Millennium Inn Introduce

For individuals seeking extended stay solutions in New London, Connecticut, the Millennium Inn, situated at 14 Colman St, New London, CT 06320, USA, positions itself as a remarkably affordable option within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category. Unlike conventional hotels that primarily offer daily rates, the Millennium Inn explicitly caters to guests looking for "weekly and monthly" accommodations. This makes it a potential choice for those on a tight budget, relocating, or working in the area for an extended period.

Environment and Location

The Millennium Inn is located on Colman Street in New London, a relatively busy thoroughfare. Colman Street is a commercial corridor that provides access to various local businesses, fast-food restaurants, and retail outlets. Its proximity to major roads likely offers convenient access for car travel.

New London is a port city with a rich maritime history and various attractions, including the historic downtown, Ocean Beach Park, and institutions like the United States Coast Guard Academy and Connecticut College. However, the immediate environment around the Millennium Inn on Colman Street might be characterized more by commercial and automotive activity rather than scenic or pedestrian-friendly charm, which is typical for budget hotels located on main roads. While the exact distance to tourist attractions isn't specified in the provided information, its location on a main street suggests accessibility by car to many of New London's points of interest. It's important to note that the provided reviews do not offer much detail about the immediate surroundings beyond implying a practical, rather than picturesque, location.

Services and Features

Based on the limited information and direct guest feedback, the Millennium Inn offers a very basic set of services and features, primarily focused on providing affordable shelter for extended periods.

  • Accommodation Type: The hotel's primary feature is its focus on "weekly and monthly" rates, indicating that it functions more as an extended-stay motel or an apartment-style hotel for long-term residents rather than a typical short-term overnight stay. This suggests that rooms might be equipped to support longer stays, though specific amenities are not detailed.
  • Affordability: A key characteristic emphasized by a reviewer is its affordability, being described as "most affordable" and "cheap." This indicates its positioning as a low-cost lodging option.
  • Basic Cleanliness: One positive note from a reviewer is that the place is "clean and basic for your buck." This suggests that despite its low cost, efforts are made to maintain a fundamental level of cleanliness. However, this is directly contradicted by a very serious negative review regarding bed bugs, which severely impacts the perception of cleanliness and habitability.
  • Minimal Amenities: The term "unpretentious" implies that guests should not expect luxury or a wide range of amenities. The adverse review explicitly states a lack of common hotel room amenities such as "No fridge, No room phone, No microwave, No coffee maker and No room safe." This suggests that rooms are very sparsely equipped. The non-functioning TV mentioned in a review further reinforces the idea of limited and potentially unreliable in-room features.
  • Focus on Long-Term Occupancy: The business model appears to be centered on securing longer-term tenants, which differs significantly from the daily turnover of standard hotels. This might mean less emphasis on traditional front desk services, concierge assistance, or daily housekeeping, as residents are expected to manage their own living space for the most part.
Promotional Information

Given its apparent business model, promotional information for Millennium Inn would likely be less about seasonal discounts or luxury packages and more about its competitive weekly and monthly rates. Its primary "promotional" aspect is its cost-effectiveness as a temporary or long-term housing solution in New London. Information would likely be disseminated through local channels appealing to individuals seeking budget-friendly extended stays, such as online listings that specifically filter for weekly or monthly rentals. However, due to the severe negative feedback, any promotional efforts would likely be overshadowed by reputational challenges.

Guest Feedback

The provided customer reviews offer a stark contrast, presenting a picture of a property with significant reliability issues despite its affordability:

  • Positive Aspect (Limited): One reviewer describes it as a "most affordable and unpretentious place" that offers "no daily rate, only weekly and monthly." They acknowledge it's "not luxury but clean and basic for your buck." This perspective highlights its value proposition for those needing a very cheap, extended stay.
  • Severe Negative Aspects: The second review details an extremely negative and costly experience related to bed bugs. The phrase "this place affected my life in a very bad way bed bugs oh my God I never knew what bed bugs were until I went to this place it destroyed my life I went back home and had to order everything new throw everything out" is a severe indictment. The estimated cost of "$3,500" due to property damage and replacement items, stemming from "just one night," is an alarming indicator of the potential consequences of staying here. The concern that the "bad boys theme dormant for a year so who's to say that he still doesn't have it" also highlights the long-term psychological and financial impact on the guest. This review also points out the absence of basic amenities like a fridge, room phone, microwave, coffee maker, and room safe, as well as a non-functioning TV and a pervasive "stale cigarettes" smell, despite the implicit promise of such features and a damage deposit policy. The lack of a privacy sign for the door and the inability to secure belongings due to no safe further contribute to a sense of discomfort and insecurity.

The severe bed bug infestation reported by a guest is a critical piece of information that significantly impacts the overall assessment of the Millennium Inn. Such an issue can lead to considerable financial loss, psychological distress, and health concerns for guests, overshadowing any perceived benefits of affordability.

In conclusion, while the Millennium Inn in New London, CT, presents itself as an extremely budget-friendly option for those requiring "weekly and monthly" accommodations, potentially fulfilling a need for very low-cost, extended stays, prospective guests must exercise extreme caution. The severe negative review detailing a bed bug infestation and lack of promised basic amenities raises serious concerns about the living conditions and overall quality of the property. For anyone searching "Hotels Near Of Me" with affordability as a primary concern, it is imperative to weigh the low cost against the substantial risks and discomfort highlighted by past guest experiences.
