My stay was horrible! The night staff was rude and so unprofessional. The elevator smelled like pee, the room door did not lock. I went down to report it and the guy was just so rude, he acted as if he didn’t want to help me and he basically said they didn’t have another room so get a refund or deal with it. The so called breakfast they say they have on the website was stale coffee and a Nutri-Grain bar the only good thing about my stay the was morning desk staff, she was so nice and helpful!
For local users in Philadelphia, PA, seeking "Hotels Near Of Me" with a focus on extended stays, Extended Stay America - Philadelphia - Airport - Bartram Ave., located at 8880 Bartram Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19153, USA, is a property designed for longer visits. The hotel can be reached by phone at (215) 365-4360 or +1 215-365-4360. This objective introduction will detail the hotel's environment, services, features, and promotional information, incorporating both official descriptions and candid customer feedback to provide a balanced perspective.
The Extended Stay America - Philadelphia - Airport - Bartram Ave. boasts a location highly convenient for travelers utilizing Philadelphia International Airport (PHL), being just over a mile away. This proximity makes it a practical choice for those with early flights, late arrivals, or needing a place to stay during layovers. The hotel is situated on Bartram Avenue, an area characterized by other airport-centric accommodations and businesses.
While its immediate surroundings are functional for airport access, the broader environment offers limited walkable attractions, with a Wawa convenience store noted as a nearby and late-night option. For those seeking more substantial shopping, dining, or entertainment, a short drive is typically required to reach city attractions or larger commercial centers. The hotel's website suggests easy access to local attractions such as the Philadelphia Museum of Art, The Franklin Institute, the Philadelphia Zoo, and Fairmount Park, though these would necessitate transportation.
However, customer reviews significantly impact the perception of the hotel's internal environment. Guests have reported unpleasant odors, specifically mentioning an "elevator smelled like pee," which speaks to potential issues with cleanliness and maintenance of common areas. While the aim is to provide a home-like environment, these specific criticisms suggest that the actual atmosphere can be far from ideal, influencing the overall impression of the property's upkeep.
Extended Stay America properties are designed to offer services that support longer stays, aiming to provide a "home away from home" experience. A key service typically advertised is a complimentary "grab-and-go" breakfast. However, customer feedback on this specific hotel reveals a significant disconnect between the advertised benefit and the actual offering, with descriptions like "stale coffee and a Nutri-Grain bar." This suggests that while a breakfast option is available, its quality and variety might be very basic and potentially disappointing.
The hotel offers a 24-hour front desk, crucial for guest assistance at any time. While some guests have praised the "morning desk staff" for being "nice and helpful," negative experiences with "night staff" being "rude and so unprofessional" and seemingly unwilling to address serious room issues (like a non-locking door) indicate a significant inconsistency in service quality. Such discrepancies in staff professionalism can severely impact a guest's comfort and security.
Other standard services include complimentary Wi-Fi in rooms and common areas, though its reliability is not explicitly detailed in the provided reviews. Housekeeping services at Extended Stay America properties are typically provided on a weekly basis for longer stays, with daily service or additional linen exchange available for a fee or upon request. This structured housekeeping approach is part of the extended stay model, but the quality of initial room cleanliness has been a concern for some guests.
The defining feature of Extended Stay America properties, including this one, is the provision of fully equipped kitchens in every suite. These kitchens typically include a full-sized refrigerator/ freezer, stovetop, microwave, and essential cookware, dishware, and utensils. This amenity is invaluable for guests on extended stays, allowing them to prepare their own meals and manage their food budget. However, guest reviews highlight issues even with these core features, such as "oven is very slowly and hard to work because the dials are so old the markings are gone" and microwaves needing cleaning. These issues suggest a lack of regular maintenance and updates for these crucial in-room facilities.
All rooms are typically studio or suite style, offering more space than a standard hotel room, complete with a dining area and a workspace. Other standard room amenities usually include flat-screen TVs with premium channels, irons and ironing boards, and private bathrooms with basic toiletries.
For convenience, the hotel offers on-site guest laundry facilities, a much-appreciated feature for long-term guests. A fitness center is also typically available, although its specific condition or range of equipment is not detailed in the provided feedback. The hotel is pet-friendly, allowing guests to bring their furry companions for an additional fee, making it a suitable option for those traveling with pets.
However, beyond the functional offerings, the state of the rooms has been a major point of contention for guests. Reports of the "room door did not lock," "the microwave needed to be cleaned on the inside," and "roaches began to appear" indicate significant problems with cleanliness and safety. The overall impression from multiple reviews points to rooms being in a "terrible condition," suggesting that the hotel's basic maintenance and cleanliness standards are inconsistent and often fail to meet guest expectations.
Extended Stay America positions itself as an affordable option for travelers needing accommodations for several nights, a week, a month, or longer. Its promotional materials emphasize the value proposition of fully equipped kitchens, free grab-and-go breakfast, and pet-friendly policies, aiming to provide a "home away from home" experience. The proximity to Philadelphia International Airport is also a key selling point for travelers.
The chain often offers various discounts and promotions for longer stays, AAA/auto club members, seniors, military/government personnel, and advance purchases. These are designed to make extended stays more economical.
However, for local users considering "Hotels Near Of Me" for an extended stay, it is crucial to be aware of the significant concerns raised by recent guests. While the concept of a fully equipped kitchen and the potential for cost savings on dining are appealing, the pervasive issues with room cleanliness, maintenance (e.g., non-locking doors, broken appliances, pest control), and inconsistent staff responsiveness, as detailed in multiple reviews, present a considerable risk to guest satisfaction. The value proposition is severely undermined if basic standards of comfort, safety, and hygiene are not met. Therefore, potential guests should carefully weigh the advertised benefits against the objective feedback regarding the hotel's current condition and service delivery before making a booking decision.

Apr 22, 2025 · esaThree stars because the staff were all decent and never gave me any problems. The location is neutral it's good because it's away from the city but at the same time the only store there is Wawa that's open late and walkable distance. As for the room mix thoughts about it because at first glance it was decent but overtime things started getting worse firstly the oven is very slowly and hard to work because the dials are so old the markings are gone. The microwave needed to be cleaned on the inside and lastly during my final days roaches began to appear. Overall my stay was neutral not the worst but not the best.
Mar 03, 2025 · IDK ChannelThe room itself was clean, but the cigarette smoke seeping through the walls left my eyes burning, even with the window open. Trash and cigarette butts lining the hallways, and had to step over people passed out from substances in the staircase on my way out. I did not feel safe in this hotel.
Apr 05, 2025 · Hal VThe front desk person is very rude and attempts to make customer’s uncomfortable. The whole lobby area is filthy and has “working women” hanging out. I do not recommend this trashy hotel for anyone. The front desk person says his name is Tyree, but he has been dishonest about everything else, so that’s probably not true either.
Mar 28, 2025 · Mary OstranderRoom is very old, very cold, stinky, water is stuck and doesn’t flow away, with lots of hair everywhere. There is no shuttle and stuff tells you to go to the other hotel across the street, they definitely don’t want you there
