We liked the room. It was bigger than we expected. We used the kitchen a lot. And the location is great. We stayed 8 days and no one came to clean once and we never received new towels during the whole stay. So beware of this. We had a little problem with some noise coming from a neighbor. This woke us up a couple days in the morning. The problem was an adjoining door that connected our room with another guestroom. The door is not insulated. We contacted Sonder to let them know about the noise and they were not friendly in their responses. We sometimes heard traffic noise, but it wasn't too bad. The price of the room was very high.
Looking for an extended stay apartment in Midtown East? Sonder at The Nash, located at 222 E 39th St, is part of the 'Hotels Near Of Me' category and offers fully furnished studios suitable for longer visits. Recent guest reviews provide a mixed perspective on the experience.
Many guests appreciate the location of Sonder at The Nash, describing it as great and convenient. Some reviewers found their rooms to be bigger than expected and made good use of the in-unit kitchens, which are a significant feature for extended stays.
However, it's important to note that some guests reported a lack of housekeeping services during their stay, with no room cleaning or fresh towels provided even over an eight-day period. This is a crucial factor for those expecting regular hotel-like services.
Noise from neighboring rooms was another issue raised, particularly due to adjoining doors between units that were not adequately insulated. This led to guests being woken up in the morning. Some reviewers also described the responses from Sonder staff regarding noise complaints as unfriendly.
While traffic noise was sometimes audible, it was generally not considered too disruptive. However, the price of the rooms was noted by at least one guest as being very high.
In contrast to some negative experiences, other guests reported a "wonderful stay." They found the studios to be fully furnished, renovated (with the exception of the bathroom, which was not a major concern), and equipped with all the necessary appliances. They also emphasized that the studios were spacious for New York City Midtown standards.
The building itself was described as very secure, with a concierge who was consistently friendly and professional. As Sonder operates within a building that also houses permanent residents, interactions with them were reported to be positive, with residents being friendly. Guests staying on the 5th floor mentioned that the only noise they heard was from the street outside and that it was not too bothersome. These guests also appreciated the quick assistance provided by Sonder staff when they had initial doubts or questions.

Jan 09, 2025 · Chris KnightSuch wonderful stay… I wasn’t expecting anything different because we’re talking about Sonder… read a lot of comments online and honestly I can’t agree with most of the bad reviews that I saw… the studio was fully furnished, renovated (except the bathroom, but no big deal), with all appliances needed, it was a big studio btw… we’re talking about NYC midtown, don’t expect to find anything bigger. The building was very secure, the concierge was always friendly and very professional. Because Sonder is at a building with residents, we cross with so many people that live in the building and we never had any problem…they were always friendly. We stayed at the 5th floor and the only noise that we heard was from the street outside and wasn’t so bad… we had some small doubts at the beginning, but Sonder staff helped us very quickly.
Sep 06, 2024 · Susanna DuarteI paid for a one bedroom superior room. What I received was basically a studio apartment with a sliding door to separate the bedroom from the living space. They put the bed in the large living room and put the couch in the smaller area. This was a problem since the “bedroom” was open to the kitchen, bathroom, and dining table making it noisy for those wanting to sleep in. The photos of the room I booked were different than what I received. Very misleading and false advertising. I called Sonder, spent over an hour on the phone and they refused to move us to another room. They stated that layouts on their website are not always guaranteed. After much back and forth, the agent hung up on me. The only reason I gave this two stars is the location, which is near Central Station.
Sep 07, 2024 · Nicole KI was really quite disappointed with this stay. The website shows light, modern rooms in pristine condition. In fact, our room was very dark and in poor condition. The floor was covered in huge scratches, there were scratches on one of the picture frames on the wall. The sofa felt tired and wasn’t very comfortable. The A/C was so incredible loud you could hardly have a conversation with it on. The bed didn’t work with the shape of the bedroom at all - it was really bizarre. The room just didn’t look at all like the photos online - I thought I was getting a recently renovated space with lots of light and I feel like I got the opposite. That said, the location is great and the staff were helpful.
May 31, 2024 · Kit SainsburyEverything about this apartment was perfect. Location was very central but extremely quiet (apart from a few beeps from motorists) and felt very safe. We had an amazing view of the Empire State Building from our room. Incredible views from the rooftop, we got up to watch the sunrise which felt so special. The apartment itself was incredibly spacious, a comfy bed and looked exactly like the photos. For our last night in NY we stayed in a 5 star hotel which cost far more than our stay in the Sonder, yet, the stay at the Sonder was far better. I would recommend this place to anyone.
