I have been going to this hotel since 2016. It has been steadily declining in all aspects. Rooms are basically smelling of smoke. The carpet is dirty and chewed up due to the dogs. It would be great to keep some rooms pet free as it poses allergy issues for some persons when they get the room. The overall service has declined and it has lost its charm.
Extended Stay America - Philadelphia - Airport - Tinicum Blvd, located at 9000 Tinicum Blvd, Philadelphia, PA 19153, USA, is a hotel specifically designed for extended stays, placing it squarely within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category for those seeking longer-term accommodation or a self-sufficient lodging option near Philadelphia International Airport (PHL). This hotel caters to budget-conscious travelers, business professionals on temporary assignments, and individuals or families undergoing relocation, offering a more apartment-like experience than a traditional hotel.
The hotel's environment is defined by its strategic location at 9000 Tinicum Blvd, which places it in direct proximity to Philadelphia International Airport (PHL). This makes it an incredibly convenient choice for air travelers, especially those with early flights, late arrivals, or long layovers. While the immediate surroundings are primarily commercial and airport-related, the hotel is situated near the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge at Tinicum, offering a natural escape and opportunities for outdoor recreation like bird watching and walking trails.
Despite its functional, commercial setting, the location offers practical access to wider Philadelphia. Guests can easily reach downtown Philadelphia's numerous attractions, business districts, and historical sites via major roadways or public transportation. The proximity to Interstate 95 (I-95) and other main arteries facilitates travel to various parts of the city and surrounding areas. For those visiting the sports complex (Wells Fargo Center, Lincoln Financial Field, Citizens Bank Park), the hotel provides a convenient base. The environment is largely utilitarian, designed for efficient transit and access rather than scenic views, reflecting its primary purpose as an extended-stay option near a major airport.
Extended Stay America - Philadelphia - Airport - Tinicum Blvd focuses on providing essential services geared towards guests on longer stays.
It is important to acknowledge that recent customer reviews highlight significant concerns regarding the quality of service and cleanliness. Issues like unaddressed maintenance requests (e.g., cleanliness, blood on duvet), lack of responsiveness to complaints (e.g., automatic wake-up calls), and overall decline in service standards are mentioned, suggesting that the hotel may not always meet basic customer service expectations.
Extended Stay America - Philadelphia - Airport - Tinicum Blvd offers 138 rooms, all designed as studio suites with kitchenettes, catering to the needs of guests on longer stays.
However, it is critical to present the findings from customer reviews regarding the condition of the rooms. Multiple guests have reported significant cleanliness issues, including dirty sheets, refrigerators, and bathrooms. Pervasive smells of cigarettes and tobacco are also frequently mentioned, indicating a problem with smoke odor. Furthermore, furniture is described as "torn, worn, and in terrible condition," and carpets as "dirty and chewed up due to dogs." These observations suggest that while the hotel offers functional features, the overall maintenance and cleanliness standards may be significantly below guest expectations for comfort and hygiene.

While the hotel's concept offers convenience and potential cost savings, especially for extended stays, prospective guests should carefully consider the recent customer feedback regarding cleanliness, maintenance, and odor issues. It is highly recommended to check the most recent reviews and possibly contact the hotel directly at (215) 492-6766 to inquire about room conditions and specific concerns before booking, particularly for those with allergies or high cleanliness standards. The hotel's appeal lies primarily in its functional extended-stay features and location, rather than a luxurious or consistently pristine environment, as indicated by various customer experiences.

May 13, 2025 · H. Michael Vasselleverything was dirty. The sheets, the fridge, the bathroom everything. The room smelled bad like cigarettes mixed with tobacco. It was the worse experience ever. I paid 200 a night for a dirty smelly room. It was so bad I couldnt even sleep there. I had to leave and get a new room at a different hotel. I was so uncomfortable.
