Our stay at The Riggs was phenomenal. I believe the hotel is an older older property, but is impeccably maintained and you would never be able to tell its age when walking through it. The rooms are very well decorated and comfortable. Every member of the staff I spoke with was accommodating and friendly. We ate breakfast at the hotel restaurant every day and it was delicious, we never had a bad meal and the service was fantastic. The location is excellent, directly across from the national Portrait gallery and the Capital One Arena is about 2 blocks away. There are several nice restaurants across the street and within a 5 - 10 minute walk and it is about a 10 minute walk to the national mall and the museums. The only issue we had was that we booked directly through the hotel using a black Friday deal. When we checked out they didn't credit us for the deal and we had to call back twice to get the proper refund calculated. I think they still miscalculated by about $100. Even with that mistake the stay was nice enough that it wouldn't feel right deducting a star from the review. We had a great stay in DC and the Riggs made our stay even better.

Riggs Washington DC is a luxury hotel that has quickly established itself as a premier destination in the nation's capital. Located in the historic Penn Quarter neighborhood, the hotel occupies the meticulously restored building of the former Riggs National Bank, often dubbed the "Bank of Presidents" due to its storied past serving 23 former U.S. presidents, including Abraham Lincoln. The ambiance is one of sophisticated comfort, where guests feel both indulged and at ease. Customer reviews consistently highlight the hotel's "impeccably maintained" condition, making it impossible to "tell its age when walking through it." The rooms are described as "very well decorated and comfortable," ensuring a peaceful night's sleep even in a busy urban setting, thanks to "soundproof rooms."

Jun 01, 2025 · Receipt StoreOutstanding service from the front desk staff at this hotel. They were flawlessly helpful in answering my questions over the phone and in person, communicated clearly, and went the extra mile for even small requests (ex: I asked for a bandage, and the front desk person gave me several kinds to make sure I got what I needed). The high standard of service was noticeable and refreshing. Despite facing the street and being in the heart of a busy area, the room was quiet and we couldn't hear street noise through the windows. It was impressive. The room was nicely appointed and the bed comfortable, making for a peaceful night's sleep.
May 12, 2025 · Christine GodinezThis is a long over due review. I stayed here with my 9 year old son and elderly mother back in October. This hotel was superb. Charlotte, at the front desk, was lovely. She and my mom bonded over their Irish roots. She kindly sent a beautiful fruit basket up to us, acknowledging “Irish Hospitality”. The doormen were wonderful as well. Everyone watched out for my mom, who is unsteady at times and needs a walker for support. The restaurant was divine! The breakfast was one of the best I have ever had. Honestly, I will never stay anywhere other than the Riggs when in DC. The interior is stunning and the location ideal. Thank you so very much for accommodating us…this place is a gem!
May 18, 2025 · Donna BelliveauStayed for one night and really enjoyed it. The place is beautifully designed, everything was super clean and organized. Check-in and check-out were smooth, no issues at all. The location is also great—close to everything. The only thing I’d mention is the sound insulation—could hear hallway doors opening pretty clearly, so that’s something to keep in mind. But overall, a very pleasant stay, no complaints!
May 13, 2025 · Lada MikhailovskaiaMight be the best hotel experience I’ve ever had. Very white glove. Everything was done perfectly. They greeted us and somehow knew our names, gave us champagne when we arrived and took our bags to the room where there was more sparkling wine waiting. The staff recognized us each day and helped us with everything we needed. Highly recommend.
