Pros & Cons Pros: incredible location. Less than a minute walk from some of the coolest shops and restaurants in Chinatown. It's safe, the staff are helpful, it's next to a great park, and you get the usual amenities like a safe, fridge, coffee, hair dryer, as well as a cool balcony. Cons: the walls were paper thin. We could hear our neighbor's conversations and they were unfortunately partying all night so there was no relief from the sound. If you are a light sleeper I would look elsewhere, I am a heavy sleeper and I was still kept awake. The sink could provide hot water but not the shower/bath. Room was a little dated but had been renovated with cute touches.

Would really recommend this hotel for a stay in NYC. Nestled in Chinatown and walking distance to the subway and Brooklyn bridge. You can easily see all the main attractions from this base. Bed was very comfy and the room was clean. Staff were nice, free coffee each morning and they held our bags for us on the last day. Good value for money.

If you’re looking for a more budget option and want to switch it up from a midtown stay, this is the place. Located in Chinatown, this hotel is pretty tucked away and walking distance (around 7-9 minutes) to Canal Station depending on the entrance you need. The staff were very friendly and quick to address any concerns or requests. When we checked into our room, the thermostat was set very high and the room was way too warm. Once we brought it up, they helped us out ASAP. Do keep in mind that staff are not there 24/7. It’s an older hotel and not the most glamorous which doesn’t bother me personally. I just want a comfortable, clean place to sleep and take a shower and Hotel Mulberry does just that. As with NYC hotels, it was pretty small but it was enough for me and my partner especially since we were out most of the time. Our bed was comfortable. A couple of scuffs along the walls and door in our room I can only imagine are from age and previous occupants. Our room and bathroom were otherwise clean and housekeeping did a great job in cleaning and tidying up. If you love Chinese cuisine, this is also the place for you. No need for continental breakfast with the options around me. Same goes for shopping. SoHo and Nolita are a 10-15 minute walk away too. I would stay here again (especially if I got another great deal) and would recommend this to friends who are looking for a more affordable option.

My stay at Hotel Mulberry was a disappointment. The lack of temperature control in the room made it nearly unbearable. Despite setting the thermostat to 62°F, the room climbed to an oppressive 85°F. With no other options, I had to open the windows to let in the freezing 35°F air from outside—a desperate measure that only made the situation slightly more tolerable. Adding to the frustration, the front desk was closed at night, leaving no staff available to address the issue. The bed itself was comfortable, but it hardly mattered when the heat made it impossible to sleep. I ended up stripping the bed of all the top linens and still sweating through the night. While the Chinatown location offers convenient access to good food, the area doesn’t lend itself to a relaxing stay. For the $300 per night II paid, I expected far better than this sauna-like experience. Until the hotel fixes its temperature control system—or allows guests full control over the thermostat—I cannot recommend it and will not be returning.

Stayed for one night at this hotel while visiting the city. Front desk staff were very kind and informative. Although the room was on the smaller side it was very clean and comfortable and very reasonably priced for the city. Would stay here again!
