We originally booked just one night at Field Guide Lodge after discovering this charming property online—but the moment we walked through the door, we knew we had to stay longer. Thankfully, the staff was incredibly accommodating and made it possible for us to extend our stay in the deluxe suite for another night. I’d read some comments about the breakfast before we arrived, and let’s be honest—most hotels serve the same tired options: instant eggs, packaged yogurt, and sugary cereals. But Field Guide Lodge completely exceeded my expectations. Their breakfast was fresh, thoughtful, and honestly the best I’ve had in a hotel. The chia pudding alone was next-level—topping choices were just about anything you could imagine. It was such a refreshing change to enjoy real, healthy food instead of the usual processed offerings. Our suite was spotless, beautifully styled, and so comfortable. The bed was cozy, and the view? Absolutely breathtaking. Our stay at Field Guide Lodge was truly unforgettable. We’re already planning to return—this time with our young adult kids so they can enjoy the experience as much as we did.

The Field Guide Lodge is in a great location for anyone visiting Stowe! It’s perfect for skiing, and just a short walk or drive to downtown, Stowe Cider, and several other restaurants. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, which made our stay even more enjoyable. Breakfast was included, typically consisting of overnight oats or seeds, mixed fruit, and boiled eggs or croissants — sometimes it was a hit, sometimes a miss, but it was a nice touch. The building itself is a bit dated and could use some sprucing up, but the charming lounge area more than made up for it. Overall, we had a great experience, and for the location, it’s definitely worth considering!

**Disappointing Stay at the Field House Lodge** I recently stayed at the Field House Lodge for two nights, from Tuesday afternoon to Thursday morning. I was initially excited based on the photos and description online—the property looked beautiful and serene. Unfortunately, the reality didn’t quite match the expectations. I booked the Trail House King Suite, primarily for the soaking tub, which was a major selling point for us. However, the tub had a constant leak and was completely unusable during our stay. The patio connected to our room was also a letdown—it was dusty and clearly hadn’t been cleaned, which made it uninviting. The pool area, which looked stunning online, was in poor condition. The pool was uncovered and exposed, with chairs flipped over and no effort made to tidy up or maintain the space. It felt neglected, and not at all like the relaxing environment that was advertised. Check-in was also underwhelming. A young staff member handed us our keys with little to no information about the property. We had to be very persistent to get even the most basic answers, which was frustrating after a long drive. Overall, while the concept of the Field House Lodge is appealing, it seems the upkeep and guest experience have fallen short. With some attention to detail and improved hospitality, it could really live up to what’s promised online. We were given 25% off of one night for the inconveniences.

Decent stay though slightly underwhelmed relative to the photos. The room was very basic, with no adornments. It felt outdated; room was hot so had to use the AC unit to manage, the fridge was pretty old. The best part was the common areas/seating to hang out in, that was really nice. Though there was no bar to order from mid week.

Overall I really like this place. I mean the interior design is great and it has a cozy ambience. The room is clean and updated as well. Location wise it is downtown near restaurants and along the road. Also, parking is included and in the property. The only downside for us is we booked this place compare to others as it says “breakfast included” however the selection is not great and quite disappointing. Maybe, I’m just used to typical breakfast selections we had in previous hotel we’ve stayed in. Also, the few food selection is not labeled making it not allergy friendly. So I had to message front desk to bring up my nut allergy which I had some that does not look like it nuts since there is not really variety to choose from. Then she said that the biscuit may have nuts. I had it and I was fine but this could be something avoided. I feel like both party me and the staff could have known better though but could be avoided with proper labels. Overall, I recommend this place but maybe just do not expect much for the breakfast. And if you are coming during Winter time there are other hotels around the area that offers more amenities such as heated pools. They do have hot tub but you have to make an appointment.
