Big disappointment with staying at this hotel. Upon checking the staff was rude and seemed to be in a hurry like they didn’t have time to answer questions. I asked about the pool hours (indoor pool) since it was one of the reasons I booked this hotel and was rudely told it was closed this weekend. When I asked why it was closed, if it was due to renovations I was told, no we just decided to close it. I walked past the pool later that day and the entire room smelled of bleach, the pool was super cloudy like they just dumped an entire container of bleach in it. The next day I noticed people were in the pool, I asked the front desk if the pool was open since I was told it was closed all weekend and the lady said that they had numerous requests for the pool so they decided to open it but it wasn't heated like it was supposed to be. The day I left the pool hadn't been cleaned and there was stuff floating in it. I asked for a luggage cart since I am disabled and was again rudely told they don’t have them.. how does a hotel not have luggage carts? Yet on the day I checked out I called down to the front desk again and asked for a luggage cart and was told the hotel had one, yes one cart for 9 floors and hundreds of guests...eye roll, and that she guessed we could use it when it became available. When arriving to my room, the room was dirty. It looked like the guests who previously stayed there must have had a party of some sorts, there were confetti and glitter everywhere along with food stains all over the carpet. I guess housekeeping doesn't vacuum and clean? The bathroom sinks didn’t drain well at all and brown water started coming out of it. Wallpaper in the living room was coming off the wall. The room had no trash bags in the one trash can they provided. And parking well that’s a whole another story, it’s not an easy process for as you pay daily but it really nightly. The hotel customer service person behind the desk (Caleb) said the parking came out of the 100 dollar incidental charge the hotel charges which was inaccurate for as it charges my card daily and the ticket reader never worked. I tried to bring these issues up to the customer service desk and was told someone would call me during my stay, no one ever did. The hotel overall needs major renovations and staff need training on how to give professional customer service. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Philadelphia Airport Introduce

This introduction offers an objective overview of the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Philadelphia Airport, a lodging option that may frequently appear in searches under the platform category "Hotels Near Of Me." This category aims to assist local users in finding convenient accommodations, often for purposes such as airport layovers, business travel, or short visits to the Philadelphia area. The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Philadelphia Airport is situated at 4509 Island Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19153, USA, and can be reached via phone at (215) 365-4150 or mobile at +1 215-365-4150.

DoubleTree by Hilton is a globally recognized brand, typically associated with a higher standard of service and comfort than economy hotels, often offering amenities such as on-site dining, fitness centers, and pools. Its location near a major airport like Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) suggests it caters to travelers seeking convenience to air travel. However, as detailed in recent customer feedback, the actual guest experience at this particular DoubleTree location seems to deviate significantly from the brand's expected standards.

Environment and Accommodations

The hotel's environment and accommodations are a major point of concern according to customer reviews. The most pressing issue reported is the overall lack of cleanliness in the rooms. Guests have found rooms to be "dirty," with evidence of previous occupants' activities, including "confetti and glitter everywhere along with food stains all over the carpet." This indicates a severe lapse in housekeeping, with observations that "housekeeping doesn't vacuum and clean." Beyond surface dirt, structural and functional issues are also prevalent. Guests have reported "HUGE crack across one wall and stains on all the walls," suggesting a significant need for renovation. The bathrooms also present problems, with sinks that "didn’t drain well at all and brown water started coming out of it." The wallpaper in the living room was noted to be "coming off the wall," further underscoring the dated and poorly maintained condition of the rooms. Basic necessities like trash bags in the provided trash cans were missing.

Beyond individual room issues, the overall building environment is also criticized. One guest noted that the hotel "smells humid" upon entry, indicating potential ventilation or moisture problems. The elevators are reported to play "loud static" instead of announcing floors, which detracts from the guest experience. Soundproofing appears to be insufficient, as "walls are super thin," allowing guests to "hear the people talking in the room next to me" even when they are not being excessively loud. Furthermore, issues with window coverings are highlighted, with curtains being "about 6" too short," allowing street lights and runway lights to shine directly into the room, severely impacting sleep quality. These issues collectively paint a picture of a hotel environment that is in dire need of "major renovations" and is not meeting expected standards for cleanliness, comfort, or basic functionality, even for a non-luxury hotel. For those searching "Hotels Near Of Me" with expectations of a typical DoubleTree experience, these environmental factors are critical to consider.

Services and Features

While DoubleTree by Hilton typically offers a range of services such as an indoor pool, fitness center, and on-site dining, the execution and quality of these services at this Philadelphia Airport location are heavily criticized. The indoor pool, a key reason for booking for one guest, was a source of major disappointment. It was initially stated to be "closed this weekend" without clear explanation, only for it to be opened later due to "numerous requests" but without heating. More critically, the pool water was described as "super cloudy like they just dumped an entire container of bleach in it," and on the day of departure, it "hadn't been cleaned and there was stuff floating in it." This indicates significant issues with pool maintenance and honesty regarding its availability and condition.

