The location was really convenient for the subway and the free breakfast easily saved us $5-$10 per day but the hotel has an issue with heating. There is only an old noisy AC unit in the room so you have to super heat the room before going to sleep and prey it stays warm enough until morning. I think in spring / summer / autumn this wouldn’t be an issue but I wouldn’t stay here in winter again.

Feb 18, 2025 · Martin KellyMy son and I came to celebrate his Birthday in NY, booked with the Lex, the best thing ever, I have have to give a shout out to Steven, Chris and Odlis at the front desk they were amazing, they helped to make his day very special. Thank you so much. The rooms were clean, big bathroom, comfortable beds. It is near the bus stops and trains a little walk, very quiet area, with a light breakfast. Highly recommend.

Simple breakfast (there’s also free coffee all day upon request) and WiFi are included. They also provide you complementary bottled water (an absolute need after walking around all day in the city). They have cute rooftop too. The location is great, close to restaurants and public transportation (metro is just a few blocks away), yet quiet since is not in the middle of all the “madness”.

No refrigerator or microwave in the room so we had to eat cold leftovers. Rooftop wasn't open which was one of the main reasons for booking this hotel. Also, the bathroom was so cold we had to turn the shower on in order to warm it up. It literally felt like outside. After allowing the shower water to run the ceiling started leaking. Not a great experience at all.

On June 30, 2024, I reserved a room with two queen beds for an arrival on October 18, 2024. I made this reservation well in advance to accommodate my busy schedule, expecting everything to go smoothly. However, just one week before my arrival, on October 11, 2024, I received a call informing me that, due to a “City Ordinance,” my stay at The Lex could not be honored and that all rooms were fully booked. I was told I would receive a refund. A refund is not a suitable resolution in this case. Finding another hotel on such short notice is far more expensive than booking months ahead, as I had done. I had to escalate the issue and speak with two different managers to push for a solution beyond just a refund. Eventually, I was told I would receive a callback with alternative options at your other locations. Six hours later, I was offered only a room with one king-sized bed, which is not acceptable since we are a party of three. Sharing a single bed with multiple people is not a reasonable accommodation. While I understand that certain circumstances, like city ordinances, may be beyond your control, informing guests just a week before their arrival is unacceptable. This situation could have been handled more proactively and professionally. I strongly advise future guests to exercise caution when booking with your hotel, as the management’s handling of reservations leaves much to be desired.
