We checked in easily with no issues. When we got to the room it was open and some outside workers plugged their tools into the room. The receptionist fixed the issue quickly. Once in the room, there was a very strong smell of bleach. I sat on the bed and I realised my jeans had been bleached all over from the bed. The reception did not do anything to compensate my jeans that was more expensive than the room. They did gave us a complimentary room upgrade like they made us a favor. The new room is dirty, the bed is not comfortable and I am worried to touch anything to not have bleach all over me again. The place is also far from everything. Overall, very bad experience.

HomeTowne Studios Mystic - New London Introduce

For those searching within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category in the New London, Connecticut area, particularly for extended stays, the HomeTowne Studios Mystic - New London, located at 707 Colman St Building B, New London, CT 06320, USA, may appear as an option. This hotel, part of the Red Roof Inn family, aims to provide budget-friendly accommodations with features suited for longer visits. However, an objective introduction requires a balanced look at both its intended offerings and the realities reported by guests.

The environment of HomeTowne Studios Mystic - New London presents a mixed picture based on guest feedback. While the hotel is positioned as a budget-friendly extended stay option, reviews suggest that its overall appearance can be "a bit dated." Some reports indicate that the property may not always maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, with mentions of dirty rooms, rusty bathtubs, and general wear and tear such as mismatched toilet tank lids and loose outdoor door handles. A significant concern raised by guests is the strong smell of bleach in some rooms upon arrival, and in more severe cases, the presence of bugs, described as "small roaches," on floors and walls, leading to room changes. Conversely, some online descriptions from the brand highlight that the hotel was "remodeled in 2023," which could imply efforts to improve the environment. The property is located off I-95 and I-81, making it accessible for travelers, but some guests have noted it feels "far from everything," which can impact convenience for those without personal transportation. The exterior and parking lot, while offering free self-parking, have not been consistently described as pristine. The general atmosphere, as implied by reviews, leans towards a no-frills, functional environment that may prioritize affordability over aesthetic polish or meticulous upkeep.

In terms of services, HomeTowne Studios Mystic - New London offers several amenities designed to support extended stays. A key service is the provision of kitchenettes in every room, which typically include a full-sized refrigerator/freezer, microwave, and dining area. While guests appreciate having these facilities for preparing their own meals, it's important to note that dishes are not provided in the rooms but "kitchen kits are available for purchase at the front desk for a low fee." The hotel also offers free in-room Wi-Fi, a crucial service for both leisure and business travelers, although the consistency and speed of this service are not always guaranteed to be optimal based on general guest experiences at budget properties. For guest convenience, there are on-site laundry facilities, which are highly valued for longer stays. The front desk operates 24 hours, aiming to assist with check-in and other inquiries, and staff are generally described as quick to fix issues like room accessibility, as noted by one guest. However, experiences with staff vary, with one review detailing a lack of compensation for damaged personal property despite a complimentary room upgrade. Housekeeping services are provided on request, with daily cleaning for stays of six nights or less and limited housekeeping for longer stays. The hotel is generally non-smoking. It's important to clarify the pet policy as some general brand information might conflict with specific hotel policies; while some HomeTowne Studios are pet-friendly, this specific location reportedly does not allow pets, though service animals are welcome. Guests can contact the hotel at (860) 444-0001 or +1 860-444-0001 for specific service inquiries.

The features of HomeTowne Studios Mystic - New London are primarily centered around providing essential comforts for self-sufficient travelers. Each studio room is equipped with a kitchenette, a private bathroom with a shower/tub combination, flat-screen TVs with premium channels, and individual air conditioning/heating. Rooms typically offer comfortable Serta beds, and there's ample storage space. Free local and long-distance calls are also mentioned as a feature. The room types include Studio King Rooms and Studio Rooms with Two Double Beds, with varying square footage, suggesting options for different group sizes or needs. The presence of a safe in the room is also listed as a feature. Accessibility features include wheelchair accessibility, smooth flooring in public areas, and a well-lit path to the entrance, though upper floors are accessible by stairs only. The hotel's location is a practical feature for those needing to be near major highways like I-95 and I-81, and it's within a reasonable driving distance of key attractions in the region, such as Mystic Aquarium, Mystic Seaport Museum, and both Mohegan Sun Casino (approximately a 17-minute drive) and Foxwoods Resort Casino (approximately a 24-minute drive). It's also close to the New London Ferry Dock and the United States Coast Guard Academy. The hotel emphasizes its suitability for exploring Connecticut's maritime, military, and historic attractions.

From a promotional standpoint, HomeTowne Studios Mystic - New London positions itself as an affordable extended-stay option under the Red Roof Inn brand. Its key selling points are the in-room kitchenettes, free Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, and its strategic location for accessing local attractions and major transportation routes. Online travel agencies and the Red Roof Inn website are the primary channels for booking and finding information about the hotel. The contact numbers, (860) 444-0001 and +1 860-444-0001, are available for direct inquiries. While promotional materials emphasize convenience and affordability, it is crucial for prospective guests to temper their expectations with the experiences shared in customer reviews. Many reviews categorize the stay as "very bad experience" or advise to "Stay elsewhere!" citing issues with cleanliness, room condition, and bug infestations. Some reviews explicitly warn against "Fake 5-star reviews." These candid guest experiences serve as a significant form of promotional (or counter-promotional) information, highlighting potential discrepancies between advertised features and actual guest satisfaction. Therefore, while the hotel aims to attract guests with its extended-stay amenities and budget-friendly pricing, prospective visitors should thoroughly review recent guest feedback to make an informed decision when searching for "Hotels Near Of Me."

Stay elsewhere! Fake 5-star reviews are not helping anyone here. Kitchenette is just an extra sink and bigger fridge. Bathtub was rusty and gross. Toilet tank had a mismatched lid that didn’t cover it. Had to change rooms in the middle of the night when at least a dozen bugs appeared all over the floor and walls. Small roaches maybe. New room was not in any better condition except no visible bugs, though it smelled like someone had been smoking in there. Outdoor door handle seemed like it was about to fall off.

I honestly have never had an issue with red roof of any kind before but this experience was just unacceptable. I had pre booked and prepaid for the largest room type the king suite. Upon arrival to the red roof I was told that there was a problem with the rooms system and that they would be "upgrading me". The upgrade included charging me the same price for a smaller room. I sais out loud to the satff that it wasnt necessarily an upgrade, but as long as it caught me a room.I was okay with it. Upon entering the room we were met with the overwhelming smell of mildew and mold. The bed was about the only clean thing in the room. There was dirty counters, mold on the ceiling in the bathroom, mold in the air conditioner/ heater, mold on the safe and mold in the coffee pot. The room looked like it had been used and slapped together quickly. In the morning I went to the desk and made my concerns and complaints known to the day staff and they told me that the night girls had most likely double booked my original room and given me a dirty room. Of course there was no manager present so I asked that she take my name and phone number so that they could contact me when available.
