brought her. Thank you Terramor! We will be back
