Mar 19, 2025 · david huntMe and my male friend got a room for 2 nights. A good friend of mine wanted to stop by to say hello and hang out for a couple of hours. 2 different shifts said the cost of this would be right at 11 dollars. During the late night shift he finally came and a different female staff was there. She refused to allow him to come to the room unless he paid 35 dollars. So we said no way and we went to a store. Was gone 15 minutes. When I returned alone to my room my roommate had a female in the room and she yelled through the door she worked there and her name is Cherry. When the door was opened she was in my room being irate to me. I had no idea this would happen. She left a few minutes later. I went to the front desk and the very same girl staff member had let this ex employee go to my room with my roommate free. But said the policy is 35 dollars for a visitor. I am calling the owner and reporting this incident. The staff member absolutely was horrified when I said I would be doing this. Not to mention she is a very rude person in general.
Feb 01, 2025 · PAMI feel very conflicted about the Empress Hotel. My wife and I have a love-hate relationship with the Empress. We have stayed here on and off over the last 15 years. The pro’s are: #1. Location is really great; 2 easily walkable blocks to the French Quarter. #2. FREE off-street, in a parking lot, parking. #3. I can’t stress this enough, the staff is friendly and very helpful. They are, by far, better than staff at any of the nicer hotels I’ve ever stayed in. That being said; the con’s are: The bed was really terrible. It was not supported properly, so drastically sagged in the middle. It was wrapped, loosely, in very crackly, noisy plastic. The sheets were very scratchy and did not fit the bed correctly so they could come off and bunch up. Each night would end up sleeping on that weird plastic. When we stayed here about 10 years ago; at that time, there were small tables, shelves, hooks to hang things on, etc in the rooms. There was one small, old side table (no drawer) from someone’s living room & an old dining room chair. I actually found a set of plastic drawers while I was out walking. I picked it up and brought it back to the room. Just to have some place to set a glass of water. I left it in the room for the next person. There is absolutely no place in the bathroom to put anything, except the back of the toilet. No towel bars, no shelf, no organizer of any type. The window unit AC in room really struggled to keep up. When everything was still, and we were sleeping or out, the room would cool down. Every time we were up and moving about or going in and out of the door, it got very warm very fast and took a long time to cool back down.
Apr 09, 2025 · Dawn and Zoe BlytheThis hotel is to be avoided!!! When we arrived in the room, we discovered a very small room worthy of a prison cell, very unsanitary, not clean at all, there was still hair in the bathtub and on the toilet, the mattress of the bed was taped to hide the holes, we even saw cockroaches!!!! The photos are misleading and date back 4 years. We did not want to stay to sleep even for one night and they refused to reimburse us for no reason! This hotel should be banned from booking how is it possible to offer this type of accommodation?? And I don't even know why they have one star, they don’t deserve it!!!
Mar 06, 2025 · Chloé BrdCheck in was smooth. Me, my partner and our dog. Room small, poor condition, but expected for the price. The next day, was confronted by an older woman, either a manager or owner, unsure of position. She claimed the booking service did not notify her we had a dog, and that two adults were going to be in the room, showed the confirmation with two adults and a dog. Never stay there again. She made me feel like an unwanted guest.
