Living in the city, I have both stayed and worked here. The building was slated for demolition several years ago, is currently being used as a migrant shelter and closed to the public. The kitchen / restaurant has been shut down before, the rooms leak, major mold issue and many of the rooms have had deaths occur in them. Avoid at all costs.
For individuals searching within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category in Marlborough, Massachusetts, the Holiday Inn & Suites Marlborough by IHG, located at 265 Lakeside Ave, Marlborough, MA 01752, USA, requires a specific and objective introduction due to its current operational status. While historically operating as a traditional hotel, recent public information indicates a significant shift in its use. It is crucial for potential users to understand that as of recent reports, this property is primarily functioning as a migrant shelter and is not accepting reservations from the general public for typical hotel stays.
The Holiday Inn & Suites Marlborough by IHG is situated on Lakeside Avenue, offering a location opposite Williams Lake. This provides a potentially scenic backdrop for guests, with some reviews mentioning a beautiful view of the lake down the road and nearby dining options with patio seating overlooking the water. The hotel's address places it in Marlborough, a suburban city in Middlesex County, Massachusetts. It offers convenient access to Route 20 and is within a few miles of I-495, connecting it to other parts of the region. Historically, its location would have been attractive for those visiting local businesses, the New England Sports Center (approximately two miles away), Solomon Pond Mall, or other area attractions. The general environment is suburban, with various dining and retail establishments in the vicinity.
When operating as a conventional hotel, the Holiday Inn & Suites Marlborough offered 172 guestrooms across four floors, including 20 suites. Room types typically included Standard King Rooms and Standard Double Rooms, as well as One-Bedroom King Suites with Sofa Beds. These rooms were generally equipped with amenities such as air conditioning, private bathrooms (with options for bathtubs or showers, some with deep soaking tubs), flat-screen TVs with premium cable channels, complimentary Wi-Fi, coffee/tea makers, and irons/ironing boards. Suites offered additional space and often included a refrigerator and microwave. While one past review highlighted a "clean room and a comfortable bed" leading to a "great night sleep," it is important to note that other reviews, particularly more recent ones, point to significant issues regarding room maintenance and cleanliness, including concerns about leaks, mold, and general disrepair, suggesting a decline in condition prior to its current use.
In its previous capacity as a public hotel, the Holiday Inn & Suites Marlborough by IHG aimed to provide a range of services and amenities for its guests:
Historically, the Holiday Inn & Suites Marlborough by IHG was part of the global IHG brand, known for offering comfortable and family-oriented services, often including policies where children stay and eat free. Its location near Lake Williams was a distinctive feature, providing potential for scenic views. The availability of both standard rooms and suites offered flexibility for different traveler needs.
It is crucial to emphasize that current information on the internet, including direct customer reviews, indicates that the Holiday Inn & Suites Marlborough by IHG is no longer operating as a traditional hotel open to the general public. Instead, it is being used as a migrant shelter. This means that standard hotel services, such as public reservations, a functioning restaurant, and typical guest amenities, are not available to the public. Reviews from recent periods explicitly state that the building is "closed to the public" and is "currently being used as a migrant shelter." Some reviews also detail significant issues with the building's condition, including "rooms leak, major mold issue," and a "kitchen / restaurant has been shut down." While there is a past review from someone who had a clean room and good sleep, the predominant and most recent information suggests that the property's primary function and condition are not aligned with typical hotel operations for the public. Therefore, promotional information for traditional hotel stays is not applicable at this time. Potential users looking for "Hotels Near Of Me" should be aware that this specific property is not currently an option for their typical accommodation needs. For any official inquiries, the phone number provided is (508) 481-3000 or +1 508-481-3000, but it is important to understand its current operational context.

Mar 10, 2025 · Gumbo PieI had a clean room and a comfortable bed. Had a great night sleep. If you go down the road there is a beautiful view of the lake and there is a burger place near by with patio seating to view the lake. Breakfast in the restaurant was your typical eggs/sausage/waffle buffet setup and was clean and fresh. I would definitely stay here again.
Sep 07, 2023 · Rob HammersmithI had an incredibly disappointing experience at this hotel. Not only was there no bathroom fan, but the absence of water fountains was inconvenient. Charging for water felt like a money grab, and the pricey breakfast was far from justified. The unkempt lawn and non-functional thermostats added to the frustration. On top of it all, the overall cleanliness was severely lacking. I wouldn't recommend staying here at all.
Aug 30, 2023 · Jon HuntStayed at the Holiday Inn while traveling for work. Nice spacious rooms, clean sheets and towels, hot breakfast available, and complimentary coffee. Staff was friendly and helpful. Hotel has a restaurant and is in walking distance of other restaurants. Plenty of parking. Honestly thought the bathroom could have been cleaner and the room and furnishings showed their age. Overall it worked for my needs.
Mar 10, 2023 · Dusti McEwenHotel felt a little dated throughout. Bed was comfy but room was also a bit humid (had AC cranked but didn't help that much). No complimentary breakfast at all. Decent place to stop and sleep for a night as we did.
