We’ve been staying in the hotel for the past 8 years. And it’s to sad that every six months we come back , we can see it getting worse and worse, no maintenance and giving some time to give good image to the rooms. This time we came in may first to may five. And we can see that the hotel looks really old, and the Coming in into the rooms feels really dirty. The carpet it’s shows a lot of dirty spots, the shower has no paint , there’s water dripping the hall time. The shower curtain was broken. The towels are very thin and we even got the towels wit brown spots. The bed looked inside the shits old. We are thinking on trying other options in the same location. Hoping and suggesting to have it remodeled, or at least to give more self care and maintenance to all the rooms and areas. The people it’s fine. But they can work in having better in image and selling what we are paying for. We don’t agree on what we are paying, for the bad and low quality that the hotel has. Hope you can work and give the time to take care of the hotel.

Homewood Suites by Hilton Philadelphia-City Avenue Introduce

For those seeking "Hotels Near Of Me" with an emphasis on extended stays in Philadelphia, the Homewood Suites by Hilton Philadelphia-City Avenue offers an all-suite accommodation experience. Located at 4200 City Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19131, USA, this hotel is designed to provide guests with the comforts and conveniences of home, whether for a few nights or several months. The hotel can be reached directly at (215) 966-3000 or via mobile at +1 215-966-3000.

As an extended stay hotel under the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform category, Homewood Suites by Hilton Philadelphia-City Avenue aims to cater to guests who require more than just a typical overnight stay. This means providing services and amenities that support a longer duration, such as in-suite kitchens, complimentary breakfast, and other features that promote a sense of home.

Environment and Location:

Homewood Suites by Hilton Philadelphia-City Avenue is situated on City Avenue, a prominent area that offers a balance of suburban tranquility and urban accessibility. Its location is considered convenient for both business and leisure travelers, being minutes away from major Philadelphia attractions like the Philadelphia Zoo, the Museum of Art, and the historic downtown area. It also provides easy access to 30th Street Amtrak Station and the Philadelphia International Airport, making it a strategic choice for travelers. The surrounding area offers a variety of restaurants and shops, ensuring that guests have options for dining and necessities within a short distance. This proximity to local amenities and transportation hubs enhances the hotel's appeal for those looking for a practical and well-connected base in Philadelphia.

The hotel, built in 2004 and last renovated in 2022, is part of a vibrant cityscape. Guests have noted the hotel's design which blends into its surroundings, and some rooms offer views of the Philadelphia skyline. While the location on City Avenue is generally well-regarded for its convenience, it's important for potential guests to consider the context of an urban environment. While the overall external environment is typically described as being within a suburban business center, the experiences within the hotel itself, as detailed in customer reviews, shed light on the need for ongoing maintenance within the property to fully leverage its prime location.

Services and Amenities:

Homewood Suites by Hilton Philadelphia-City Avenue provides a range of services tailored for extended stays. A key feature is the complimentary daily on-the-go breakfast, offering guests a convenient start to their day without additional cost. Furthermore, a complimentary evening social with a light meal and beverages is offered Monday through Thursday, fostering a sense of community among guests and providing a valuable perk, particularly for those staying for longer periods. The hotel also offers a free grocery shopping service, allowing guests to stock their in-suite kitchens with ease. Laundry facilities are available on-site, a critical amenity for extended stays. The front desk operates 24 hours a day, ensuring support is always available. The hotel also features a snack bar/deli and an ATM/banking service on-site for immediate needs.

In terms of recreational and business amenities, the hotel boasts an indoor pool, providing a space for relaxation and exercise. There is also a 24-hour fitness center, although customer feedback indicates that this facility can be "way too small to be shared by two hotels" and that equipment, such as treadmills, may sometimes be broken. A business center and meeting rooms are available for guests requiring workspace or event facilities. Complimentary wired and wireless internet access is provided in all rooms and public spaces. Pet-friendly policies are in place, although charges may apply. Safety features include fire extinguishers and smoke detectors on-site. The staff, particularly the front desk women, have been highlighted in reviews for their friendly and helpful demeanor, which is a positive aspect of the service experience.

