Stayed here after surgery. This was the best place to stay after a surgery. Extremely clean, the bed was above average comfortable with many types of pillows (which were helpful if you can’t sleep normally, because of something like surgery), the whole area was really soundproof (I could barely hear a child/parent talking in the hallway once, and that’s it), the staff was quick with a wheelchair, the elevator was smooth (which was much appreciated when you’ve got new incisions that are healing and hurting). The decor was solid and quality. Just a 10/10.

The Inn At Longwood Medical Introduce

The Inn At Longwood Medical, situated at 342 Longwood Ave, Boston, MA 02115, USA, is a hotel frequently sought by those utilizing the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform, particularly due to its exceptional proximity to Boston's renowned Longwood Medical Area. This location makes it an undeniably convenient choice for individuals and families visiting medical facilities such as Boston Children's Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Brigham and Women's Hospital, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and Joslin Diabetes Center. For many, its primary appeal lies in this strategic placement, offering a short and manageable walk to critical appointments and patient support.

Environment and Location: A Medical Hub Advantage

The hotel's environment is intrinsically linked to its location. Being nestled within the Longwood Medical Area means guests are surrounded by a bustling campus of world-class hospitals and research institutions. This grants a unique advantage for those undergoing or supporting medical treatments, as it minimizes travel stress and allows for easy access to medical appointments. The hotel is also connected to the Longwood Galleria, which provides immediate access to a food court and various shops, offering convenient dining and retail options without having to venture far. While its primary strength is its medical accessibility, it's also worth noting that it's within walking distance to academic institutions like Harvard Medical School, Harvard School of Public Health, Simmons University, Emmanuel College, Wheelock, Wentworth, and Mass College of Pharmacy. For those looking beyond medical needs, Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox, is also within walking distance, typically a 15-minute stroll. Other cultural attractions like the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and the Museum of Fine Arts are also relatively close. Public transportation is readily accessible, with the Green Line of the MBTA nearby, connecting guests to other parts of Boston, including Fenway and downtown areas.

Services and Amenities: Catering to Comfort and Convenience

The Inn At Longwood Medical offers a range of services and amenities designed to enhance guest comfort, particularly for those with specific needs related to medical visits. The hotel has 155 well-appointed rooms, with options including Two Queen Rooms, King Kitchenette Suites, Premium King, and ADA accessible rooms, some featuring kitchenettes. In-room amenities typically include free Wi-Fi, coffee makers, refrigerators, and microwaves. The decor is often described as solid and quality.

A 24-hour front desk ensures assistance is always available. The hotel offers complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the property. For dining, the Longwood Grille & Bar is on-site, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and room service is available. A coffee shop/cafe is also present. Reviews suggest that the breakfast, while sometimes described as basic (muffin, coffee, fruit), is available. The hotel features a fitness center/gym for guests looking to maintain their routines. Other services include concierge services, luggage storage, and express check-in/check-out. The hotel is entirely non-smoking and offers allergy-free rooms. For families, children between the ages of 0 to 17 can stay free of charge, and cribs/infant beds are available, making it a family-friendly choice.

Features: Designed with the Guest in Mind

A notable feature, especially highlighted by guests recovering from surgery, is the hotel's focus on cleanliness and comfort. The rooms are described as extremely clean, and the beds are often found to be above average in comfort, with a variety of pillows available to cater to different sleeping needs. Soundproofing is also a significant feature, with guests noting minimal noise from hallways, contributing to a peaceful environment conducive to rest and recovery. The smooth operation of elevators is also appreciated by guests with new incisions.

The hotel provides a 24-hour business center and meeting/event spaces, including the Longwood Hall and Fenway Room, offering flexibility for various gatherings. These spaces come with complimentary Wi-Fi and AV compatibility. The property was last renovated in 2019, suggesting a commitment to maintaining modern standards.

Promotional Information and Guest Experience: A Mixed Perspective

While the hotel does not always explicitly promote specific deals publicly, it is known to offer certain packages and rates. For instance, there are "Medical Patient & Family Rate" options available, recognizing the specific needs of its primary clientele. Discounts like AAA, Group, Corporate, Government/Military, and AARP discounts may also be offered. Given its location, the hotel often has "Harvard Medical School Hotel Rates" and even "Fenway Getaway Packages" during baseball season, though some reviews suggest it's not the ideal choice solely for tourist attractions outside the medical area.

