Please be aware of the cockroaches at this location. They make you sick, cause colitis and put you in the emergency room. They bite, and cause sores. The bugs here are EXTREMELY BAD. We stayed here from April 2 2024-November 1 2024. (Until we found our place.) We didn't know at first. But then they would crawl out of our Coffee maker. Also the internet was good the first month but then sucked. If you use the very few plugs in the room it would make the power trip. The faucet leaked the entire time, no one fixed it. The paint peeled from the ceiling after a shower. People scream argue and fight sometimes all night long. Children are left unsupervised in the parking lot so please be careful. And they banged my car with their bike, so We won't be back. To the lady with the brown hair that spoke to my child that way, I hope karma pays you a visit and I hope you meet yourself one day in someone else and grow from your experience. I'd like them to reimburse me the cost of the doctors for 3 people as well as the money we sepnt on bug killer, pesticides, bleach (the walls were disgusting with nasty), draino, and the countless hours we spent to unclogging the drains everyday!!, as well as laying awake listening to the toxic environment some people choose to live in not to mention my bunn coffee maker was over $100 I threw it out and our $50 keurig one too. Also if you call something a deposit shouldn't it be returned if everything was OK? It should say PET FEE. not pet DEPOSIT.

Winthrop, Maine, is a charming town situated approximately 10 miles west of Augusta, the state capital. It is known for its abundance of lakes, ponds, and streams, offering opportunities for boating, fishing, hiking, and wildlife observation. The town's population nearly doubles during the summer months due to seasonal residents and visitors enjoying Maine's natural beauty. Winthrop boasts a blend of classic New England and rural architectural styles, contributing to a warm and inviting atmosphere. While not a coastal town, it thrives along the shores of Maranacook Lake, providing a lakeside and woodland feel. Local amenities include a selection of restaurants and shops, and the town hosts several fairs, festivals, and community events throughout the year. Winthrop is accessible via Interstate 95, making it an easy drive from nearby cities.

The Winthrop Motel, as a 'Hotels Near Of Me' listing, aims to cater to individuals seeking convenient lodging in this regional setting. Based on customer feedback, the motel has undergone some changes, with a recent mention of new management and room renovations. These renovations are described as "real nice," suggesting an effort to improve the guest experience and modernize the facilities.

However, it is crucial for potential guests to be aware of significant concerns raised in customer reviews regarding various aspects of the Winthrop Motel. The environment, specifically, has been a point of contention. One detailed review reported severe issues with cockroaches, stating they caused illness, colitis, and bites, leading to emergency room visits. This guest claimed to have observed them crawling out of a coffee maker and described the bugs as "EXTREMELY BAD." The presence of such pests is a major concern for cleanliness and health, and it's something any prospective guest would need to consider carefully.

Beyond pest issues, other environmental factors and maintenance problems have been noted. A leaky faucet that was not repaired for an extended period, peeling paint from the ceiling after showers, and concerns about mold in various places were also highlighted. These issues suggest potential ongoing maintenance challenges within the property.

In terms of services and features, the internet connectivity has been inconsistent according to one long-term guest, who reported it was good for the first month but then became unreliable. Electrical issues were also mentioned, with the use of "very few plugs" leading to power trips, and a lack of proper grounding indicated by a surge protector.

The heating system was also described as problematic, offering only "90 degrees or 50 degrees" with no in-between, making temperature regulation difficult. Hot water availability also appears to be an issue, being plentiful only at early morning hours (2 a.m.) but not when guests return from work. Housekeeping services were minimal, consisting of towel changes and bed making only once a week for weekly rate guests.

Regarding the social environment and management, some reviews describe a "toxic environment." Specifically, reports of people screaming, arguing, and fighting, sometimes "all night long," point to potential noise disturbances and an uncomfortable atmosphere. The management itself has been described as screaming and hollering at each other loudly enough to be heard well away from the office, which could be off-putting for guests seeking a peaceful stay.

Another significant concern raised by a reviewer involves security and personal information. The practice of copying driver's licenses upon check-in and not returning them immediately, combined with the storage of this information in an unlocked binder in the office, raised strong identity theft prevention concerns. While there are cameras on the property, their functionality and effectiveness as a deterrent were questioned.

Promotional information, based on the provided reviews, would need to address these negative aspects directly. While some renovations are reported, the fundamental issues concerning pests, maintenance, inconsistent utilities, noise, and data security are critical. Any promotional efforts would need to focus on how these issues have been, or are being, resolved to reassure potential guests. For instance, if the new management is truly "cleaning up," as one review suggests, specific details about pest control measures, comprehensive maintenance plans, and improved guest information handling would be essential. Without concrete evidence of resolution for these substantial problems, potential guests might be wary, despite any stated improvements in room aesthetics.

The pricing, at a weekly rate of $250, was mentioned as being perceived as high given the described level of service and issues. Additionally, a discrepancy regarding a "pet deposit" versus a "pet fee" was noted, indicating a potential lack of clarity in their policies.

In conclusion, the Winthrop Motel, available within the "Hotels Near Of Me" search category, is a lodging option in Winthrop, Maine. While recent renovations are noted, extensive customer feedback highlights significant challenges related to pest infestations, maintenance deficiencies, unreliable utilities, noisy environment, and concerns about data security. Prospective guests should exercise caution and seek updated information directly from the motel regarding these critical issues before booking.

The new management seems to be cleaning up. The room renovations are real nice. Would recommend this for a stay. Well after staying there for 3 weeks I'd like to amend my review. No heat or maximum Heat no in between! 90 degrees or or 50 degrees! There appears to be mold in a lot of places. Hot water does not seem to be plentiful, it's fine if you take a shower at 2 a.m. in the morning but not when you get home from work. The management screams and hollers at each other so loud that you can hear it well away from the office. If this Behavior was done by a renter they would be thrown out! They have just replace all the windows in the front. They have not frame them in properly and the resulting in drafts all over the place. Housekeeping, or lack thereof consist of changing your towels one time a week, and making the bed one time a week. For the weekly rate of $250 you would expect a lot more. The manager talks about all the other renters two other renters. I am very concerned about my security when they take a copy of driver's licenses which contain all your information and do not return it to you upon check-in, identity theft prevention 101 says that you should guard all your information. They are not a major chain hotel with no safeguards to protect your information they are kept in a binder in the office which is left unlocked during the day. They have cameras which may or may not be working as a deterrent but that finder would be a bad guys jackpot if it ever got misplace. I would strongly advised against staying there at all costs. It is my opinion that if they were ever inspected they would probably find many problems. Do not plug your computer in unless you have a good surge protector. My surge protector indicated that there was no ground.

My family and I have been living here for a few weeks now and I would say it's pretty good. Once I saw the outside I though "oh man, this looks like a really crappy place.." as soon as I saw the rooms I was like "wow" so don't let the outside fool you. The people here are really great people and very friendly. Overall I would recommend this motel to anyone who would like a nice stay.

This place is a dump and over priced. The managers are sketchy and will.only except cash and use two receipt books. The rooms are rotten and moldy. Unfortunately I had to stay for over six month due to financial hardship. I've complained about mold issue and rotten wood and it took three months for them to come paint over issue. They enter your room when you aren't home and things end up missing. The husband screams constantly and the wife is a drunk. I have reported them to town code enforcement and also better business bureau...absolutely a horrible place to stay.
