My experience at this hotel was extremely disappointing. From the moment I entered my room, there was a strong, unpleasant odor that made the space feel unclean. The sofas were heavily stained and visibly dirty, making it uncomfortable to sit or relax. It was clear that proper cleaning and maintenance had been neglected, leaving the room feeling far from welcoming. The condition of the hallways was just as bad, with a strong mildew smell poorly masked by air fresheners. Instead of addressing the root of the issue, it seemed like the hotel was simply trying to cover it up. The overall atmosphere was uninviting, and it was evident that a basic cleaning crew wouldn’t be enough to fix the deep-seated problems throughout the building. The only positive aspect of my stay was the night shift front desk staff, who was kind and professional. However, even great customer service couldn’t make up for the terrible state of the hotel. I would strongly advise fellow cheer parents and other travelers to avoid this place entirely. At this point, a full demolition would be more effective than a simple cleaning—this hotel is beyond repair. I had a better chance sleeping in my car in hopes of avoiding bedbugs.
For those searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in the Waterford, Connecticut area, particularly with a focus on proximity to Mystic and New London, the SpringHill Suites Mystic Waterford, located at 401 N Frontage Rd, Waterford, CT 06385, USA, is a prominent option. As part of the Marriott brand, this all-suite hotel aims to offer a comfortable and spacious stay with amenities designed for both short visits and extended trips. However, an objective introduction necessitates a comprehensive look at the hotel's reported environment, services, features, and promotional information, incorporating both official descriptions and varied guest experiences.
The environment of SpringHill Suites Mystic Waterford, while marketed as a refreshing balance of space and design, has elicited diverse opinions from guests. Officially, the hotel is situated in "Mystic Country" near I-95, making it easily accessible and convenient for exploring local attractions. The lobby is generally described as welcoming and "somewhat clean," though some reviews suggest it "could use some updates." However, critical guest feedback points to significant environmental issues within the building. Strong, unpleasant odors, including a "strong mildew smell," have been reported in both rooms and hallways. These odors are sometimes described as being poorly masked by air fresheners, suggesting a deeper underlying problem. Rooms have been noted for feeling "unclean," with "heavily stained and visibly dirty" sofas. Such conditions raise concerns about the overall cleanliness and maintenance of the property, despite official claims of adherence to Marriott's "Commitment to Clean" practices. The general atmosphere, for some guests, has been uninviting and has led to extreme dissatisfaction, with one guest suggesting a "full demolition would be more effective than a simple cleaning" and expressing worry about "bedbugs." This stark contrast in perceptions of the environment is a critical consideration for potential visitors.
In terms of services, SpringHill Suites Mystic Waterford offers several key amenities that are typically appealing to travelers. A major draw is the complimentary hot breakfast buffet, which is served daily and includes a variety of options. While some guests have praised the breakfast as "great" or "excellent," others have found the hot items to be "marginal" or from pre-made frozen items, indicating a potential variation in quality. The hotel features an indoor heated pool, which is a popular amenity for families and relaxation. However, a significant concern from reviews is that the pool room can be "very hot" and uncomfortable if not actually in the water. There is also a 24-hour fitness center, though one guest noted it "could be a bit bigger to be able to comfortably have multiple people in there." For business needs, a 24-hour business center is available. The front desk operates 24/7, and staff responsiveness and professionalism have been noted in both positive and negative contexts. While one guest praised the "kind and professional" night shift front desk staff, another implied that even great service couldn't compensate for the hotel's poor condition. The hotel offers free high-speed Wi-Fi throughout the property. Laundry facilities (self-serve) and dry cleaning/laundry services are also provided. A 24/7 market is available for snacks and beverages. The hotel is a smoke-free property. As a Marriott property, it also participates in the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program. Guests can contact the hotel directly at (860) 439-0151 or +1 860-439-0151 for inquiries.
The features of the suites at SpringHill Suites Mystic Waterford are designed to provide more space and convenience than a standard hotel room. All 80 suites are advertised as being 25% larger than comparably priced hotel rooms, offering separate areas for working, unwinding, and sleeping. Each suite typically includes a pull-out sofa bed, a pantry area with a microwave, mini-refrigerator, sink, and coffee service. Rooms are equipped with flat-screen TVs and iPod docks. Flexible workspaces with large desks and ergonomic chairs, along with two phone lines with data port and voicemail, cater to business travelers. Beds feature crisp linens and thicker mattresses. Bathrooms come with shower/tub combinations and hair dryers. Hypo-allergenic bedding and blackout drapes/curtains are additional features aimed at guest comfort. Connecting/adjoining rooms and free cribs/infant beds are available, making it suitable for families. Accessibility features are available, including wheelchair-accessible gym and parking, grab bars in showers, and visual alarms in hallways. The hotel's strategic location near I-95 offers easy access to major attractions such as Mystic Aquarium, Mystic Seaport Museum, Olde Mistick Village, the USS Nautilus Museum, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, Connecticut College, and both Foxwoods Resort Casino and Mohegan Sun Casino. The hotel is also adjacent to the New London Mall Shopping Center, providing convenient access to shopping and dining options.
For promotional information, SpringHill Suites Mystic Waterford leverages its Marriott brand affiliation, emphasizing its all-suite concept and "refreshingly unexpected stay with little extras." Key promotional highlights include the complimentary hot breakfast, free Wi-Fi, and the indoor pool. Its family-friendly nature, with spacious suites and amenities like sofa beds and cribs, is also a significant selling point. The hotel's prime location in "Mystic Country," offering easy access to casinos, museums, and other regional attractions, is consistently featured in its marketing. The hotel also promotes its 24/7 market and fitness center. Guests are encouraged to book directly through Marriott's channels for loyalty program benefits. However, the promotional efforts are significantly counterbalanced by the numerous highly critical guest reviews. Phrases like "extremely disappointing," "terrible state of the hotel," "beyond repair," and advice to "avoid this place entirely" directly contradict the hotel's intended image. Warnings about "bedbugs" and the unhygienic conditions of the pool are particularly damaging. While the hotel attempts to promote a comfortable and convenient stay, the consistent negative feedback regarding cleanliness, odors, and maintenance issues is a prominent "promotional" aspect that potential guests will encounter when researching this property for their "Hotels Near Of Me" search. Therefore, while standard hotel marketing exists, a critical review of recent guest experiences is essential for a realistic understanding of what to expect.

Mar 10, 2025 · Crystal GonzalezThe front desk was friendly, the lobby was welcoming and somewhat clean but could use some updates. The gym could be a bit bigger to be able to comfortably have multiple people in there. The rooms were decent and had the amenities needed for a short stay.
May 02, 2025 · Jacob FaigelThe property needs some updating but the amenities are fine. The daily breakfast is very good. Nice, helpful and friendly staff. Good location with easy access to the interstate, nearby restaurants and a small shopping center with a decent size grocery store. Convenient to the US Coast Guard Academy.
Apr 09, 2025 · AntonioThis should not be a Marriott. It was filthy. The ceiling in my room was cracked. Windows dirty. The drawer under the tv wouldn’t stay closed. Elevator in disrepair. Bad customer service. It scarred me for life. Okay, I’m exaggerating, but it was a terrible experience. I was only there for one night, any longer I would have left.
Apr 12, 2025 · ToniI stayed at this location for a brief amount of time and for the time being, I was taken care about Mr. Brannon throughout my morning. He made everything quick and easy also provided everything I would need for my essential stay. Also wish him Happy Birthday!
