This setting offers "stunning picturesque views" and a tranquil "hidden paradise" for guests. Maryville is known for its blend of small-town charm and proximity to major attractions, providing a peaceful retreat that is still conveniently located. The environment emphasizes privacy and natural beauty, with thoughtfully designed landscaping that contributes to a serene atmosphere.

The location is ideal for exploring the best of East Tennessee. It's just a short drive to the iconic Great Smoky Mountains National Park, offering endless opportunities for hiking, scenic drives, and wildlife viewing. For outdoor enthusiasts, the renowned "Tail of the Dragon" (US 129) and the scenic Cherohala Parkway are within a short drive, making it a perfect base for motorcyclists and scenic drivers. Knoxville, a larger city with additional cultural and culinary offerings, is also nearby. Services and Amenities:

The Smith Family B&Bs are designed to provide a comprehensive and comfortable self-catering experience, "leaving no stone unturned" in terms of amenities. While specific amenities vary slightly between their unique units (such as the converted rail car and airplane hangar), common high-end offerings include:

  • Fully Equipped Modern Kitchens: Each unit features a "wonderful modern kitchen," often outfitted with high-end appliances (like Smeg appliances in the train car), butcher block counters, and all necessary cookware, dishes, and utensils. This allows guests to prepare gourmet meals at their leisure.
  • Luxurious Living Spaces: Comfortable living rooms are provided, often with smart TVs for streaming (Netflix, Amazon), and cozy seating. The decor is described as "tastefully done," blending historic character with "plush contemporary elements."
  • Comfortable Sleeping Quarters: Beds are emphasized for their comfort, such as the "tall king-sized bed" or "queen-sized bed with luxurious bedding" in the train car. Some units also offer pull-out sofa beds for additional guests. The rooms are designed to be "silent," ensuring a restful night's sleep.
  • Modern Bathrooms: Guests can expect clean and modern bathrooms, often featuring unique touches like a claw foot tub, and providing excellent water pressure despite the age of the original structures.
  • Connectivity: Fast and free Wi-Fi is consistently available, ensuring guests can stay connected.
  • Outdoor Living: Each unit typically boasts private outdoor spaces, such as decks or patios with comfortable seating. The train car, for instance, has two private decks that offer views of the Smoky Mountains and adjacent flower fields and even a private airstrip. Guests also have access to shared outdoor amenities on the larger property, including a fire pit.
  • Unique Touches: The "surprise bed" feature, which often refers to clever space utilization or unique sleeping arrangements within the renovated spaces, adds to the charm. A "coffee station right outside our door" is also noted as a "great touch."

The attention to detail and inclusion of modern conveniences within historical structures is a key aspect of their service. The property emphasizes "impeccable Southern hospitality," aiming to ensure guests have the best stay possible.

Features:

The defining feature of Smith Family B&Bs is their innovative approach to lodging, transforming unconventional structures into luxurious and memorable accommodations. The core offerings include:

  • The Converted WWII Train Car (Platform 1346): This 1943 troop train kitchen car has been meticulously renovated into a 520-square-foot "Tiny Home." It retains its original character while featuring a full kitchen, living room, modern bathroom (with a claw foot tub), and a queen-sized bed, plus a pull-out sofa. Its history of serving "untold thousands on their way to war" adds a profound and touching layer to the stay.
  • The Converted Aircraft Hangar Apartment (Terminal 1344): Another unique offering, this two-bedroom apartment within a subdivided aircraft hangar, continues the "planes, trains, and automobiles" theme of the B&Bs.
  • Thoughtful Design: The owners, Adrienne and her daughter Tayler, are praised for their interior design, which blends the historical essence of the structures with plush contemporary elements. Every space is consciously planned for maximum utilization.
  • Privacy and Seclusion: Despite being part of a family-run business, the properties are designed with guest privacy in mind, featuring separate entrances and private outdoor areas.
  • Family-Run Hospitality: Dean Smith, Adrienne's husband, often serves as the "Vice President of Guest Experiences," being the first friendly face guests see upon arrival. The family's Goldendoodles also contribute to the welcoming atmosphere.
  • Historical Significance: The profound history of the train car, in particular, offers a unique educational and emotional element to the stay, making it more than just a place to sleep.

Promotional Information and Guest Experiences:

The Smith Family B&Bs promote themselves as "An Inviting Escape" with "unique properties" that allow guests to "wake up to stunning picturesque views and enjoy a piece of our hidden paradise." The "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles" theme is a key promotional aspect, inviting travelers to experience something truly different.

Guest reviews strongly validate these promotional claims. First we have to thank the Smiths for the wonderful anniversary gift. Now if you're into history this is where you will want to spend a night or 6, the history of this converted rail car is amazing especially when you think about the Americans who were served by the cooks and others who fed untold thousands on their way to war and how many didn't get to come back home. The Smiths have had to of spent a small fortune in the buying, moving, set up and remodeling of their beautiful rail car of a home. You will find all the latest modern conveniences you will need, wonderful modern kitchen, living room, bathroom and the surprise bed . Wonderful thought out landscaping with your privacy in mind. Be sure to visit the fish pond and say hi to all of the Smiths fur babies. This is just a short drive to the Smokies, Pigeon Forge Gatlinburg areas as well as the dragons tail, cherhola parkway and Knoxville. Again we want to thank the Smith family for sharing their little slice of heaven on earth with us for a couple of days. Hope to visit again soon!!!

So relaxing and beautiful. Dean our host and his doggies were so welcoming. We were provided with WiFi, Netflix, Hulu, Disney plus and more. The kitchen is loaded with all the utensils and cooking needs. Coffee, tea, and hot cocoa is provided. In the fridge was bottled water and a surprise bottle of some bubbly. I definitely want to come back for a longer stay because one night was just a tease.
