*Copying my review from Hotels.com* We enjoyed our 5 night stay at The James. Its in a very convenient area to both South Manhattan and the tourist areas on the north end. The staff were friendly and helpful whenever we interacted with them. The rooms were clean and the bed was very comfortable. The daily happy hour is a nice touch and we enjoyed it. The negatives would be that the carpet in our room, and I'm assuming the others, is in desperate need of replacement. I think if they replaced it with tile it would make the room feel more modern and clean. We had a minor incidence with house keeping - they accidentally threw out a souvenir bag with a t-shirt inside. However the front desk was apologetic when we brought it to their attention. Overall this was a fine stay in Manhattan, but I think for the price there are improvements they could make.

Dec 02, 2024 · Angela CoccaWe spent thanksgiving week at this hotel. Although the rooms are just enough for 2 people and 3 suitcases all the rest was awesome. The staff first of all was always super welcome and nice, from the doorman to the receptionist and the cleaners. Rooms were cleaned everyday and although refills were not made automatically, once we told them everything was refilled right away. The only disappointment was the bathroom sink that wasn’t draining, but we also forgot to mention it the reception abut should have worked in the first place without us having to ask, so this explains my 4 instead of 5 stars. They offered us an umbrella when it was raining and a nice gift on thanksgiving day. We paid exactly how much was stated on booking, not extra charge or hidden costs as I had read on other reviews. Furthermore, coffee, tea and water were always available. The location is beyond great! I strongly recommend this place! Loved it.
Dec 31, 2024 · Serena Di CeciliaAs a corporate event planner, I rarely come across a property that gets it "right." This property nailed the experience. From check-in to the amazingly designed and appointed rooms and the incredibly high level of service among ALL of the staff, the experience already has me trying to figure out how to return. Special thanks to the events team (Francesca, Emma, and John) and everyone who took such great care of us during this event. You were stellar and deserve some praise. We WILL be back!
Mar 01, 2025 · Phoenix NormandWe had a very pleasant stay here for 5 nights. The hotel is old, but you can see the old time’s charm and quality on it. Our room was tiny. But very comfortable. You could see surfaces are scratched or upholstery a bit worn-out. But still higher quality than the newly built hotels around the city. The hotel had several programs, live music, complimentary happy hours, etc. would definitely stay here again.
Dec 29, 2024 · Parihan RashidiThe management was lovely, the jazz in the lobby to listen was such an added delight! An added treat was Apple tree poets, the gentlemen last night was friendly, so nice, and very poetic! He described us poetically beautiful. Don’t miss this warm lovely hotel on your next trip to manhattan.
