We stayed here earlier this week. Place is cute, but management is useless. Went to check into our 2nd floor unit. Get the entry passcodes to get inside...only to find the place trashed from previous guests. We call the customer service number only to be told they switched units on us because the ac was not working. If we were to change units, we were not told & we were not given access to a different unit for entry. If we were not to enter our intended unit, then why would Roami give us access to it? The remedy was painful. Sleep in the basement apartment until the next day when we can get a cleaner over to clean up. We give directions for the cleaner since we had partially checked in. For example, leave cardboard box on counter with our belongings. They threw it away!!! It had wedding memento's from our sons wedding!!! We put our stuff in the fridge drawer and said to not touch it....they went threw it all & discarded what they wanted. The Kleenex box on the counter had some sort of tissue flower arrangement in the tissues. When I picked up the container it was wet underneath with a brown water stain & long black hairs. Maybe spend less time playing with decorations & more time cleaning? It's too bad...units are cute, but management is degrading the unit values completely. I will never use Roami again...ever.
Hey there, fellow Louisianans! If you’re looking for a different kind of stay in New Orleans—one that offers the comforts of home combined with an incredible location—then let’s talk about Roami at The Esplanade. This isn't your traditional hotel; instead, it provides apartment-style accommodations, which can be a fantastic option for families, groups, or anyone seeking a more independent travel experience in our beloved Crescent City. As locals, we appreciate flexibility and a good deal, and Roami aims to deliver a unique blend of both. In this article, we’ll dive into what makes Roami at The Esplanade stand out, from its advantageous location to its in-unit amenities, helping you decide if it’s the perfect base for your next New Orleans getaway.
New Orleans is a city meant for exploration, and having a comfortable and convenient home base can truly enhance your experience. Roami at The Esplanade offers spacious units, often with multiple bedrooms and bathrooms, along with the convenience of a full kitchen. This setup can be ideal for extended stays or for those who prefer to have the option of preparing some of their own meals. We’ll provide a factual overview, drawing from publicly available information and guest insights, to give you a clear picture of what to expect from this unique accommodation choice.
Roami at The Esplanade is strategically located at 427 Esplanade Ave, New Orleans, LA 70116, USA. This address places it in an exceptionally desirable area of New Orleans, right on Esplanade Avenue, which is a picturesque street bordering the historic French Quarter. This location offers the best of both worlds: you’re literally steps away from the iconic French Quarter while also being immediately adjacent to the vibrant Faubourg Marigny neighborhood, particularly known for its lively music scene on Frenchmen Street.
The accessibility from this location is a major selling point. Guests are just a short five-minute walk to Frenchmen Street, which is a mecca for live jazz, blues, and funk music, offering a more authentic and local music experience compared to the more commercialized Bourbon Street. The proximity to the Mississippi River also means easy access to riverfront activities and scenic strolls.
For those looking to explore the most famous landmarks, Jackson Square and the French Market are conveniently close and easily walkable. The New Orleans Jazz Museum is also directly across the street. This means you can immerse yourself in the city’s rich cultural heritage, savor Creole and Cajun cuisine, and dive into the nightlife without needing extensive transportation.
Public transportation is also highly accessible. The French Market Streetcar Stop is just a 2-minute walk away, and the Ursulines Ave Stop is a 5-minute walk. These streetcar lines provide convenient and charming ways to reach other parts of the city, including the Central Business District, the Garden District, and other points of interest, allowing you to explore New Orleans in a truly walkable fashion.
While the location is fantastic for exploring on foot, it's worth noting that like many popular urban areas, Esplanade Avenue can have a visible presence of homeless individuals. While guests generally report no issues, it's something to be aware of, as you would be in any major city. For those seeking a highly walkable experience right at the nexus of New Orleans culture and entertainment, this location is hard to beat.

For us Louisianans, Roami at The Esplanade offers a compelling and often preferred alternative to traditional hotels, especially when considering its unique benefits for local travel. The most significant draw is its outstanding location. Being on Esplanade Avenue, right between the iconic French Quarter and the vibrant Frenchmen Street, means you're ideally situated to experience the best of New Orleans. Whether you're heading to a show on Frenchmen, exploring the historic sites of the French Quarter, or simply soaking in the ambiance, you can do it all with incredible ease, often on foot. This eliminates the hassle of parking or constant reliance on rideshares, allowing you to truly immerse yourself in the city's pulse.
