We appreciated the convenient location and helpful front desk staff. Moving around the bed in a tight space when you stay as a couple is challenging. There is inadequate shelf space in the bathroom to place your toiletries. The single bathroom faucet handle prevents you from getting to hot water except when you fully blast the water pressure. The shower is nice and hot but so small it is very challenging not to splash water outside the shower stall. More instructions on where everything is would help on the back of the door. For example there's a magnetic sign to request cleaning help, but who knew that on the flip side of that sign is a sign for the cleaning staff to not disturb you. The clothes drawers are under the bed, but who knew? If you have packed food or buy take out and bring it in there is no refrigeration, so the best you can do is get an ice bucket which is of limited help in cooling food in catering containers. I would suggest management and customer service staff stay over in one of these rooms to get an idea of the actual logistical challenges. Great concept, and very clean rooms and hallways, but work is needed to make this hotel more functional for customers. Finally, the room charges vary per days of the month. This undercuts the idea of saving money by staying in a small space. Friday was $300 and Sunday was $180. the prices on the website should include all fees to make it more accurate. And the web-site should say that a $90 deposit is held beyond the room charges until 3 days after you leave.
Looking for a budget-conscious and well-located hotel in Midtown East? Pod 39, situated at 145 East 39th Street, is part of the 'Hotels Near Of Me' category and offers compact rooms with a focus on a central location. Local users considering this hotel should be aware of both its advantages and some potential logistical challenges highlighted in recent guest reviews.
Guests appreciate Pod 39's convenient location, making it easy to access nearby attractions. The front desk staff is also frequently mentioned as being helpful. The hotel is consistently praised for its excellent cleanliness, with daily cleaning ensuring the rooms are in great condition.
However, the compact nature of the rooms presents some challenges. Couples may find moving around the bed in the tight space difficult. The bathroom has inadequate shelf space for toiletries. The single bathroom faucet handle design makes it hard to get hot water without fully blasting the water pressure. The shower, while providing nice and hot water, is quite small, making it challenging to avoid splashing water outside the stall.
Some guests found the hotel could improve communication regarding the room's features. For example, a magnetic sign is used to request cleaning, but it also has a 'do not disturb' side that might not be immediately obvious. Similarly, clothes drawers are located under the bed, which might not be apparent to all guests without clear instructions. The lack of in-room refrigeration is another point to consider; while ice buckets are available, they offer limited cooling for food.
Guests have noted that the room charges vary significantly depending on the day of the month, which can undermine the expectation of saving money by staying in a smaller space. For instance, one guest reported a Friday night costing $300 compared to $180 on Sunday. There is a suggestion that the hotel's website should include all fees in the displayed prices for greater accuracy and transparency. Additionally, a $90 deposit is reportedly held beyond the room charges until three days after departure.
One guest traveling in winter observed that the window insulation was not ideal, allowing some cold air to seep through, and the heating needed constant adjustment to maintain a comfortable temperature.
Despite these points, some guests found the hotel to have everything necessary for a comfortable stay and considered their overall experience to be good. The concept of a budget-friendly hotel in a prime location with excellent cleanliness is appealing, but potential guests should be prepared for the small rooms and some design and logistical quirks. The provided reviews do not mention any specific promotional information.

Mar 17, 2025 · Michael Tritto Jr.The hotel is very well located, making it easy to access nearby attractions. The cleanliness is excellent, with daily cleaning that keeps the rooms in great condition. Although the rooms are not very spacious, they have everything necessary for a comfortable stay. The only observation I have is that, since I traveled in winter, I noticed that the window insulation is not ideal, allowing some cold air to seep through. Additionally, the heating needed to be constantly adjusted to maintain a comfortable temperature. Despite this, overall it was a good experience.
Mar 17, 2025 · Julian Rodriguez GarzonGreat hotel at great price! Very clean and modern. Excellent location near Grand Central but not too close to avoid the congestion there. Quieter street and rooms are super quiet. Great rooftop and restaurant and lounge on first floor. Free coffee and tea each morning and pass to nearby Blink fitness. Great stay and I would stay again!
Mar 24, 2025 · J SI completely understand protocol, but you also have to take context into account when evaluating your customer service. We book more than 20k worth of stays every year at this hotel, and they left an activist wait in the lobby hours after a very long flight, for a credit card authorization form for a card they have on file. They were also rude and inconsiderate about it when I called. I will be re -evaluating our business with them.
Mar 10, 2025 · Veronica BrownThis is a fantastic place to stay in New York if you are not spending too much time in your room as they are quite basic but they have everything you need. Beds are comfy and my stay was very quiet. I specifically asked for a quiet room and they delivered, they even had maintenance check my room before I arrived to ensure the heat was not loud. Customer service was fantastic. Would stay here again.
