Le Méridien New York, Fifth Avenue

My family travelled to NYC over St Patrick’s Day weekend to celebrate a birthday, and chose to stay at this Marriott property. The hotel was nice; the rooms were clean and modern. The bed was comfortable and soft. What set this stay apart was the absolutely attentive and wonderful staff. The team here is definitely top notch. I would recommend a stay here to anyone who is looking for a great NYC experience, but just outside the craziness of Time Square.

I recently spent one night at the hotel and found it to be a mixed experience. Here’s my take: Room: I was given a very small room that was functional but had a couple of significant drawbacks. The air conditioning unit was extremely loud—so much so that it disrupted my sleep. If I turned it off, the room became uncomfortably cold, forcing me to sleep with a beanie to stay warm. I can imagine that in the summer the noise might be less of an issue, but in the winter this setup is far from ideal. Had I planned to stay longer, I definitely would have requested a different room. Check-In and Staff: Check-in was quick and hassle-free, and the staff were friendly and accommodating, which helped set a positive tone despite the room challenges. Restaurant/Breakfast: The on-site restaurant that serves breakfast was decent—not outstanding, but satisfactory for a quick meal. I probably wouldn’t return just for the restaurant unless circumstances warranted it. Overall: While the hotel has its merits in terms of efficient service and a friendly team, the room’s size and the problematic air conditioning make it a less-than-ideal choice for a comfortable winter stay. It might work better in warmer months, but for now, I’d only consider it under special circumstances. Would I go again? Only if I had no other options or if the room issues were resolved.

My new favorite spot in New York. I'm a flight attendant so I have a lot of hotel experience. When I arrived a front desk guy ran to the door to open it for me and he was super friendly and welcoming. I ordered late night food and the girl at the desk called me and offered to bring it to my room. She was so nice and happy! And the Italian guy in charge of room service really cares about his job. The bed is comfortable. The staff is happy. I don't have a single complaint :)

This was a surpisingly delightful experience. First, it was a great rate. For NYC, the room was larger than average. Everything was clean and stocked. The doorman was friendly. The front desk was helpful. The restaurant was fine with good service. Same with the bar. All in all, zero complaints and great, friendly staff. You can definitely tell that whoever manages this hotel spent a lot of time picking and training the staff. Excellent.

Nice hotel conveniently located in midtown. The rooms are what you would expect in NYC and quite small. The superior double room does not have a door to the bathroom which was very inconvenient for us due to we were there with our adult children making privacy challenging, so be aware of that. We had a service need due to the shower door leaking and they quickly fixed it. They were also quick to respond with other services such as request for extra towels. The customer service was excellent, we were especially pleased with Mr. Oswald, concierge, who made excellent recommendations and greeted us professionally and enthusiastically each time. It was our daughters’ first visit to NYC and they were so excited and he really made it a point to show interest in their experience and welcome us all. Because of his wonderful customer service, our family really had a magical New York trip! We will definitely choose this hotel next time!
