We booked a stay at Hotel Giraffe based on reviews and location. We spent 3 nights with our two kids (12 and 14 yrs old). Overall, it was a great stay. The staff was incredibly friendly. The continental breakfast and complimentary snacks/drinks was great. The hotel location was perfect (about 8 min walk from subway). Good value! The room was comfortable enough for 4 people (2 queen beds). The beds could have been more comfortable and the room temp/HVAC was a little temperamental. But overall I would definitely recommend this hotel :)
Looking for a well-located hotel with a reputation for friendly staff in New York City? Hotel Giraffe by Library Hotel Collection, situated at 365 Park Ave S in the NoMad neighborhood, is part of the 'Hotels Near Of Me' category and has been a recommended choice for many travelers. However, recent guest feedback indicates a mix of positive and potentially concerning aspects for local users to consider.
One of the consistently praised features of Hotel Giraffe is its incredibly friendly staff, who are noted for their helpfulness. The hotel's location is also considered perfect by many, being about an 8-minute walk from the subway, offering good value for its accessibility. Families may find it accommodating, as rooms with two queen beds are available and deemed comfortable enough for four people.
Amenities that guests have appreciated include a continental breakfast and complimentary snacks and drinks, adding value to the stay. However, a recurring theme in more recent reviews is that while the staff and location maintain a decent rating, the hotel may be experiencing a decline in amenities and quality. Some long-term guests have noted a significant increase in rates coinciding with a reduction in offerings, such as the discontinuation of the evening happy hour.
Concerns have been raised about the dated condition of the rooms, including the need for fresh paint, tears in duvets, and stains on blankets and bathtubs due to age. Inconsistencies in provided amenities, such as only one slipper and two robes for a room with four guests, have also been mentioned.
Privacy within the rooms could be a concern due to slightly see-through stained glass panels on the bathroom doors. Additionally, one guest reported an incident where a staff member entered their room with a key without knocking, even with a 'do not disturb' sign displayed, highlighting a potential lapse in guest privacy and hotel procedures.
While service is reported to be quick when requested, some guests feel that management may have cut back on the budget, leading to a decline in the hotel's overall charm and the feeling of it being a special boutique hotel. The comfort of the beds and the room temperature/HVAC system have also been noted as potentially temperamental by one guest.
For direct bookings or inquiries about potential promotions, you can contact Hotel Giraffe by Library Hotel Collection at (212) 685-7700 or +1 212-685-7700. For the most up-to-date information on offers, it is recommended to check the hotel's official website or your preferred booking platform. Feb 04, 2025 · Rachel BarakStaff and location keep this hotel at a decent rating. I have been staying here on and off for about 8 years. I have recommended it to countless travelers planning a trip to NY. However, rates have gone up tremendously as amenities and quality have gone down. No more evening happy hour, rooms are dated, walls need a new coat of paint, duvet had tears, blankets were clean but stained due to age, bathtub was stained, 4 of us but 1 slipper and two robes provided. The staff is friendly and service is quick when requested. It must be management having cut back on the budget. The last stay was the most disappointing as it has lost its charm of being that special little boutique hotel in middle of a bustling city. BTW - Doors to bathroom are slightly see through (stained glass panel) so there could be a privacy issue between roommates. Staff member came to drop off towels- rather than knock, she let herself in with the key, even with the do not disturb sign up. Luckily, husband was able to intercept her before she got an eyeful of me in the bathroom. It was an honest mistake on her part but I am just glad she didn't make it far into the room.
Jan 04, 2025 · Eva LI am incredibly impressed with this Hotel! For a not fancy boutique hotel it is exceptional. Clean well appointed incredibly good staff and even the clientele seem to be good happy nice people. Breakfast ( which as are snacks included in price) includes a Starbucks like coffee experience with a woman making you whatever you want. This is a find! The room is a decent size and very nicely designed and decorated. They call you the day before personally and ask if you’d like any extras in your room ( no charge) this is how a hotel should be run!
Dec 13, 2024 · David FreidenreichA/C didn’t work during my stay. I asked if someone could check it out while I was gone for the day and instead came home to an 80° room. Had to sleep with the doors open to try to cool down, which obviously led to no sleep given the sounds of Manhattan outside. The second night I also came home to a mystery stain on the sheets, which I just lived with because it was late. The employees were very nice, but I would not stay here again (or at least I’d call ahead of time to make sure their systems are all working as they should).
Mar 02, 2025 · Nicholas KingThere is nothing 4 Star or luxury about this hotel. I would not stay here again. The good: great location, the staff is wonderful, breakfast is great, large size rooms, double queen beds. The bad: the noise is so loud from the street! I could hear everything and it was hard to sleep. The noise is loud from other guests, can hear them walking around and turning on water. The hotel is dated and old, needs updating. The blackout curtain doesn’t cover the whole window so light pours in! I had to stuff the curtains in the cracks so we had any hope of sleep. Way overpriced for what you get so I assume you pay for location.
