The carpets literally had crumbs of food from the previous person who stayed there and it kind of sucked because I really like Sonesta, but I got a whole king suite with that bat of an experience, I would say the air conditioning is great just to give him some pointers, but will not be staying there again.

Sonesta Hotel Baltimore Inner Harbor Introduce

For Marylanders, whether you're planning a special night out in the heart of Baltimore, attending a concert or sporting event, or perhaps need a convenient base for family visiting from out of state, choosing the right hotel can truly enhance the experience. While Baltimore offers a wide array of lodging options, the Sonesta Hotel Baltimore Inner Harbor aims to provide a comfortable and centrally located stay, perfect for immersing yourself in Charm City's vibrant atmosphere.

Sonesta Hotels are known for their unique properties and commitment to guest satisfaction. The Sonesta Hotel Baltimore Inner Harbor is no exception, boasting a location that places guests within easy reach of some of Baltimore's most iconic landmarks and entertainment venues. While the hotel is situated in an older building, offering a sense of history, it strives to combine this with modern comforts. Many guests highlight the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, which can make a significant difference in your stay. This article will delve into what the Sonesta Hotel Baltimore Inner Harbor offers, providing a factual overview of its location, services, features, and potential promotions, drawing from publicly available information and real guest insights, to help you decide if it's the right choice for your next Baltimore adventure.

Location and Accessibility

The Sonesta Hotel Baltimore Inner Harbor is centrally located at 1 E Redwood St, Baltimore, MD 21202, USA. This address places it directly in the downtown core, offering exceptional accessibility to many of Baltimore's major attractions and business hubs.

Its primary appeal lies in its proximity to key destinations. The hotel is just a quick, approximately 5-minute walk from the CFG Bank Arena (formerly Baltimore Arena), making it an ideal choice for concert-goers and event attendees. Similarly, the Baltimore Convention Center is also about a 5-6 minute walk away, providing unparalleled convenience for conference delegates. Furthermore, the iconic Baltimore Inner Harbor, with its array of attractions like the National Aquarium, Port Discovery Children's Museum, and various dining and shopping options, is easily accessible on foot, typically within a 10-15 minute stroll.

For those arriving by car, the hotel is well-connected to major roadways leading into downtown Baltimore. While the urban setting means no self-parking directly on-site, valet parking is available for a daily fee. This service, while an added cost, offers the convenience of in/out privileges and can simplify parking in a busy city environment. However, guests should be aware of the cost and consider nearby public parking garages as potential alternatives if self-parking is preferred.

Public transportation options are also within reach. The hotel is close to various bus stops and potentially within walking distance of Light Rail or Metro stations, offering connectivity to other parts of the city and beyond. Despite being in a bustling area, guest feedback often mentions that the hotel itself can be quiet, though hallway noise or elevator dings might be noticeable for light sleepers, suggesting that requesting a room away from the elevators could be beneficial.

Features / Highlights

The Sonesta Hotel Baltimore Inner Harbor offers several features and highlights designed to make your stay comfortable and convenient, particularly given its historic setting in downtown Baltimore:

  • Prime Downtown Location: The most significant highlight is undoubtedly its location, placing guests steps away from CFG Bank Arena, the Baltimore Convention Center, and the famed Inner Harbor. This makes it ideal for event attendees, business travelers, and tourists alike.
  • Historic Building with Updated Rooms: The hotel is housed in an older building, which gives it character. Guest reviews indicate that rooms have been "redone nicely," suggesting modern decor and comfortable furnishings. However, some common issues with older buildings, such as potential water damage on walls or the smell of smoke in hallways, have been mentioned, though not always deemed major or unsightly.
  • Comfortable and Spacious Rooms: While some guests have noted issues with amenities or bed length in specific room types, overall the rooms are described as spacious. They typically include amenities like a 50-inch Smart TV with premium channels (including Netflix), air conditioning and heating (with praise for effective AC), coffee/tea makers, irons/ironing boards, and complimentary toiletries.
  • 24-Hour Fitness Center: A well-equipped fitness center is available around the clock, allowing guests to maintain their exercise routines conveniently.
  • Pet-Friendly Policy: The hotel's "Pets Are Welcome At Sonesta" (PAWS) policy makes it a good option for travelers who wish to bring their furry companions, with specific fees and guidelines.
  • Lobby Bar/Restaurant: The hotel features a lobby bar and a restaurant, though guest reviews indicate that dining venues might have limited hours (e.g., closed on certain days). It's advisable to confirm operating hours if on-site dining is a priority.
  • Meeting and Event Space: With over 3,300 sq. ft. of event space across four meeting rooms, the hotel can accommodate business meetings, banquets, and even wedding services, with the largest room capable of seating up to 200 people.
  • Security Measures: Guests have noted that the building feels secure, contributing to peace of mind during their stay in a bustling urban environment.

While the hotel strives to provide a positive experience, guest reviews suggest that consistency in room amenities and cleanliness, particularly with carpets, might be areas to verify or mention at check-in if important to your stay. However, the excellent staff and prime location remain strong positives.

Booked here last minute for a concert. Location is amazing, and just a quick walk through a courtyard to get to the Arena. Front desk staff were super friendly and helpful, letting us check in early/check out late. The lobby is very nice. We were on floor 5 and a king room right off the elevator. The hallway did smell like smoke which did seep into the room a bit. I’m not sure if people are actually smoking in the hotel or if it’s just an old building that was improperly redone. We left our window open and put a towel along the bottom of the door which resolved most of the residual smell. The rooms have been redone nicely. There was some water damage on the walls, but nothing major or too unsightly…it’s an old building, so I’m not too surprised. The room felt clean except for maybe the rug, which could probably use a good shampoo. The hotel was quiet but you could hear everything in the hallway, and the elevator door ding every time someone used it. If you are a light sleeper, perhaps request a room far away from the elevator. All in all it was an okay stay for one night and I think the staff are excellent. I would probably only book again if there was a good deal however.

I stayed here for two nights and had a pretty bad experience. First, check-in took almost two hours even though we arrived on time. We were told the rooms weren’t clean yet, which didn’t make sense at check-in time. When we finally got the room, it smelled strongly like smoke, even though it was supposed to be a non-smoking room. We aired it out, but the smell stayed. There was a spider and a fly in the bathroom, and the room wasn’t cleaned the next day. When we asked, they said we had to request housekeeping, but no one told us that when we checked in. We asked for clean towels since the room wasn't cleaned, and they said they had no clean linens at all. One of our blankets even had blood on it, and they didn’t have another to replace it. One person in our group had to sleep with just a sheet. Staff wasn’t friendly or helpful. The room was small for two queen beds, the fridge was tiny, and there were no extra pillows or blankets in the closet. The only good thing I can say was that it was quiet at night. I wouldn’t stay here again.

Had a great stay, enjoyed the hotel. It was an easy walk to the inner harbor. The rooms were clean and had everything we needed. Breakfast was very good and the entire staff from the time we checked in throughout our stay were great and helpful. Will be back!

Nothing but amazing things to say about this hotel. Staff was extremely friendly and attentive, restaurant food was delicious, my husband and I had the crab cakes and cheeseburgers which we would highly recommend. In the restaurant we had the pleasure of having a conversation with the general manager Raymond, such a wonderful and friendly person. This hotel is absolutely beautiful, clean, smells amazing and overall just a wonderful place. In all of our future trips to Baltimore my family and I will absolutely be staying at the Inner Harbor. We were very impressed!
