For Maryland locals, particularly those in the College Park area and surrounding communities, the Red Carpet Inn in College Park, MD, can serve as a functional option for very specific, budget-driven needs, despite some of the widely reported challenges in customer reviews. It's not a destination for a luxurious getaway, but its value proposition lies in its basic utility and location for particular local scenarios.
One key suitability for locals revolves around extreme budget constraints. If a local resident faces an unexpected, short-term situation requiring temporary lodging and cost is the absolute top priority, this motel offers an exceedingly low-cost alternative to other hotels in the area. For instance, in an emergency home repair situation, or if a local needs a bare-bones place to sleep for a night or two before moving to a more stable arrangement, the Red Carpet Inn provides a roof over one's head at a minimal expense. The inclusion of free continental breakfast and free Wi-Fi further reduces out-of-pocket costs, which is highly valuable when money is tight.
Another scenario where locals might consider this motel is for guests visiting them from out of town who are also on a very tight budget. Rather than having guests sleep on a couch or in limited space, the Red Carpet Inn could serve as an inexpensive, private alternative nearby. The free parking is a definite advantage for any guests arriving by car, mitigating an often-overlooked cost in the DMV area.
Its location directly on Baltimore Avenue also makes it highly accessible for locals who need to be near the University of Maryland for quick, short-duration visits, or for those who commute to nearby institutions like NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. For individuals who primarily need a place to sleep after late-night events or early-morning commitments in College Park and are not concerned with hotel amenities beyond the absolute basics, the motel’s accessibility to main roads is a functional benefit.
While the existing customer reviews highlight significant concerns regarding cleanliness, staff demeanor, and safety, acknowledging these points is crucial for any local considering a stay. It underscores that while the price point is attractive, guests should temper their expectations regarding comfort, service quality, and overall experience. For locals who are fully aware of these potential drawbacks and whose primary driver is minimizing expenditure for a very short, functional stay, the Red Carpet Inn College Park can be a last-resort or highly specific budget choice. It's a pragmatic solution for individuals for whom cost outweighs nearly all other considerations in a temporary lodging need.

Mar 21, 2025 · SHEEBA KHANTerrible Experience – Hostile Staff and Awful Room Conditions I had one of the worst hotel experiences at Red Carpet Inn College. From the moment I walked in, I was met with a rude and hostile receptionist who seemed annoyed by every question I had. Simple inquiries like asking about check-in or local amenities were met with eye-rolls and impatient responses. It was clear he didn’t care at all about providing decent customer service. As for the room, it was just as bad. The condition was terrible – there were stains on the carpet, the bathroom was dirty, and there was a musty smell that wouldn’t go away. I felt uncomfortable staying there, and nothing felt clean or properly maintained. To top it all off, the noise levels made it impossible to sleep well. If you’re considering staying here, I’d strongly suggest looking elsewhere. This place has some of the worst customer service and room conditions I’ve ever experienced.
Oct 26, 2024 · Mario JaramilloAVOID AT ALL COSTS! In all my years of traveling, I have never experienced such hostility from hotel/motel staff; much less from the OWNER. I don't know how this place is still operating with the way the owner treats his guests. I was yelled at over the phone over asking for confirmation that my room was booked... Thankfully it allowed me to dodge the bullet of staying there. It prompted me to read the other reviews which were shocking, but not surprising giving my limited interaction with the owner. I made a reservation through the following day through a third party website. As I was trying to save the confirmation details, they disappeared, and it appears they were never sent to my email. I tried calling the motel so I could ask them to resend it, the man I spoke with said he saw the reservation come through, but was unable to send me a confirmation email since I booked 3rd party. I called the third party website, they said they have no record of that reservation in the system (weird...) and they told me to give them a call back and they SHOULD be able to send me the confirmation details... When I called back the front desk and tried to explain what just happened, he got very argumentative and audibly frustrated that I reached out again politely asking for something as simple as a confirmation email. He yelled at me saying he's already told me several times that there was no way for him to email me anything. I tried to see if we could come up with another solution, but he seemed unable to and told me to just come in the following day where he would have a room for me. I will not stay anywhere without the confirmation details on hand as to avoid being potentially scammed. He couldn't even give me so much as a confirmation number or confirm the total price over the phone. I asked if there was anyone else I could speak to, and he let me know he was the owner. He insisted that he didn't want to argue with me, yet he continued to raise his voice and it we couldn't come to a solution. I understand this is a cheap motel, I wasn't expecting a fantastic experience. But I did nothing to deserve being yelled at.

Apr 28, 2025 · Kenneth Doo (KENN-DOO)Indians for some reason can't or don't want to grasp the whole hospitality thing which comes with being a hotel. Rude, no eye contact and no feeling of welcomeness to the place. I just witnessed a man with his dog who was attempting to cut through the parking lot so he could have a shortcut to his building the manager runs out to tell him it's private property but the guy was already walking back to the street because he realized he couldn't cut through. Ridiculous. Why come to this country in our community make money off of Americans and all yall do is be rude and its not the normal rude more than its a angry type of rude. Please do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere! Rooms dirty seemed like the floor was slippery from moist film and the rooms/hotel reek of curry. Cheap towels, cheap everything! TV kept shutting off but I got my money back! Sell the hotel to ppl who understand the American way of hospitality. Oh yeah, they're not trying to sell the place because they also live there as well. Stay Away!!!!
