Very nice small hotel in New York. The location is very central in Manhattan, with a subway station just around the corner. There is a small bistro and a very nice bar. The staff at reception are not quite as friendly as you would expect from such a hotel. There are very few elevators, so you sometimes have to wait. The rooms are fantastic for New York. It is also very clean and the room service is very good. Status members can enjoy breakfast in the bistro. Unfortunately, the offer is very limited, so you often have little choice.

Great location - half an hour’s walk to pretty much everywhere! Very close to Empire State Building and subway. Rooms are very small, but to be expected in the city. Rooms are comfortable and shower is good, just nowhere to put anything! Staff are a bit grumpy!

My wife and I recently had the pleasure of staying at the HGU Hotel during our visit to New York City. We were initially placed in Room 407, which, while charming and well-appointed, unfortunately had an unexpected challenge. The room was adjacent to the elevator, and the noise from its operation was rather loud, accompanied by a consistent whirring sound that persisted throughout the night. As you might imagine, this made it difficult for my wife to get a restful night's sleep, which is always a priority when we're traveling. Understanding that these things can happen, we requested a change of rooms and were kindly accommodated with Room 707. We were grateful for the quick response from your team; however, we encountered a different issue in this new room. The air conditioner was leaking water onto the carpet, and it appeared that this wasn’t a new problem. The carpet, which seemed to have been placed as a temporary solution, was covering up what looked like waterlogged wood beneath. The presence of the leak created a damp, musty smell that was far from the standard of comfort and cleanliness that we have come to expect from an establishment of HGU Hotel's caliber. As a guest, I understand that unforeseen issues can arise, and I want to emphasize that my intention in reaching out was not to complain. I tried to resolve this by writing the manager and received no reply. This can be removed once I hear back from management about our awful stay.

We stayed at this boutique hotel for four nights. Since we’re from Amsterdam, our debit cards with global coverage weren’t fully set up for the Amsterdam payment system yet. This was a bit of a hassle for us because we couldn’t pay the deposit for our stay (even though our room was already paid for through Booking.com). Fortunately, the manager took care of everything, even though their payment terminal didn’t recognize our Dutch cards. It was handled very professionally, and the location—right next to a subway station—is super convenient. You’re really close to everything! Just one stop away is Grand Central, and if you’re looking for a quick bite, Los Tacos No. 1 around the corner is definitely a must-try, whether you grab it to go or eat standing inside the restaurant.

I was a bit worried when I saw the reviews at first, but honestly had a great stay. The staff is great, they are very helpful and they smile and make you feel welcomed. The room we had was not noisy and very clean. We are traveling with a 7months old baby and everything was smooth. So thank you!
