The hotel is beautiful and well-located, but the experience was mixed. While some staff members were wonderful, others were quite dismissive. There's no air conditioning, and they don't provide fans, which was disappointing given the price of $400 per night for a newer hotel. My room was 78 degrees and i was told to open my window. On a positive note, they do offer coffee in the rooms, which is a nice touch.
Looking for a beautifully designed and well-located hotel in the NoMad area of New York City? Hotel AKA NoMad, situated at 131 Madison Ave, is part of the 'Hotels Near Of Me' category and offers a visually appealing stay. However, recent guest reviews present a mixed picture of the overall experience, which local users should consider.
One guest found the hotel beautiful and well-located but experienced inconsistencies with the staff, noting that while some members were wonderful, others were dismissive. A significant concern was the apparent lack of air conditioning, with no fans provided, which was disappointing given the $400 per night price point. This guest reported their room reaching 78 degrees and being advised to open a window for cooling. On a positive note, they did appreciate the provision of in-room coffee.
In contrast, another guest truly loved everything about the hotel, describing the design and amenities as beautiful and thoughtful, with everything they needed readily available. They felt it to be a luxurious hotel where no detail was overlooked. This guest also praised the excellent location, which made navigating the city easy, and found the AKA team to be kind and courteous, making their stay a true pleasure.
The reviews suggest that Hotel AKA NoMad offers a visually stunning environment with a prime location that facilitates exploration of the city. Amenities are generally well-regarded, with thoughtful touches contributing to a sense of luxury for some guests. However, the lack of air conditioning reported by one guest is a significant factor to consider, especially during warmer months. Additionally, the inconsistency in staff experiences could impact the overall quality of a stay.

Jan 26, 2025 · Paige HubbardGreat location. Rooms are nice size and well appointed. Two issues - the door closes at 11.00pm and if you don't have your key or you are late night check in, it can take some time to ring someone to come get you. In some rooms the bathroom sinks are extremely tiny with no place to put your toiletries and splashing the water all over. Sinks could be/should be definitely larger.
Nov 09, 2024 · Hemanshu ParwaniThe room was a decent size & clean. Hallways a bit noisy with doors slamming thruout the night. Overall, okay stay. Location was close to hospital which was what I needed. Expected more professional staff presentation upon arrival and departure.
Feb 26, 2025 · Audrienne CorbettOur stay was mostly fantastic, with a few standout positives that made it memorable. First, the rooms were spacious, especially by New York standards—a pleasant surprise. The decor was beautiful, with thoughtful details that added warmth and style to the space. Additionally, the staff (aside from one incident) were incredibly attentive and helpful, making us feel welcomed and well-cared for. Unfortunately, our experience was marred by one disappointing interaction. The bellhop who helped us with our luggage was extremely insistent that we use a taxi he had arranged without us requesting it. My wife and I left at different times, and we both felt pressured for choosing alternative transportation. When my wife declined his cab suggestion, he rushed her bags out without offering further help, even dropping her backpack, which contained her computer. Overall, the hotel provided a mostly excellent experience with beautiful rooms, helpful staff, and a high standard of service—though this one interaction left a regrettable mark on an otherwise great stay.
