Check-in and checkout went smoothly. The front desk hosts were very nice. We stored our bags with them for several hours on the last day after checkout for free while we continued to explore the city before our flight left in the evening. We stayed in a double bunk bed room. There was adequate space for all four of us in the room. Housekeeping replaced our towels and made our beds every day. The only downside is that the carpet did not feel like it had been vacuumed before we got there. Otherwise, the hotel was nice. The Freehand is located just a couple blocks from the subway which we used everyday and there are convenience stores and coffee shops near.

Awesome place to stay with a kid! We loved the location so much. The neighborhood was quiet, safe, and walkable, so it was great to walk around and enjoy a slice of nightlife--even with kids in tow! Very close to all the right subway stops, and it's easy to find groceries, meals, and staples for the hotel room in a 1-block radius. The room was super fun. Small: but clean and comfortable--and our kiddo loved her bunk. Much better condition than any hotel I have booked in midtown. Big fan!!

Nice building near food and metro. Door guy was really informative on best food location near by. Room was nice and clean and bed was comfy but heater was not working the first 2 night so it was very cold.. you pay a $40 per day fee on top of your $200 deposit to enjoy their free water.. that's it all you get is free water! No coffee in the room or lobby.. no microwave in room or lobby so any leftovers went to trash. No place to put your clothes, no iron.. This hotel had its pros and cons. I would say add that extra $40 fee a day to get something more guest friendly. This hotel it's more for the younger crowd since they have a bar on the top floor, for adults on vacation unless you are staying 1 to 2 nights book elsewhere. We were in and out but I would had liked that extra basic things for that mandatory extra $40 a day.

Great place to stay at a great price! The food and drink options in the hotel are great for late-night hangouts. The rooms are comfy and inviting (we had a king suite) and the bathroom was just enough space. It’s exactly what you need for an NYC hotel- safe, comfortable and clean. It does all this while being curated and styled by expert designers. I feel like this will become our go-to place to stay in NYC.

Reasonable price, convenient location. It was easy to catch the 6 or the R/W train nearby to visit everything we wanted. Lots of good restaurants in the area. Beds are comfy and the linens are nice. Rooms are quite small and it’s a little noisy. We appreciated the cafe downstairs, the lattes were delicious, I think we grabbed one every morning. Our flights home were cancelled and we had to stay extra nights and the hotel easily accommodates us.
