This is an ok stay for just a quick overnight or weekend stay. Things i hated: 1. Decor/Furniture outdated with stains on the couch and the most uncomfortable bed with a sink hole in the middle 2. Carpeting all over looks old and in need of a deep clean or complete replacement (too much carpeting in my opinion) 3. Walls were paper thin. I could hear every move in the neighboring rooms and floor creaked badly in certain spots of our suite 4. They have these huge old air conditioning units that kick in every couple minutes. It was loud and annoying. Making it hard to sleep (especially with our toddler) 5. Bathroom had shower curtain (personal pet peeve- didn’t know this was still a thing in hotels) 6. Further than expected from the popular spots. 20-30 minutes drive for most places in the city What i liked: 1. Staff was friendly 2. Aside from the old stained furniture, the room was clean enough to tolerate a weekend stay 3. Appreciated being provided with a crib for our little one 4. The king suites are quite spacious and perfect for a family 5. Loved the Dove products in the bathroom 6. Appreciated the included Breakfast Overall this experience was as I expected for a 2 star hotel. Adjust your expectations accordingly.

The prevalence of carpeting was also noted as "too much carpeting in my opinion." Some found the walls to be "paper thin," leading to noise issues where they "could hear every move in the neighboring rooms," and "floor creaked badly in certain spots of our suite." The presence of "huge old air conditioning units that kick in every couple minutes" contributed to a "loud and annoying" environment, making it "hard to sleep (especially with our toddler)." The hotel was built in 1999 and has undergone some renovations, though guest comments suggest further updates might be beneficial.
As a Holiday Inn Express & Suites, the hotel provides a range of services designed to offer convenience and comfort, though the quality of these services appears to vary based on guest experiences.

The general sentiment of "This is an ok stay for just a quick overnight or weekend stay" and "Overall this experience was as I expected for a 2 star hotel. Adjust your expectations accordingly," suggests that guests who manage their expectations are likely to find the hotel tolerable for short periods, but it may not meet the comfort or modern standards expected by some travelers.
Holiday Inn Express & Suites Smithfield - Providence by IHG primarily promotes itself on its brand recognition, complimentary offerings, and convenient location.
In conclusion, Holiday Inn Express & Suites Smithfield - Providence by IHG at 1010 Douglas Pike, Smithfield, RI 02917, USA, offers a functional stay, particularly for quick trips or weekend visits, as highlighted by guests on the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform. While it provides essential amenities like complimentary breakfast, an indoor pool, and spacious suites, and benefits from a friendly staff, prospective guests should be mindful of the feedback regarding outdated decor, potential noise issues, and accessibility challenges for those with mobility impairments. May 11, 2025 · Annette Zelvaninho PhillipsFirst things first, the staff i interacted with was great! Everything else was subpar at best! Mobility accessible rooms for those with a wheelchair are much smaller than other places we’ve stayed, not enough space in bathroom to get the chair in and not enough space to maneuver around the room! Don’t call it mobility accessible if it’s not! Next all the wall electrical outlets are garbage couldn’t even plug anything in without it falling out of wall…last thing on accessibility seeing as the place is run by a hospitality company then should know what ADA standards are make wheelchair rooms more spacious
May 05, 2025 · JamesOur room 112 and 114 smells like wet dog, to be fair though it looks clean. It is also spacious. Price is good also, but I will not go back.
May 19, 2025 · Denise Rigor-ValenzuelaOur smoke alarm was faulty and started going off we were removed from our room for almost 2 hours and they made no effort or attempt to give us anything extra. The shampoo conditioner and body wash was missing from the shower we were accused of stealing it. The whole setup is literally locked in with a special key so for them to automatically assume that we would have taken it when we went with our own amenities was beyond insulting. They then tried to charge my card four separate times to try to get some sort of money for these products. Literally tried to charge me $87 with four separate transactions on top of the $160 rate, and as I said it was never even adjusted after us having to stay out of the room for 2 hours while they "fixed the smoke alarm". We were told that we shouldn't be taking showers that are that warm. I'm sorry last I knew I paid for that room I should be able to take whatever temperature shower I choose.
Mar 22, 2025 · Savanna FreibergerThis was one of the worst hotel stays I’ve ever had. The entire hotel smelled horrible, and the lights were flickering everywhere, which made it feel like a horror movie. The room was dirty and clearly not cleaned properly before my arrival. To make matters worse, they didn’t even have cinnamon rolls at breakfast—the one thing I actually look forward to eating in the morning! The staff at breakfast didn’t help either; they were inattentive. I expected much better from Holiday Inn Express and was thoroughly disappointed. Definitely would not recommend.
