The Shelburne Sonesta New York

I just wrapped up a trip to NYC with my two daughters and sister. It was my older daughter's 10th birthday and they spoiled her so well! We absolutely loved this hotel. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. Every one was so sweet to my daughters and seemed genuinely interested in hearing about their daily escapades! The daily snacks were a fun way for my girls to engage with the front desk staff. I just can't rave enough about how friendly everyone was, from the front desk staff, to the housekeeping staff, to the runners. The hotel was clean and offered the rare double queen room! The roof top bar / restaurant was gorgeous! We didn't eat there because my kids are too picky, but the views are amazing. We had a kitchenette room, and my only critique was there was no plates or silverware. Just glasses (and of course a micro & mini fridge, with an actual freezer to keep ice) Previti Pizza is a block away and had delicious slices and when your feet are sore, across the street and on the next block had a foot rub place that will rejuvenate you! I will recommend this hotel to anyone who is going to NYC. It is centrally located, easy 20 min walk to so many places and a quick walk to Grand Central station. We had the best trip and this hotel was part of that success!!

We stayed here for two nights while my mother was undergoing treatment at NYU. There was a snafu with our room and the receptionist at the front desk couldn’t have been more lovely (I wish I had gotten her name). We ended up getting upgraded to a lovely room that allowed me to work while she rested. It was such a nice relief during a stressful time and I would definitely stay here again and likely will when we are back. Great staff and service!

So this hotel is my new favorite place! My Husband, 2 small kids and I had to come to NYC (from Chicago) to go to a bunch of appointments to get our paperwork in order to move to Norway. We initially thought we’d just make the shortest trip possible, but then we thought it might be nice to make more of a mini vacation out of it and take the kids to some fun places. I can’t say enough about how awesome every single person in this hotel had been to me and my spazzy toddlers. Truly the best staff ever. From the hotel, to the restaurant downstairs (Take Care), to the bar and restaurant upstairs (Vintage Green), they were so kind and accommodating. For example, my husband and I took the kids up to Vintage green, and we LOVED their drinks and food but my son wanted the burger from the restaurant downstairs so they made it happen. Even after we said not to worry about it. Special shout out to Christina, the super kind hostess, Tim, the AWESOME manager who truly went above and beyond, and Daniela, our server. I’ve never left a hotel review in my life. But this experience warranted a great review.

While my whole stay was pleasant, I wanted to take a moment and really put the spotlight on Ed/Eddie + David (Bellhop + Doorman I believe). Both individuals were truly a joy to converse with and willing to help in any way they could. No hesitation from either of them and they always took the conversation a step further to make a personal connection. 100% would return simply because of my experience with these two individuals. The room itself was nice, I was able to check in multiple hours early with no charge which was a lovely surprise. All staff was pleasant but the two above went above and beyond!

I love where this place is located. I take the train into NY so the close proximity to the train station is perfect for me because I don’t like lugging bags very far. The rooms a clean and spacious and reasonably price if you go in the middle of winter 😉. The hotel restaurant food was surprisingly very good. The best I’ve had in manhattan, I have been traveling to the other borrows for food because while the food in the city is good is usually not served hot for some reason.