Mar 27, 2025 · simply kellsssI have had extended stays (3 months) at both ESAs (Tinicum-this one, and there is one literally across the street on Bartram). This is by far the better choice. It is smaller and located behind a 4 star hotel. I believe this helps with alot with keeping the outside clean and ppl not hanging out front. Room- Queen w/kitchenette (434) Cons-Furniture old. AC unit is LOUD. Doors LOUD when opening/closing. Bed HARD! Because I knew Id be here a while I purchased my own mattress topper to help with comfort. Pros-Parking fee is very fair compared to the others that charge parking per day. That can really add up for someone like myself that is here for appx 90 days. Service-Anything I placed a work order for was fixed expeditiously. Cleanliness-The lobby is always clean, mopped, and welcoming. Price- is very good for long term stay near the airport. The elevator always worked. Breakfast snacks and coffee were good. After staying 2 weeks you can get room service-the young man (Black guy) that cleaned my room regularly was very pleasant, polite, respectful, and thorough. Staff very helpful when I had Amazon packages delivered. They ensure package safety by keeping a log and require signature. I really like that. The front desk staff was always polite and helpful-EXCEPT the one time the weed smell was so strong on my floor it made me sick. The staff wont help unless you tell them specifically with certainty which room someone is smoking or doing anything. They wont even investigate the complaints. Overall, especially compared to the other extended stay, this one is far better. Id stay here again for a long term stay.
May 16, 2025 · Mrs StreetA Complete Nightmare From Start to Finish I booked a two-night stay at this Extended Stay America (9000 Tinicum Blvd., Philadelphia) through Agoda. I received multiple confirmation emails, a valid confirmation ID, and even called the hotel around 4 PM while at the Miami airport to confirm my very late arrival—after midnight. I specifically asked the woman who answered if I would be able to check in late, and she pulled up my reservation by last name, confirmed it, and told me she was checking the schedule to make sure someone would be there to check me in. She assured me everything was fine. When I arrived shortly after 1 AM, there was someone at the front desk—but they took over 20 minutes to even appear. Worse, the hotel claimed they had no record of my reservation, even after I showed them the confirmation in my Agoda app and explained the earlier phone call. I even got on the phone with Agoda customer service, who directly asked the hotel staff to honor my reservation. They refused. At that point, it was nearly 4 AM, and I had no choice but to book a new reservation on the spot just to get a room. I paid $261 plus a $100 deposit—for a single night, despite already having prepaid $179 through Agoda for two nights. I made sure to confirm with the front desk staff that this new reservation covered the night of Wednesday, May 14, and that checkout would be 11 AM Thursday, May 15. He clearly told me yes, and that he was checking me in early for Wednesday, not charging me for Tuesday. Thursday morning, before checking out, I spoke to the manager—who was dismissive, unhelpful, and frankly insulting. He said that the hotel system automatically cancels any reservations not checked in by midnight (despite the fact I called earlier specifically to prevent that). He then told me he couldn’t refund the early check-in fee unless he charged me pet fees for my two dogs—who are service animals, and therefore exempt from any such fees under the law. He also claimed the front desk agent made a mistake, and that technically I was staying two nights and had already overstayed my reservation. In other words, rather than own up to their mistakes, he tried to tell me I was lucky not to be charged more. It was laughable. I had explicitly asked the front desk staff to confirm the dates, and he told me clearly that I was checking out on Thursday. The room itself was terrible: • Musty smell • Clogged sink • Broken TV • Poor A/C • No housekeeping (you have to carry your dirty towels/sheets to the front desk to exchange) • Indifferent, lazy staff Additionally, in my experience, especially when paying with credit card I normally receive deposit refunds same day as check out even though they always say it could take several days or up to 10 days to receive the refund for the deposit. I called my bank to see if there was any type of refund initiated. They told me they didn’t see anything and then I called the location to ask if they could just simply just look up and see whether the Deposit refund had been initiated And the Front Desk woman told me that only the manager could do that. Absurd, I wasn’t asking her to process a refund. I was just asking her to look up my reservation that I checked out for that day and see whether or not one had been initiated. Luckily, Agoda refunded my $179 and even gave me an additional $89 for the trouble, which speaks volumes about who was in the wrong here. I’ve stayed at other Extended Stay America locations, including one in Brickell (Miami), and had great experiences. But this particular location is an absolute disaster and a stain on the brand. Avoid it at all costs. I wouldn’t stay here again if it were free.
May 16, 2025 · Michael ZitomerI came intown to visit and decided to stay here. The room was terrible. The bed was hard as ever, the air conditioner was making a noise was smelly and the level of noise was crazy. When I say they was slamming doors all night I couldn’t sleep at all. Checked in before midnight an got the heck out of there soon as the sun rise. I wouldn’t stay here at all the worst experience ever an ice stayed at other Extended Stay but I’ll never return to this one. I NEED A REFUND!!