Guest experiences at The Inn At Longwood Medical, as gathered from reviews, present a mixed picture. The overwhelmingly positive aspect, consistently highlighted, is the location's unparalleled convenience for medical visits. Guests frequently praise the cleanliness of the rooms, the comfortable beds and pillows, and the effective soundproofing, which are all crucial for a restful stay, particularly after medical procedures. The efficiency of the staff, especially with services like providing wheelchairs, is also commended.

However, some critical feedback also emerges. A recurring concern is the perceived lack of accommodation from staff once they realize a guest is there for medical reasons, with instances of requests (like for a firm mattress) being met with laughter or questioning about the timing of simple requests (like a remote control). The complimentary breakfast is noted to be very basic, and issues with replacement coupons for it have been mentioned. The value for money is also a point of contention for some, who feel the prices are high if not specifically for medical proximity. For those visiting Boston for reasons other than medical appointments (e.g., Red Sox games or museums), many suggest staying in the Fenway or downtown areas instead, as the hotel's primary benefit is its medical convenience. Some local residents have expressed a preference for driving back home rather than paying for a stay if not strictly necessary for medical reasons, indicating the cost might be a significant factor for those without specialized needs.

In summary, The Inn At Longwood Medical positions itself as an ideal choice for anyone needing to be close to the medical institutions of Boston. Its environment is designed around accessibility to healthcare, offering practical services and comfortable features. While it excels in its niche for medical travelers, potential guests should temper expectations regarding broader tourist amenities and be aware of varied staff interactions as reported in some reviews.

Stayed here twice out of necessity due to hospital visits. Rooms are decent, and the location is great if you need to be near Longwood Medical, but that’s about it. Mattresses are unbearably soft (both times). Staff aren’t especially accommodating once they know you’re here for medical reasons. For instance, I called in advance about the mattress— after booking online- and I was laughed at for making a request to have a room with a firm mattress. We left the free breakfast coupons in our hospital room and we were not given replacement coupons. It wasn’t the end of the world because it is really literally a muffin and coffee and fruit, but it would’ve been nice to have had staff that were more understanding of difficult logistics. I couldn’t find the remote control in my room and was questioned why I was asking for a replacement at 9pm (because I was at Children’s hospital all day with my son, finally got back to my room and wanted to rest)… Only stay here if you have to be close to Children’s, beth Israel, or Brigham and women’s hospital (hence the 5 star, but not for the rest of Boston)—definitely not worth it for any other reason. Red Sox game, museum of fine arts—- absolutely not! Stay in the Fenway or downtown. I am local to Massachusetts and I have decided I don’t wanna deal with this hospital again and will just drive back instead of having the convenient walk. It’s not worth throwing $300 down the drain.

Perfect location for medical appointments - just a short walk to Brigham's. The room was fine and clean but no soundproofing. Very convenient to have a food court attached right to the hotel. There is a Keurig in the room and having a fridge as well was a plus. They provide coffee pods and powdered creamer so bring your own if you want something different. Plenty of outlets / charging ports for devices. Update - stayed a second time and it was perfectly quiet. Very happy with my choice!

We just did an 8 night stay here, and overall very much liked this hotel. The pros: excellent location for a stressful hospital (Brigham Cardiovascular Center) admission and visiting someone all day, good to come home to at night. Rooms met every need, particularly liked the chair and side table for tea at night, very nice. Room attendants all excellent, asking every morning how much I needed done. Cons: Had to cover the vents with 2 pillows, blew freezing air every night right at you. No bathroom off lobby, missed that alot after returning. Elevators, so very slow and need a sofa chair to wait, not every lobby had one. Its expensive, 9 night stay almost 3K. But I thank them for accommodating me for 3 extra nights, unexpectedly and stayed in same room, so very grateful for that! Would definitely stay again, eased the worry of visiting loved one easily and didn't have to drive into city each day.

The location is convenient and there are a few nice parks around the hotel itself. However, on numerous occasions, I found the staff to be borderline disinterested in assisting my party. I was surprised by the service (not in a good way) at the front desk and had trouble getting clear cut answers on a couple calls that I made to the hotel prior to my trip.
