I stayed at Hotel Contessa as a solo traveler and was really looking forward to a relaxing stay on the Riverwalk. The location is excellent and the lobby area is beautiful, but several issues took away from the overall experience. The noise from the bar and lobby carried into my room at night, which made it difficult to get a good night’s rest. My room also wasn’t as clean as I expected — I found hair in the shower and on the bathroom floor, and there was trash behind the sofa. It felt like the cleaning was rushed or incomplete. When I went up to the rooftop pool, there were no clean towels available, which was disappointing. The elevators were also very slow, especially during busy times, which made getting around a bit of a hassle. While the staff were friendly and the location is hard to beat, the attention to detail just wasn’t there. For the price, I expected a more polished experience.

Jun 17, 2025 · Kristen DGreat location! A very nice lobby/restaurant area that exits right to the river. Unfortunately, and maybe it was a fluke, but our room was in less than tip-top shape. There was hair in the shower area. There was a used nail grooming kit someone left behind right on the floor by the bed. The Keureg has been well-loved and my coffee came out with all the past flavors (although that's more the machine's downside). Normally wouldn't nit-pick but at these rates, I suppose you really are just paying for the location. Hopefully this was a simple oversight. Overall not bad!
Jun 10, 2025 · Daniel RayWhile I had a pleasant stay, there were several issues that made my experience less enjoyable. First, I stayed for four days and never received assistance with basic tasks like emptying the trash, providing new towels, or restocking toiletries. I understand that staff may be busy, but this is a standard courtesy for guests staying more than two nights. The hotel itself appears to be quite old, and many aspects are in disrepair. However, the rooms were spacious, and the location on the river walk was fantastic. Despite these drawbacks, I had a positive overall experience. I was able to get a great deal on my stay through a travel site, which was the main reason for my choice. However, be aware that they will add a list of fees to your receipt at the end of your stay. When I inquired about these charges, they claimed they were simply for “staying” at the hotel.
May 19, 2025 · Mia BizziI can’t speak highly enough about my week stay. Rooms were clean, staff were very accommodating food was spectacular. They don’t all give me cards but shout out to Fast Eddie getting us a taxi because our guy failed to show. The waiters were great ate breakfast 4 days in a row. Francisco was great but they all were. Location good. See you again.
May 20, 2025 · Cindy JohnsonI have to say this hotel was amazing. After staying here, every other hotel room will seem lacking. I saw the pictures before I booked but wasn’t convinced it would be as nice as it was. You basically get a small one bedroom apartment. A living room and separate bedroom with a door. This is a perfect set up for couples who are on different sleeping schedules or need to work while the other is sleeping. Each room has a TV in it that you can stream your own content to which was fantastic. Décor was so cool and modern but had a warm cozy feel. Being right on the Riverwalk was also amazing and very convenient. There is a restaurant, lobby, and second floor patio you can hang out at and watch the riverboats go by. The only thing that needs some attention is the bathroom. Perfectly fine but if you are going to bill yourself as a luxury property, then everything needs to be up to par. The curtain rod was loose and sagging a bit, the sink drain plug was cracked, and the toilet had steak marks from what I assume is iron in the water. Small things but they should addressed. All in all an amazing place to stay. I can’t imagine staying anywhere especially in San Antoino after having stayed here.
