Hello, fellow Washingtonians! Our city is always buzzing with new and innovative concepts, and when it comes to hospitality, Hotel Hive truly stands out. It’s not your average sprawling luxury hotel; instead, it embraces a "micro-hotel" concept, offering cleverly designed, compact spaces that are big on style, comfort, and smart amenities. For locals, this means a fantastic option for visiting friends and family, or even for a chic and convenient "staycation" when you want to explore a different part of the city without the commute home.
Hotel Hive has quickly garnered a reputation for its "spotless and thoughtfully designed" rooms, its "incredibly friendly and welcoming" staff, and its vibrant atmosphere. As one delighted guest put it, "it was perfection." From the moment you arrive, the focus is on a seamless and enjoyable experience. Whether it's the efficient check-in, the comfortable beds, or the fantastic rooftop bar with its amazing pizza and views, Hotel Hive consistently "more than expected." Let's dive deeper into what makes this Foggy Bottom gem a top recommendation for anyone looking for a "cool, clean, and friendly place to stay" in D.C.

This innovative hotel concept redefines urban accommodation by focusing on maximizing efficiency and style within smaller, thoughtfully designed spaces, typically ranging from 125 to 250 square feet. Despite their compact size, the rooms, or "hives," are celebrated for being "spotless," "comfortable," and equipped with everything a modern traveler needs, including smart TVs, premium bedding, and private bathrooms.

Hotel Hive isn't just about efficient rooms; it's also a hub of activity and social engagement. It boasts an on-site &pizza restaurant, a lively ground-floor bar (Hive Bar), and a popular rooftop bar (Hive Rooftop) that offers stunning city views, including glimpses of the Lincoln Memorial. Jun 05, 2025 · Luis CanelaI just stayed here and let me tell you it was perfection. The parking garage was extremely close. Upon check in I was upgraded to a King room. The room had plenty of space for my husband and I. Everything was very clean. There were multiple safety features in place including having to fob your card to use the elevator and also having to fob your card on the stairs. We went to the rooftop bar and ordered the pizza. The view was nice and the pizza was fantastic. The beds were very comfortable and you didn't hear any noise from other rooms. All in all everything was more than expected and we'd definitely stay there again.
May 29, 2025 · Talisha HollowayHotel Hive far exceeded our expectations. The website says that the rooms are small and that this is a "micro" hotel but we found the room to be perfectly spacious and comfortable. Same goes with the warning that the lower-priced rooms were a little noisy because they are under the bar. We slept great and didn't feel the room was any noisier than any other city hotel. The staff was A++ friendly and helpful, particularly Max at the front desk - and we love, love, love their pet policy, which is to be truly accommodating and welcoming to our dogs. Most "pet friendly" hotels charge you $50-75/night extra and don't REALLY want your dogs there but at Hotel Hive dogs stay free and are genuinely welcomed like any other guest. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The shower was strong and hot and all bathroom products are high quality. The hotel even smelled great when you came in the door. The location can't be beat, particularly at that price point, and the parking garage was easy to use. And if you're staying Sunday night, you can find parking directly in front of the hotel on the street for free as long as you're leaving early. Dollar for dollar, this property is the best value in the United States. I suppose that if you're accustomed to only staying at huge tower hotels at the Marriott level or higher, that Hotel Hive might seem small/different, but we were surprised at how luxurious our stay was compared to the descriptions on the website. On our next trip to Washington, we wouldn't even shop around. We'd just book here again without question - and we are not travellers who are typically loyal to hotels.
Mar 25, 2025 · Mike AirhartI've stayed here twice and both times were great! The beds are comfortable, the rooms are clean, and the staff are very friendly and attentive. The pizza and drinks are good. Overall, this is a great conveniently located place to stay at in DC that's affordable. The rooms are indeed small and there's a potential for noise, but it's nothing a white noise machine can't fix!
Mar 08, 2025 · Mel Z.We absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Hive! The room was smaller than a regular hotel (just as advertised) but was so cute and still the perfect size for two people even for a five night stay. The hotel itself is clean and in a great location for walking to all of the DC attractions. The area surrounding the hotel (including the parking deck) seemed very safe, even late in the evenings. We had a “buzz” room and still felt that our room was very quiet, especially to be in a city. The front desk staff were always extremely friendly and happy to help. We were overcharged by the parking deck one night and the staff kindly fixed it immediately. We would definitely recommend Hotel Hive to anyone looking for a place to stay in DC!
