Loved our room. Clean and large. Bed was super comfy. Close to all the action. Staff was great. Only downside is you can hear literally everything, so for a light sleeper like me was difficult. But kind of expected in an old building. Also only a handful of channels worked on the TV. Everything else was great. Would definitely stay here again if we could get the same room.

The Dauphine Orleans Hotel is exactly that kind of place. Nestled amidst the historic charm of the Quarter, this hotel offers a blend of classic elegance, modern amenities, and an unbeatable location, making it a beloved spot for locals looking for a memorable escape or a convenient base for exploring our vibrant city. Let's delve into what makes the Dauphine Orleans Hotel a fantastic choice for your next Crescent City adventure.

Introduction / Overview

The Dauphine Orleans Hotel is a truly unique property that masterfully blends historic charm with contemporary comforts, offering guests a distinctive New Orleans experience. Dating back to the early 19th century, the hotel is comprised of a collection of buildings, including Creole cottages, a former bordello, and slave quarters, all contributing to its authentic French Quarter character and storied past. This rich history is evident in its classic architecture, wrought-iron balconies, and tranquil courtyards.

With 111 guest rooms and suites, the Dauphine Orleans provides a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Guests frequently praise the hotel for its clean, large, and super comfy rooms, making for a restful stay. The staff are consistently highlighted as "great" and very helpful, contributing to a welcoming environment. While some guests acknowledge that, given the age of the building, noise from neighboring rooms can be heard, many find this adds to the historic charm rather than detracts from it. The beautiful saltwater pool offers a refreshing oasis, and the convenience of being close to "all the action" makes it a highly recommended spot for immersing oneself in the French Quarter. For those with a penchant for the paranormal, the hotel's history even lends itself to intriguing (though sometimes shy!) ghostly encounters, adding another layer to its unique appeal.

Location and Accessibility

The Dauphine Orleans Hotel boasts an exceptionally desirable address at 415 Dauphine St, New Orleans, LA 70112, USA. This places it directly in the heart of the historic French Quarter, providing guests with unparalleled access to the district's most iconic attractions. You are just steps away from world-famous Bourbon Street, allowing for easy access to its lively music venues, bars, and restaurants, yet positioned on a street that offers a slightly quieter ambiance for a peaceful retreat.

The hotel's location ensures that many of New Orleans' quintessential experiences are within comfortable walking distance. Iconic landmarks such as Jackson Square, St. Louis Cathedral, the historic French Market, and the vibrant music clubs of Frenchmen Street are all easily accessible on foot. Canal Street, a major thoroughfare with shopping and streetcar access to other parts of the city like the Garden District, is also just a short stroll away. For those arriving by car, the hotel offers on-site valet parking (for a fee), which is a significant convenience in the tightly packed French Quarter. This central and walkable location truly allows guests to immerse themselves in the unique culture and charm of the Crescent City.

We had 4 people total, stayed for 2 nights, and had a good over all experiences with the hotel and the rooms. My best friend and I tried to do a ghost investigation with cat balls and a spirit box, however the spirit box died on us. Any ghosts or spirits that were in our room are very shy, so if you come to try and do an investigation, just know that anything they may be shy.

We chose this hotel because it was close to bourbon St and the room had a balcony which was what we wanted. We paid extra for a balcony room and booked it way back in February. When we arrived, the room we were given was small, windowless, and the "balcony" doors were nailed shut and there was no balcony. The shutters were hanging off the doors and it the room was incredibly run down. When we inquired at the front desk, we were informed they had gotten rid of their balconies last month. We were never contacted and told this, nor were we given a discount. We decided to get a refund. Instead of refunding the full amount, we were told they were only going to give us $600 instead of $850. I do not recommend this place at all. It was not the front desk attendants fault and this review doesn't reflect her. But the photos online do not even look like the actual hotel. Beware of booking this place!

When we arrived, check in went seamlessly. That night in the room we found the TV had some issues with the cable and the bathtub. We contacted the front desk and moved rooms the next day, with a complimentary upgrade. We largely spoke with Micheal at the front desk, he was incredibly helpful and listened to our concerns. He was incredibly personable and kind, he represented the hotel and the spirit of New Orleans well ! My sister and I greatly enjoyed our stay because of him !

The location was excellent, located right in the French Quarter just one street over from Bourbon Street. While Bourbon Street is loud, our experience staying at the Dauphine was much quieter. We thought it was a great hotel for the money. It is an old hotel, and it certainly has some wear and tear. The carpet could stand to be replaced, for instance. However, the hotel still felt clean and safe and the staff was very friendly. A great bargain for the money. The valet parking was extremely convenient, and we were happy to have been spared the stress of finding our own parking, likely at a similar cost. Stay here for an awesome location at a reasonable price!