The apartment-style accommodations are a major plus for locals. Many of us appreciate having extra space, separate bedrooms, and especially a fully equipped kitchen and an in-unit washer/dryer. This setup is perfect for weekend getaways with friends, family vacations, or even longer "staycations" where you might prefer to prepare some meals, pack lighter, and have the comfort of a home-like environment. The ability to cook your own breakfast or simply store local delicacies in your own fridge adds a level of convenience and cost-effectiveness that traditional hotel rooms often lack.
While the remote customer service model and occasional operational hiccups (as noted in some reviews) mean it requires a slightly different approach than a full-service hotel, the core value proposition remains strong for those who prioritize location, space, and independence. The "cute" and well-appointed units provide a comfortable and private retreat after a day of exploring. For Louisianans who are seasoned travelers or simply prefer a self-sufficient experience while enjoying the unparalleled energy of New Orleans, Roami at The Esplanade offers a practical, spacious, and superbly located option for your next visit to the Crescent City.

Nov 20, 2024 · Polly HouckOur 3rd time staying with Sonder in Nola.Location is near Frenchman Street so hard to beat. Two bedrooms with 1 in a loft,2 bathrooms also so very convenient. It does come with a couple negatives...outside on Esplanade there are many homeless near where you stay,we didn't have problems but just be aware. Our dryer only blew cold air so wasn't functional and we needed to turn off the breaker to the dishwasher as it beeped every minute.Sonder doesn't have staff on location so you need to adjust as you can.We were on the ground floor so with the aforementioned homeless around you never feel totally comfortable. I think this may be our last Sonder in Nola as the price becomes comparable to hotels if your amenities do not work properly. If you need space and think you possibly will use the kitchen this may be for you but we find we don't cook while in Nola and broken appliances made us feel we'd rather stay in a hotel with security and onsite maintenance support.
Mar 17, 2024 · T WilsThis was such a great location. It was right next to Frenchman Street, which is a much calmer vibe than Bourbon. It was right next to a trolly station, so we could get rides anywhere we wanted to go. A block or so from the French Market area. It is a lot of locals rather than tourists. I was a little afraid because the windows and everything face towards a music club, but the sound proofing was great. You could barely make out the bass, and only of you were concentrating on it. Throw on some nighttime music or white noise, and you could hear a thing. We did some cooking in the apartment, and they had dishwasher pods and everything you needed to cook and clean up. We didn't find any over mitts or anything, which was a small drawback (but we may have just missed them). My one complaint would be that the water pressure wasn't great in the showers,so you'll want to know that heading in. Other than that, it was amazing. Thank you foe a home away from home for me, my husband, and our teenage son.
Jan 01, 2024 · Racheal FoltzLocation is FANTASTIC! Right across from the French Market trolley station, 1 block from the market & Frenchman street is right next to it. Frenchman street has tons of bars with loud music but we didn’t hear it from inside the apartment. There were a few minor issues but not a big deal & I'm sure they’ll be taken care of (light bulb out in microwave, floors hadn’t been cleaned in a bit). Really great space & we would absolutely stay here again!
Jul 14, 2023 · Jody PetersonNot a great experience! The A/C unit made a broken record like noise every 30mins. We contacted Sonder and the guy simply moved the faulty part from one a/c to another. We ended up not using the A/C at all. It wasn’t clearly mentioned that room service was at an additional cost. We stayed for a total of 5 days and room cleaning was an additional $72. There wasn’t even a complimentary towel change. They say thats for keeping their costs down, but the rates weren’t that low compared to other hotels. Keep all these overhead costs while booking with Sonder. The digital room locking mechanism was very glitchy. Needed to be touched 10times to work. Last but not the least, the entry is from a Parking lot which looked kind of shady. There were homeless people in the parking lot where the entry is from. Our first and last time booking with Sonder :)
