We had a meeting at the conference center. This is not your traditional hotel. The rooms are more like small condominiums with full kitchens. They don’t have all of the services of a traditional hotel (restaurants, bars, etc.) but it was perfect for us because it’s across the street and is a great get away from the crowds.
When planning a visit to the bustling heart of the District of Columbia, whether for a lengthy business engagement, a family relocation, or simply a desire for more space and independence, a traditional hotel room can often feel restrictive. This is where Eldon Luxury Suites offers a distinct and appealing alternative. Located in downtown D.C., this property provides an apartment-style hotel experience, blending the comforts of a home-like environment with select hotel conveniences. It’s an ideal choice for those who appreciate the freedom of a fully equipped space while exploring the nation's capital.
Eldon Luxury Suites is described by guests as a "beautiful hotel that is more like apartments in a good way." This unique concept means you'll find "very spacious" accommodations with "lots of closet space" and, crucially, "full kitchens to prepare meals." While it's important to note that this is "not your traditional hotel" and may not offer all the services like on-site restaurants or bars, its design caters to guests who value independence and privacy. Past guests have particularly loved the comfortable beds and the "best part was the shower!" While some have noted occasional issues with internet connectivity or inconsistent coffee provisions, the overall sentiment points to a quiet, comfortable, and highly functional space that serves as "a great get away from the crowds" while remaining incredibly central.
Eldon Luxury Suites boasts an exceptionally convenient and central location at 933 L St NW, Washington, DC 20001, USA. This places it directly in downtown D.C., a prime spot for both business and leisure travelers, offering unparalleled access to major city landmarks, convention facilities, and transportation hubs.
One of its most significant advantages is its direct proximity to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. Being "across the street" from the conference center makes it an ideal choice for attendees, offering an easy commute and a welcome escape from the crowds after a busy day. Beyond the convention center, the hotel is within easy walking distance of a wealth of D.C.'s most famous attractions. The Capital One Arena, home to major sporting events and concerts, is just a few blocks away. The National Mall, with its iconic monuments, memorials, and world-class Smithsonian museums (including the National Portrait Gallery and the Smithsonian American Art Museum), is also readily accessible by foot or a short public transport ride.
Public transportation access is excellent. The Mount Vernon Sq/7th St-Convention Center Metro station (Green and Yellow Lines) is right nearby, providing seamless connections to virtually every corner of the District, including Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA). The Gallery Place-Chinatown Metro station (Red, Green, and Yellow Lines) is also within walking distance, further expanding your transit options. Jun 03, 2025 · John AdamsBeautiful hotel that is more like apartments in a good way. Very spacious and lots of closet space. Loved having a full kitchen to prepare meals. Bed was comfortable. The best part was the shower! Did not like not having a tv in the bedroom, but there is a small one mounted on the wall in the common area that had a lot of channels. They did have a coffee maker in the room, but once I brewed the coffee that was provided on the first day, I was not able to get any more and was told they were out of coffee. Went to the lobby the next morning to get some brewed coffee they have for guests to only then be told they only provide coffee to guests in the lobby Monday-Friday....that doesn't sound like a "luxury" experience. The worst part was the non-existent high speed internet. With how much you pay to stay here you should not have issues with the internet. I was only able to connect a few times and for only a few minutes. That really needs to be corrected
May 30, 2025 · Melissa ReidI love the location, size of the rooms, and price point. A block away from the convention center and a few blocks away from two metro stops, so very convenient to get around. The rooms are enormous and the place is quiet (except when the garbage truck picked up the garbage in the back alley very early in the morning). The rooms are warm and inviting, but very clean and lots of very useful space. Having a full kitchen certainly is a luxury and comes in handy when I am tired of eating in restaurants. The only downside of Eldon Luxury Suites is the Internet. This is the second time that I have stayed and the wifi didn't work. I could connect to the router but there was no Internet. I checked all the floors and only the first floor routers were getting Internet, but that was a weak signal up on the 6th floor. This happened for multiple days (eventually the 5th floor routers carried Internet). I know I wasn't the only one having a problem because I could hear neighbors arguing with the maintenance team who were claiming the problem was on the user side. Tethering doesn't make this a deal breaker, but it is frustrating for a hotel catering to business travelers to not have reliable wifi. Other than the Internet, the hotel is great and one of my go to places to stay in DC.
Apr 12, 2025 · David NickersonRoom was clean and served its purpose for our family. Four stars but I would say it’s more a 3.8 not “luxury”. The sofa bed was uncomfortable for my kids. The master bed was advertised as a queen but was a double and sagged on one side. The AC was LOUD as it shut on and off and the thermostat was set at 70 and not adjustable. You could turn it off. Shower head needed to be tightened to not leak which I did myself. This is just a case of management not looking at the state of the rooms as often as they should and replacing things. Also the place seems to be renovated in 2008 so everything is about 15-20 years old. This is reflected in the fact there is no device charging capabilities and the decor is dated. We stayed four nights and I think that two was plenty, bc no view and no daylight coming into the room was disorienting. Kitchen was good and housekeeping was good. I didn’t see staff or interact and they don’t provide anything other than the stay. Location is superior. L street is relatively quiet and the neighborhood to the north is walkable and nice. The area to the south you get right into the museums and stuff. So location is unbeatable. I probably wouldn’t stay again but would find something in that hood.
Jul 08, 2024 · Anthony RadfordThere’s a heat wave going on in DC, and they told us days prior to our arrival that their AC went down but they were getting it fixed. In fact they said it had already been 30 percent fixed. So why was it that when we came a week later for our stay, the only air running seems to be in the lobby, elevator, and halls? Our room has been 85/86 degrees (and we’ve kept it on 51 paying it will cool down) for the entirety of our stay, and the only “relief” they provided when we called, was a crappy fan. You don’t even feel clean when you go to wash up in the bathroom because within 2 minutes you’re covered in sweat because it’s not just hot, it’s unbelievably humid. Every night we’re tossing and turning even with the fan next to the bed because it feels like being trapped in a suffocating swamp. It’s actually sad because just last night we decided to open the main door to the room, just so a little of the cool air from the hallway could filter in, and our neighbors on the floor were doing it too. I just don’t understand how you call yourself a luxury suite, knowing there’s a heat wave going on and not finding that alarming enough to get the air flow to your rooms fixed. I really don’t like being harsh, but this is one of my worst stay experiences that I can remember, and travel a few times a year with family and friends. Over 1k to stay and we can’t even get proper rest because of how untenable this is. Maybe there are times when they’ve got their ducks in a row, and then I’m sure it’s a decent stay, but for this particular stay? It’s just feeling like a scam, and I cannot imagine recommending this place to anyone I know, or even strangers. The company that owns the place should be ashamed of themselves. If you’re confident enough to take people’s money, you should at least have the decency to keep your hotel in tenable conditions.