Features and Unique Qualities:

The core feature of Homewood Suites is its all-suite concept, designed for the extended stay traveler. Each of the 122 accommodations is individually furnished and includes a separate sitting area and a fully equipped kitchen with a refrigerator, stovetop, microwave, dishwasher, and cookware/dishes/utensils. This full kitchen setup allows guests to prepare their own meals, offering significant cost savings and a more home-like experience compared to traditional hotels. Rooms also come with DVD players, safes, premium cable television, and coffee/tea makers. While these features are intended to provide comfort, recent customer reviews indicate significant concerns regarding the upkeep and cleanliness of the rooms. Guests have reported "really old" appearances, "dirty spots" on carpets, "no paint" in the shower, constant "water dripping," broken shower curtains, and "very thin" towels with "brown spots." Bed sheets have also been described as looking "old" inside. These recurring comments suggest a need for more diligent maintenance and possibly a remodel to align the actual guest experience with the expected quality of a Hilton-branded extended stay property. The issue of cleanliness, particularly regarding stains and worn elements, is a consistent point of dissatisfaction.

Furthermore, while the hotel provides amenities like a fitness room and pool, guests have faced issues such as a broken treadmill and a closed pool, impacting the availability and quality of these features. The breakfast, while complimentary, has been noted for insufficient supplies of items like "bowels, cups or utensils." These details from customer experiences highlight a disparity between the intended features and their consistent delivery.

Promotional Information and Value Proposition:

The promotional message for Homewood Suites by Hilton Philadelphia-City Avenue emphasizes its promise of "all the comforts of home" and being an "ideal home away from home." This is primarily driven by its all-suite design with full kitchens, complimentary breakfast, and evening socials, which are significant value propositions for extended stays. The location on City Avenue, with its proximity to attractions and transportation, is also a key selling point, promoting convenience for both business and leisure. For guests traveling with pets, the pet-friendly policy adds to its appeal.

However, recent customer feedback suggests that the hotel may not always be delivering on its implied value proposition, particularly in terms of cleanliness and maintenance. While the concept of an extended stay with home-like amenities is attractive, guests who pay for their stay express a strong sentiment of not agreeing "on what we are paying, for the bad and low quality that the hotel has." This directly impacts the perceived value for money. For potential guests searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" and considering this Homewood Suites, it is crucial to balance the advertised benefits with the consistent feedback regarding the condition of the facilities. The hotel's long-standing presence (8 years for one repeat guest) indicates a history of service, but the recent decline noted by long-term patrons suggests that improvements in property maintenance and overall image are essential to fully deliver on its brand promise and retain customer loyalty in a competitive market.

Front desk women was great. The room wasn’t very clean. The sheets had a stain. The room was a good size. The fitness room was way too small to be shared by two hotels!! The treadmill was broken. At breakfast there were not enough bowels, cups or utensils. Pool was closed. I would not recommend this hotel.

Very disappointing breakfast. Breakfast opens at 6:30. I arrived at 7:30. Most stuff was not ready. No items such as nuts, brown sugar or raisins were ready nee the oatmeal, tacos were not out although some of the extras were, no cut up fresh fruit was in the bowl. This was very disappointing. I had a plane to catch so couldn't linger. On the day before I arrived on the late side of the breakfast hours and there was practically nothing left then either. Not up to Hilton standards for sure.

I stayed at Homewood Suites on City Avenue from April 4–6. The bed was clean and comfortable, which I appreciated. However, the room wasn’t properly cleaned when we arrived—there were dirty towels on the floor and trash still in the bin. I called the front desk, and while they did send housekeeping to pick it up, no other apology or remedy was offered. The room was also extremely hot, and the thermostat was broken. I had to remove the cover and adjust it manually to get the AC working. Breakfast was frustrating—there were no plates or forks available, so I had to eat with my hands. I also bought a frozen meal from the lobby, not realizing the freezer was broken. The meal had leaked and I had to ask for a refund. On the last day, the front desk refused to hold our luggage because they couldn’t find baggage tags.

We rented a King Studio Suite in early May 2025, room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was excellent. But the staff is great and I want to single out Kayla, probably oneof the finest desk staff I have ever met. Very knowledgeable, very attentive and most importantly, very helpful.