Customer service, a cornerstone of the hospitality industry, also receives highly mixed to negative reviews. While one guest noted that "the person who checked me out would get 5 ," the check-in staff and other interactions were largely described as "rude" and dismissive. Staff seemed "in a hurry like they didn’t have time to answer questions." The inability or unwillingness to provide basic assistance, such as luggage carts (initially denied, then revealed there was "one cart for 9 floors and hundreds of guests"), further exemplifies poor service. Attempts to address issues with the customer service desk were met with unfulfilled promises of callbacks. Parking is another contentious service, described as "not an easy process" with confusing daily vs. nightly charges and non-functional ticket readers, along with inaccurate information provided by staff regarding incidental charges. The overall impression is that staff "need training on how to give professional customer service." This lack of consistent and professional service severely detracts from the guest experience, even for a quick airport stay.

Promotional Information and Considerations

For local users utilizing the "Hotels Near Of Me" search function, the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Philadelphia Airport might initially appear attractive due to its brand recognition and proximity to the airport. Its location is indeed "great if you have an early morning flight." However, based on the comprehensive customer feedback, it is imperative to approach this hotel with significant caution.

Promotional aspects such as the indoor pool, comfortable DoubleTree beds, or on-site dining (implied by the brand) are severely undermined by the reported realities. The critical issues of pervasive uncleanliness in rooms, significant maintenance deficiencies (cracked walls, non-draining sinks, peeling wallpaper), and a poorly maintained and inconsistently available pool directly contradict the expectations associated with a DoubleTree property. Furthermore, the inconsistent and often rude customer service, coupled with confusing and problematic parking procedures, creates a highly negative overall impression.

The overwhelming consensus from guests is that the hotel "needs a serious renovation" and "wouldn't recommend staying here." Many suggest "finding a different spot if you need to stay close to the airport," especially for multiple nights. While the location remains a convenience for airport access, the severe deterioration of the physical property and the reported shortcomings in service make it a very questionable choice for any length of stay. For those searching "Hotels Near Of Me" and prioritizing cleanliness, reliable amenities, and professional service, this DoubleTree location appears to fall far short of expectations, warranting a strong recommendation to consider alternative options in the area.

This hotel needs a serious renovation. It's one of those buildings that when you walk into it, it smells humid. The elevator speakers should just be turned off, instead of stating the floor you're on, it plays loud static when it stops. My room had a HUGE crack across one wall and stains on all the walls. The bathroom sink had no water pressure, it dribbled water out when I had it on the highest setting. I'm not a very tall person (5'6") and I had to duck under the shower head. But the worst was the curtain for the window- my room faced the street and airport and the curtain was about 6" too short, so the street lights and runway lights shined as a perfect line throughout my whole room. If I moved just right in the bed, they shone right into my eyes. Not that I was getting much sleep anyway, the walls are super thin and I could hear the people talking in the room next to me... they weren't yelling or anything, so I didn't make a noise complaint, they were just talking to each other. I would give the person who checked me in a 1 star, but the people checking me out would get 5, so I split the difference for the service rating. The location is great if you have an early morning flight, but the entrance and exit to the parking lot is super confusing. If I was staying for multiple nights, I would have requested to move to a new hotel, though. Overall, I would suggest finding a different spot if you need to stay close to the airport.

The last few years I feel like doubletree has gone downhill. I feel like when I went to this doubletree they really tried to turn that around. My experience started off coming in at noon. Which my reservation was not until 3pm. When I arrived there was no one at the desk for 5 mins, but when she did arrive she let me into the room early. I was so happy to come in early I was exhausted 🥱 and could barely keep my eyes open. The check in cookie was delicious. On the second day I was here I asked for my room to be cleaned and it was. That made me happy. Bed was pretty comfortable and I was happy the bathroom had shampoo/ conditioner and body wash. Sad the room didn’t have a fridge and microwave Also shower floor was so slick I felt like I was going to fall Lastly they didn’t tell me parking wasn’t free. So that was upsetting. But overall I’m happy they texted me to see if everything was still going well. Happy they had extra towels when I asked for it. My experience was great

My family and I stayed here less than 12 hours for a quick stay before an early morning flight. I checked in ahead of time via the Hilton app, got my digital key, etc. so I did not interact with the front desk staff much. However, when I did they were very nice. We did not eat at the restaurant so I can’t comment there. The room - yes, it can certainly use some TLC and a revamp but ours was certainly clean. The outlet in the bathroom was dead which was a bit inconvenient. The shuttle is very convenient as well. We would consider staying here again for a quick night before a flight again but hopefully they do refresh the rooms a bit to get them up to the DoubleTree and Hilton standard.

Customer service: Not very good. Rude.. need a lot of customer service training. They really aren't very well trained at their jobs. Food: Hit or miss. Sometimes their customer service with the restaurant is good.. usually its not so good. Cleaning: Hit or miss. Overall, I cannot recommend this place. They need to do better. Rooms aren't very quiet and that is a big issue.
